Trey's POV

I'm sitting on the couch, focused on the game. My headset's on, the controller in my hands, eyes locked on the screen as I listen to the chaos in my earpiece. I'm deep into it, hands moving fast, but I can feel Zay beside me, like he's been quietly watching me for a minute now.

I already know what this is.

I don't need to look at him to know he's been trying to get my attention. Zay don't do subtle. He's been all up in my space-shifting, sighing, moving around-but he ain't said a word.

I glance over at him, and sure enough, he's sitting right beside me, eyes narrowed like he's got something on his mind. He leans in closer, his knee brushing against mine.

"Pa," he says, voice a little whiny but not begging, just demanding. "Pay attention to me."

I keep my eyes on the screen, but I can't help but smirk. "Hold up, baby. I'm tryna finish this."

He doesn't like that answer. I can tell by the way he huffs, sliding onto my lap without warning, locking his arms around my neck like he's trying to make sure I can't get away. He's not saying anything more. He doesn't have to.

Zay's just gonna get comfortable, make sure I'm feeling his weight on me, and that's all he needs to do. He doesn't beg for attention; he just claims it.

I can't help but chuckle, not even taking my eyes off the game. But, as usual, I can't leave him hangin'. I drop the controller down on the couch, hands immediately reaching around his waist, pulling him a little closer, my fingers brushing over the fabric of his hoodie, rubbing along his back.

He pouts slightly when I don't immediately turn the game off, but I know he's not mad. He's just making sure I get the hint. He rubs his cheek against mine like a damn cat, and I let him.

"Comfortable, love?" I ask, a little smile creeping across my face as I lean my head back against the couch, letting him settle in.

He just hums, nuzzling against me. "I'm good, Pa. Just need you here, that's all."

I keep my hand on his lower back, rubbing in soft circles. I'm not distracted by the game anymore-if I'm being real, I'm not even playing anymore. I'm just here, feeling him close.

"You're always good with me," I say, finally taking the headset off and tossing it aside, my attention fully on him now.

Zay smiles, satisfied now. He stays close, not asking for anything more than to just be here with me. And that's enough. For both of us.
