I pulled open the door to see Cece smiling at me. "Hi."

"Hey." She continued to smile as my phone buzzed.

"Can I help you?" I asked.

"Game night."

"With?"

"Cora, Lena, E, and Jess."

"Really? Jess." I sighed.

"Don't worry, she got a girlfriend now."

"By the way, who was that girl you were making out with last week at the party?"

"No one, don't worry about her." She quickly went into the kitchen and I grabbed my phone.

E: 'so apparently I'm coming to a game night?'

'Just found out, kill me'

E: 'gee, thanks Vivan excited to see you too'

'No, I'm excited to see you. I just don't like ceces friends'

E: 'how'd you meet her?'

'Kindergarten.'

"Viv, don't forget tomorrow it's garbage day."

"Thanks." I shoved on my shoes and pulled the bag out of the trashcan. I tied it up and went out the door, as I threw it in the garage box it landed upside down and I noticed a cigarette pack, I looked closer and saw it was the piece I thought for sure I dreamt of. I tore a small hole in the bag and pulled it out finding E's number on the back of it... it wasn't a dream...

Around four o'clock Lena showed up, a few minutes later Cora came, then E. Jess was fashionably late by fifteen minutes.

"Hey." E said coming into the kitchen as I poured chips into a bowl.

"Hey." I smiled over at her.

"How's life."

"It's... life." I nodded.

"You ok." I nodded again.

"Tired."

"Do you think we can talk later?" She said taking one of the bowls.

"Yea." I nodded.

"Ok." She walked to the living room and I watched her for a second before I followed. For the past week, we've talked every day, she's been odd the past day and a half though. I couldn't concentrate on any of the games, I kept losing focus and looking at E. There was something very different about her, she seemed on edge and angry. My phone buzzed and I looked down to see a text from E.

E: 'can we talk now.'

E: 'please.' I glanced around the coffee table to see the three girls too into the conversation.

"My sister is calling me, I'll be right back," I said and Cece nodded not paying attention. I went outside and after a few seconds, E walked out. "What u-"

"Let's walk over there." I followed her towards the tree line of the property.

"E what's wrong?"

"I just..." she shook her head and pulled out a cigarette putting it between her lips.

"Can you trust me?" She asked.

"Ok, Emma your kinda scaring me."

"Good."

"E-"

"Shut up... I need to think."

"Hey, what the hell is up?"

"Let me just think of a second."

"You're the one who wanted me to talk to you."

"I need you for once in your life to not ask any questions but come with me."

"Where?"

"What'd I just tell you, Viv?"

"Well, I'm not going to follow a stranger somewhere."

"If I wanted to hurt you I would have last week. Can you just trust me and get out of here tonight, I'll pick you up. Say you're going to your sisters or something."

"That's a little impossible, my sister lives in Canada."

"Well just think of something ok."

"Emma I need to know what's going on... I can't just trust you like that."

"What if I tell you it's life or death?"

"Are you threatening me? Are you fucking crazy?" I asked. My heart was pounding, I knew there was something up with her but I'm just confused now.

"Jesus christ Vivian..." she sighed.

"Lovers ready?" Cece yelled from the door. Thank you Cece for saving me...

"She didn't save you, I wasn't going to hurt you." E said and before I could talk she was walking toward the house putting her cigarette out on a rock. The night passed in a daze, finally, everyone was getting ready to go home and E walked over to me, once Cece noticed E spoke.

"So the movie starts at nine, I'll be back to pick you up once I drive Lena home."

"I-"

"Ouuu." Cece said walking away. I looked at E nervously. As the door closed Cece was nearly bouncing.

"I think I'm going to call it off."

"No! No you can't." She shook her head. "Please? It's just a movie. You need to do it." I played with my fingers. "Go get changed. Go. Call me when you get home ok?" She said walking towards the door and I nodded. I went into my room and wanted to cry.
