Looking all fancy and indifferent, Herman strutted towards Cason. Each step made Casonâs nerves jangle Herman smirked slightly, ordering the two behind him, âYou guys, scram His secretary and Nelson got the drift, murmured in acknowledgment, and left, shutting the door behind them.
Herman walked past Cason, flopped down on a leather couch, lit a cigarette, and took a drag with an elegant yet slightly rogue gesture.
His gaze was razor-sharp as he stared at Cason, his voice icy âSpill the beansâ
Cason had initially planned to play mind games with Herman but he didnât dare now. Any more tricks and Herman might just kick him out without batting an eye.
Cason was here for one thing â money. If he kept dodging his debts, his creditors wouldnât be so forgiving if they came knocking, at best heâd get a beating, at worst, it could cost him his life Cason wheeled his chair closer, separated by a table, he said, âMr. Salstrom, I bet you didnât know that Anastasia had a kid, did you? She had one back in college, which was why she dropped outâ
Cason knew the real reason why Anastasia had a child and about her memory loss but he wasnt about to spill it all.
Regardless, Anastasia having a child was a fact he wasnât lying about. Whether Anastasia was manipulated or it was her own doing, it didnât matter anymore. All he wanted was to irk Herman and get his money.
Herman, poker-faced, asked, âGot any proof?â
âMr. Salstrom, take a lookâ Cason presented the evidence. âThese are Anastasiaâs prenatal checkup records from the hospital. The child was born four years ago, so it should be over four years old now.
Mr. Salstrom, Iâm just like you, a man deceived by Anastasia. I donât want you to be fooled againâ
Herman looked at the documents nonchalantly. He had already found out about the private detective Cason had hired. Moreover, he had already gotten wind about Anastasiaâs child and even knew more about her depression Herman tossed the documents on the table. His face was expressionless as he looked at Cason âHow much do you want?â
Cason was taken aback by Hermanâs nonchalance âMr. Salstrom, Anastasia deceived you, arenât you pissed?â Cason couldnât figure out Herman, he said, âSuch a loose woman is not fit to be the wife of the CEO of Elysian Technologies. Mr. Salstrom, now you know, Anastasia carried another manâs childâ
Cason deliberately kept bringing up this issue, trying to provoke Herman.
But Herman remained unruffled Flicking his cigarette ash nonchalantly, he said, âAnastasia sure was unlucky to cross paths with you. Okay, spit it out. How much to shut you up? Youâre here for the money, right? Donât waste my timeâ
âMr. Salstrom, youâre so generous, so forgiving, you can even tolerate this. Iâm quite impressed. Cason sneered and raised a finger. âThis price. I believe, Mr. Salstrom, you wonât be stingy. After all, this is nothing compared to your reputationâ
âTen million?â Herman sneered Cason smiled âMr. Salstrom, ten million is chump change for you, isnât it? As long as the money is night, I promise to keep it under wraps, and wonât leak a wordâ
âYouâre not cheapâ Herman took a drag on his cigarette, appearing to mull over Casonâs terms Cason, worried that Herman might refuse, added, âMr. Salstrom, ten million to protect your name and honor, I believe itâs totally worth it, if Anastasiaâs scandal gets out, it wonât do anyone any good.â
Herman chuckled âFine, deal. Give me your bank info, Ill wire you the money right now. Ten million, Once you get the money, you must leave Riverdale. if this gets leaked, Iâll find another way to ensure your silence.â
Another way to ensure his silence that meant to silence Cason permanently. After all, it was true, only dead men tell no tales.
