Abhidnya's Pov.
I finally came out of the operation theatre after 36 hours. I sat in my cabin as I recollected yesterday's incident.
I had a glass of water to calm myself because I still can't believe that I met 'Shivansh Shetty' after 10 long years and that too as my 'blind date'.
I as a matter of fact know that he must be very angry by my sudden leave but I had too. I didn't have time to explain anything.
I got a call from my hospital that an emergency case has been admitted and they need me there. I can't say no to something related to someone's life. So I quickly got up and told him that I have to leave.
I don't remember him calling my name to stop, or maybe he must've called and I just didn't pay any attention as I was in a hurry.
As soon as I reached my hospital the nurse informed me that a lady is admitted and has a severe head injury due to a car accident.
I wanted to call or at least leave a message for mom and dad but I thought about doing it later as I had to hurry to examine the patient. So I just dismissed that thought and told the nurse to text that I'm busy and will get back to you as soon as possible from my hospital number to my dad's phone.
I saw my best friend, Neeti crying and Police interrogating her. I was shocked to see her there but also relieved that she wasn't injured. But what made me worry more were the thoughts crossing in my mind.
If it's not Neeti who had an accident then?
Because it was just Neeti and Swati Aunty, her mom who lived together, her dad passed away when she was 4. That's when it struck me.
The nurse was walking towards Neeti with papers for her to sign. I stopped the nurse, took the papers, and told her to prepare the operation theatre. "I'll be there in 5", I said.
I signed the papers, submitted them, and told the clerk to pay all the expenses from my account.
The police left saying they will be back after finding more evidence about the accident. Neeti just nodded.
The moment Neeti saw me, she ran and hugged me. She kept saying, "Abhi, mom, she had an accident. Please save her."
"Everything will be fine, Neeti," I said while consoling her.
I couldn't see her in pain like this, but I also can't give her false hopes.
I made her sit and went for the operation.
Due to severe injuries in the brain, the blood loss was more. I quickly told the nurse to arrange the blood.
As the operation was performed, simultaneously the nurses cleaned all the wounds and bandaged them. Aunty was quickly put on blood transfusion and salines.
But the injuries at the frontal lobe were severe. After the operation which lasted for 36 hours, I left the OT and was returning to my cabin.
I saw Neeti in the corridor, standing in front of the Ganesh idol. I know she was praying for her mother to recover fast. But I can't watch her like this, she didn't rest, no food, not even a drop of water.
I stood beside her.
"Please stop crying, Neeti."
She composed herself. I sensed that she wanted to know how her mom was doing.
"Aunty is out of danger but we have to keep her under supervision as she's still recovering. After a week or so you can take her home."
"Thank you, Abhi!" She nodded with a faint smile. and thanked me.
"Now go home, "I told her to which she quickly denied.
I know how stubborn she is. But somehow I convinced her to go home, take rest, and told her not to worry much.
"I'm here to take care of Aunty."
She went home and I went to my cabin. I had a shower and changed into fresh clothes.
As most of the time it's emergency, I keep my essential stuff in my cabin.
It was the third day and we're still waiting for Aunty to regain consciousness. Neeti was still worried but I continuously kept telling her that it takes time to recover and she'll be conscious soon.
On the fourth day, I was on my checkup round, when I saw Aunty struggling to get a glass of water. I quickly grabbed it and helped her drink water.
She was surprised and happy to see me there. I told the nurse to inform Neeti and sat beside her.
"How are you feeling aunty? How's the pain?"
"I'm feeling good and the pain is minimal."
"Aunty even though the pain minimal, please don't stress yourself and you need to take care of yourself more than before."
She listened to everything to what I'm saying.
After my parents, she's the person who has always treated me as her daughter. For her Neeti and I were sisters.
Neeti reached with food and fruit juices. She carefully hugged her mom and the three of us started shedding tears.
I loved both of them a lot. They have always been there when I needed them.
I was relieved that Aunty was doing much better. And now, even Neeti is happy to see her mom fine.
Neeti started feeding her food.
"Neeti, you need to follow the diet plan. I'll send you the diet plan and everything, don't let her stress about anything and even though I'll discharge you after 4 days you won't leave bed for a month. Take proper rest and don't even try negotiating this with me." I half ordered her because I knew she would never stay home for a month.
I left the room as I had to complete my checkup round.
And the rest of the week went into taking care of Aunty as she was recovering but still she needed proper supervision.
