Thalassa stopped in her tracks, but didnât turn around.
âWhat are you doing in the bossâs office?â Faye interrogated.
âIâve got stuff to discuss with Mr. Sinclair. Since heâs not in, Iâll come back to him later,â Thalassa retorted, ready to bolt out of there.
Fayeâs words rooted her in place again, âYouâre just a cleaner! You really think youâre worth Mr.
Sinclairâs time? Thalassa, Iâve never seen a shameless woman like you, trying to seduce Mr. Sinclairâ
Thalassa paused, turning to face Faye head-on, stating her case, âIâm here to see the CCTV footage of your confession to Mr. Sinclair. I want to prove I didnât overhear your conversation and Iâm not the one spreading rumors. Faye, you know the saying. The reason you criticize others is a reflection of yourself.â
Faye instantly realized Thalassa was throwing her own words back at her, about being shameless.
Fayeâs fists clenched in anger, but she kept her cool, scoffing. âThe office door was open. Perhaps you were eavesdropping?â
Thalassaâs eyes widened in astonishment.
Oh my god!
How could Faye accuse her like that?
âOnce Mr. Sinclair comes back and checks the CCTV, everything will be clear.â
âMr. Sinclair is a busy man, he wonât waste time on this. Give up on that idea. Thalassa, if I were you, Iâd admit to spreading the rumors and apologize to Mr. Sinclair. Maybe heâll forgive you for owning up to your mistake, Faye suggested with a sneer, before leaving the office.
âI didnât do it and I wonât admit to it! Iâll find evidence to clear my name,â Thalassa said, watching Fayeâs retreating figure.
Thalassa felt wronged and furious.
Her phone rang as she left the office. It was her friend Hertha.
She picked up, âHertha, Iâm so bummed.â
She was really troubled.
âWhatâs up? Whatâs got our sunny and positive Thalassa so down? Spill the beans,â Herthaâs cheery voice came from the other end.
Thalassa told her about the false accusation and how Faye said Lysander wouldnât let her see the CCTV footage.
She felt stifled and needed to vent to Hertha.
ysano kids âMom, donât be sad. You still have us,â came the gentle, sweet voices of her kids over the phone. Their words warmed Thalassaâs heart and soothed her anxiety.
Thalassa was taken aback, âDorian, why are you with Hertha?â
âThalassa, Iâm off today. I stopped by to see the kids, Hertha explained.
âOkay, Thalassa responded, âI feel a lot better after talking with you. Iâve got to get back to work now.
Bye.â
After venting to Hertha and hearing her kidsâ encouragement, Thalassa felt reinvigorated.
Soon, she had finished her cleaning duties on the top floor.
She was about to take the elevator down after cleaning her map in the restroom when she saw a figure disappearing into the stairwell.
This person seemed very mysterious.
Driven by curiosity, Thalassa decided to follow.
