I woke to four eyes looking at me. I blinked for a second and sighed. "Stop staring at me."
"How are you feeling?" Jade asked.
"I gotta go." I sat up and looked at E. Please don't leave... please. "I'll text you later- I got dinner plans." You need to feed- oh... please come back.
"Thanks for staying with her," Jade said, laying her nurse bag on the coffee table.
"No problem, anytime." She smiled and left.
"Can I see your head?" She asked. I turned around, and she poked at it, making me cringe in pain. "It looks ok, and I brought some gauze from the hospital and inadine."
"That stuff hurts." I sighed.
"No, it doesn't. It's ok." She said. My brain couldn't stop thinking about E. Can she manipulate my dreams?
'Bingo,' I jumped when the voice in my head wasn't my own or my demons. E?
"I haven't even touched it yet." Jade giggled. "Stay still." Oh my god, am I losing my mind? Do I miss her that much?
'I'm learning.' My head hurt again; what the hell... 'I'll miss you.'
"Don't leave," I said out loud by mistake.
"Do you want me to stay tonight?" Jade asked, and I held my breath.
"I... I mean, if you want..." I wanted to cry. She cleaned my wound, told me I should have gotten stitches and said she needed to shower. I got her a pair of my leggings and a shirt for her; she smiled at me as I passed it to her, and I quickly grabbed my phone. I had a missed call from E. I checked my voice mail.
"Hey, it's me... uh, obviously. Listen, I know your probably... busy. I know I shouldn't call you blocked your thoughts for a reason and-" I didn't listen to the rest of the message; I hung up and pressed her number. After the third time I called, she answered, sounding out of breath. "What?" She snapped.
"E. I can't speak, Emma. I can't speak whatever cryptic tone you used in the 18- whatever you said you were born in."
"I'm busy right now."
"No, you are going to tell me about whatever the hell my dreams have been about. Why am I dreaming about Annie- about myself... E I need answers."
"We don't have long. I was stupid for showing you us. I wanted you to remember how happy you were with Jade."
"We were fucking kids. That was before, careers, living together, her fucking my sister." I hissed. "You're now." I sighed.
"Listen, I got to go."
"E, you can't leave. I want to talk to you. I want to see us."
"Vivian."
"No, Emma. Listen to me. If you leave, I will not hesitate to turn the world upside down to find you."
"I need to do this."
"What? What do you need to do?"
"I..." she stopped. It was dead silence. "Tomorrow, when Jade goes home, I'll bring coffee."
"Thank you." I sighed. The call ended 6 I turned towards the bathroom. As the door opened; Jade stepped out with a towel in her hair and my clothes on.
"Hey." She smiled.
"Hey."
"Listen..." she mumbled. "Never mind."
"What?" I asked.
"No, you're not well. I shouldn't stress you."
"Talk to me." I sighed.
"I... just want you to know that I truly am sorry."
"I know you are." I sighed, hating to admit it.
"And if you happy with E-"
"Were not together, Jade." I lifted my eyes to her, but then I looked away. I suddenly craved touch. She walked over, and before I knew what to do, she had her lips on mine, I was confused and even more so when I kissed back. No... no, stop it. I pushed her back lightly. "Jade."
"I miss you. I miss your skin on mine, and my fingers in your hair. It kills me not having you." E was all I could think about as I put my lips to hers again.
