Trey wasn't the type to sit on the phone for hours, but Zay had a way of making him break his own rules. It was damn near midnight when Zay hit his line.
Zay: "You up?"
Trey stared at the message for a second, debating if he wanted to entertain whatever this was about. Instead of replying, he called.
"Yo," Zay answered after the first ring, his voice low like he ain't want nobody in his business.
"What?" Trey asked, straight to the point.
Zay sucked his teeth. "Damn, nigga. You could at least act like you happy to hear my voice."
Trey exhaled, rubbing his hand down his face. "You callin' this late for a reason?"
Zay paused for a second before saying, "Come get me."
Trey's brows pulled together. "What?"
"Come get me," Zay repeated. "I'm at my cousin crib, but I ain't tryna stay here tonight. Niggas got too much goin' on."
Trey knew how Zay's family was. Every time Zay got around them, it was always some extra shit. Still, he hesitated. "Ain't got no ride?"
"Nah, my brother dipped with my car," Zay muttered. "I'd Uber, but I ain't tryna be sittin' in no stranger's shit at this time of night."
Trey sighed, already grabbing his keys. "Send me the addy."

The house Zay was posted at was deep in the city, on a street Trey ain't really fuck with like that. It wasn't the safest area, but that ain't matter to him. If Zay needed him, he was there. Simple as that.
Trey pulled up, cutting the headlights as he texted Zay: Outside.
A few moments later, Zay stepped out the house, hoodie up, hands tucked in his pockets. He walked over to the passenger side and slid in, letting out a deep breath. "Good lookin'."
Trey just nodded and pulled off. "What was goin' on in there?"
"Same shit. My cousin got her dude over, they arguing. Then my brother talkin' crazy 'cause he high, and I just ain't feel like dealin' with it." Zay glanced over at Trey. "I just needed some peace, feel me?"
Trey hummed in response, gripping the wheel with one hand while the other rested on his lap.
Zay leaned back in his seat, looking out the window. "Where we goin'?"
Trey smirked slightly. "My spot, unless you got somewhere else in mind."
Zay turned to face him, his usual playful smirk creeping onto his lips. "Oh, you just decided that for me?"
Trey glanced at him out the corner of his eye. "Ain't hear you say different."
Zay licked his lips, studying Trey's face. "Bet. But don't be actin' funny when I start takin' over your bed."
Trey scoffed, shaking his head. "You do that shit anyway."
Zay grinned, getting comfortable. "And"
Trey ain't respond, but the small smirk on his face told Zay everything he needed to know
