Trey's phone buzzes as he stands outside the corner store. He's been running errands, picking up stuff for his mom, and just vibing with his thoughts when the notification pops up: Zay.
His heart does a little flip, but he ain't trippin' no more. He's not overthinking it. Zay's his man now, simple as that. Trey's been open to the idea for a minute now, and they've been kicking it heavy. He already knows what's up. They've kissed. They've talked about it. They've even argued about it-nothing crazy, but it's all part of the process.
Trey looks down at his phone, his thumb hovering over Zay's name, and before he can think too hard about it, he taps the message.
Zay: Pull up to mine in a few? I'm tryna see you.
Trey smiles to himself, leaning against the corner store wall. He can already picture Zay's laid-back smile, the one that gets Trey every time.
Trey: Bet, I'm on my way.
He slides the phone into his pocket, throwing a glance at his watch. He's got time to get to Zay's place, maybe grab something to eat along the way.
As he walks to his car, his thoughts start to drift back to the first time he really saw Zay for what he was-a man he couldn't get out of his head. Zay wasn't playing games. He wasn't acting like some "man of mystery" trying to test him. Zay's approach was straightforward, and honestly, that's exactly what Trey needed. No games.
When he gets to Zay's building, he parks and heads up to the door, knocking once before letting himself in. He ain't even got to announce himself-Zay's already there, opening the door with a smirk on his face.
"You actually came," Zay teases, looking Trey up and down.
Trey grins, leaning against the doorframe as he steps inside. "What, you thought I was gonna leave you hangin'?"
Zay shrugs but pulls him inside, closing the door behind him with a casual flick of his wrist. "I wasn't sure. You've been movin' funny lately."
Trey raises an eyebrow. "Funny? Ain't nobody movin' funny. I been handling my business, that's all."
Zay chuckles, walking past him and tossing his jacket onto the couch. "Yeah, I feel that. But you know... I like seeing you more than just once a week, Trey."
Trey steps closer to him, letting the silence sit for a moment. He's not rushing to fill the space with words. Instead, he watches Zay, letting his gaze linger. The way Zay stands, the little quirks of his smile, everything about him pulls Trey in. He's not scared of what this is anymore. He's past that.
"Man, I'm here now. Ain't nothing funny about it." Trey steps in, closing the distance, and before Zay can respond, he grabs his face, pulling him in for a kiss.
Zay doesn't hold back. He responds immediately, his hand sliding around Trey's waist, pulling him even closer. It's not the first kiss-they've had plenty of those-but every time, it feels new. It feels right.
When they break apart, Zay looks at him with those dark eyes, and Trey can feel that same pull, the one that's been drawing him closer with every passing moment.
"You sure you're ready for this?" Zay asks softly, fingers brushing Trey's jawline.
Trey nods, his thumb tracing Zay's lips as he speaks. "I been ready. I ain't running from you no more."
Zay smirks again, but this time it's softer, like he knows they've crossed a line into something real. "Good. 'Cause I wasn't about to let you keep playin' around."
Trey chuckles. "Who said I was playin'?" He pauses, taking a deep breath. "We good, Zay. This-whatever this is-it's real."
Zay's grin fades into something a little more serious. "Yeah, it is." He pulls Trey in for another kiss, longer this time, like he's trying to show Trey that his feelings ain't going nowhere.
Trey's hands slide up Zay's shirt, feeling the muscles beneath, and for the first time, he doesn't question it. He doesn't second-guess the moment. Zay's the one he's been looking for, and Trey's ready to let it be just that.
As they break apart, Zay looks at him with a soft smile, a rare thing that makes Trey's heart skip a beat. "I been wanting this for a minute, Trey."
Trey laughs lightly, running a hand through his hair. "Me too." He lets out a sigh. "We ain't perfect, but we gon' figure this out."
Zay pulls him in for another kiss, quick but full of promise. "I'm down for that."
Trey rests his forehead against Zay's, closing his eyes for a moment. "Yeah, me too."
They stay there for a few moments, just breathing each other in. The weight of everything between them hangs in the air, but for once, Trey doesn't feel like he has to rush or fight it. He's where he's supposed to be. With Zay.
And as the night goes on, they continue to just be. No questions, no complications-just them, living in this moment. Together.
