Lysander walked past Thalassa without even glancing in her direction.
Even though itâs October and the autumn chill is supposed to be in the air, todayâs weather is pretty warm with the sun shining high. Not cold at all.
But as Lysander passed, Thalassa felt a shiver.
She didnât get what was going on, so she turned to David for answers.
David didnât say a word, just shot her a look that screamed âget out of here!â before he followed Lysander into the office.
Thalassa saw the look on Davidâs face, but she had no clue what he was happening.
She had been dying to clear the air with Lysander and finally, he was back at the office.
She couldnât miss this opportunity.
Every extra day she waited, she would bear another day of false accusations.
She dropped the mop she was holding, walked over to the office door and rapped gently on the frame.
The door wasnât closed, and the atmosphere inside was as tense as a tightrope.
Lysander and Zephyr sat on the couch, both looking dead serious.
David was standing next to them, reporting, âMr. Sinclair, there must be a moleâ¦â
Thalassa wanted to fight for her own justice, so she stepped into the office. The moment she walked in, she could feel the pressure, making her tread lightly.
She walked up to Lysander and said, âMr. Sinclair, I need to have a word with you.â
Lysander looked up, his eyes icy and piercing.
He didnât say a word, just one look from him made Thalassa feel scared. But she knew she had to clear her name, she couldnât back down now.
She stood tall and told Lysander, âMr. Sinclair, I wasnât the one who spread those rumors. Someone is trying to frame me!â
After she finished, Lysanderâs cold gaze was fixed on her, adding to her stress.
Thalassa stared at him blankly, not understanding his reaction.
David, standing next to her, tried to signal her with his eyes not to say any more.
She noticed David kept looking at her and asked curiously, âDavid, whatâs wrong? Do your eyes hurt?â
David was speechless.
He gave a wry smile, then glanced at Lysanderâs icy stare, and awkwardly explained, âBeen pulling too many all-nighters recently, my eyes are a bit sore.â
âOh, is that so? David, donât forget to rest while working. You can only work well when youâre healthy,â
Thalassa advised David.
David nodded, although he kept up a smile, he was feeling pretty uneasy inside.
He thought to himself, âThalassa, youâre such a rookie in the workplace. Not only can you not read Lysanderâs face, but you also canât understand my hints. Thalassa, Iâve done what I could, now youâre on your own.â
David lowered his head and stood quietly to the side, no longer speaking.
After that little interlude, Thalassa said to Lysander again. âMr. Sinclair, you have to believe me, Iâm not the kind to spread rumors. And that day, I really didnât overhear you and Faye, the CCTV footage on your computer can prove itâ¦â
Lysanderâs handsome face was filled with chill as he said coldly, âNow is not the time to discuss this.â
