At this stage, it doesn't surprise me
when people leave.
I'm surprised
when they actually stay.
It doesn't shock me
when my heart start to grieve.
I'm surprised
When their stay allows me relief.
Loyalty feels like
a rare, exotic bloom.
Constancy shocks me
in this life of gloom.
I've learned to built my walls high,
fortified against loss.
Yet when someone lingers,
I'm at a loss.
Their presence a puzzle,
a riddle I can't solve.
Why choose to remain
Where others chose to dissolve?
Perhaps there's reason
in going through the storm.
In finding home
where others don't know form.
So I'll cherish those
who defy my doubt.
And learn to trust
that some won't walk out.
