When I finally got home, the first thing I did was to flop down on my bed.
I was late for the bus, so I had to walk almost half an hour, and the last ten minutes I found myself climbing up the hill on the road. No wonder none of the people that live in my neighborhood passed by me on foot.
I thought I was going to faint. Does that make me sound like a spoiled brat? Well, if it does then I don't care.
Uncle Bart forgot to tell me what time the bus that was supposed to take me back left.
I think I'm going to feel that long way I did tomorrow in the morning.
I groaned.
I got punched, threatened and my legs are killing me.
All I had wanted to right now was to take a long, long nap.
But of course, my head doesn't want to let me do that, because questions soon floated in my mind;
Will I be able to make the students see me as one of them?
Is it possible to change them so they can become a better person?
And when the hell will Uncle Bart realize he had to be more serious when it comes to supervision and punishments?
I shook my head, turning on the bed.
I couldn't tell if Aunt was already home, since there was silence. Then again, that's how it usually is, except for when she's yelling into her phone, passing in the corridor.
The house wasn't that big; it was a two story house with four bedrooms, two guest rooms and three bathrooms. The yard wasn't huge either. There was on in the front that connected to the back through the sides. I think there was supposed to be a pool in the back, but I can't really remember since I don't go there a lot.
Maybe is should stop worrying too much. Maybe, if I'll just be myself, they will accept me.
But the problem was;
I didn't know if the real Rhi was enough.

The next day, the weather got a bit colder. A few days ago and yesterday, it was warm outside, and sometimes even hot.
I didn't complain. I never liked being hot. It was better being cold, than sweaty and itchy all over.
I didn't feel like wearing stocking today, so I picked some bright blue skinny jeans, a white lace blouse with short sleeves and put on my black leather jacket. If it were to get warmer, I could take the jacket off, though it wasn't too thick for really cold days.
Picking up a pair of flat, black ankle boots, my sunglasses already in my bag that its strap was hang on my shoulder, I walked down stairs.
I was one of those girls that stuffed their mouth even if they weren't very hungry.
But unfortunately for me, I wasn't born with a metabolism that help me to not gain weight even if I ate a dinner that looked a bit similar to a thanks giving meal. I worked to have the body that I wanted.
Okay, I might have lied. I don't feel very unfortunate to not have the "forever skinny" genes. At first I hated working out, but now I felt like I couldn't live without it.
I never like getting things I didn't earn.
So of course, stuffing myself wasn't a thing I could give up on.
"Don't overdo it, Rhi," I rolled my eyes, but there was a smile on my face from Belle's words.
Just as my hand came back with my second pretzel towards my mouth, another hand appeared and took it from me. "Hey!" I called, turning around to see my aunt munching on my food. "If you'll eat too much, your stomach will hurt, so you're welcome." I grunted in disapproval, but didn't argue further more.
Besides, I had gym class after homeroom, or whatever they called it there. I still couldn't get the hang of it.
"By the way, I hope you didn't forget about the event we have to go next month." I blinked at first, and then gave her a sheepish smile.
"What? No way, no way... Me? Forget? How can you think that..." Aunt gave me a pointed look.
"You forgot."
"I forgot."
Aunt sighed, fixing her already tidy hair. "Just remember to buy a new dress, a comfortable one- since it'll be at the park." I frowned at her. "What do you mean? I have dresses in my closet," I wiped my mouth with a napkin, standing up and putting one strap on my shoulder.
"Yes, but they are not fit for this event. Buy a classy, fancy one, but elegant too." I nodded, deciding that she won't go back on her words. Sometimes Aunt exaggerated when it comes to taking care of me. From buying too much things- to doing too much for me. Of course, I'm not complaining, I just wished she will think about herself more. I'm seventeen-since August-, I can take care of myself and I know what I want and need.
I shook my head from those thoughts, greeting both of them with 'goodbye' and did my way over to the bus satiation.

In my second day at Woodblock High, everyone seems a lot less cautious about me. A few even tried hitting on me. I almost hit them, though I figured it will make me look like i wasn't approachable.
The thing was; the day hasn't even started yet, and some already thought they can flirt with me. They saw me as a girl, with potential of being a girlfriend for one of them. I wanted them to see me as girl who was their friend.
I hoped their excitement will eventually go down, and wondered if I was really am one of the only girls they saw in a long time.
I didn't think I was ugly or anything, and I wasn't insecure. I just couldn't see myself with one of them like that. Well, for now.
In homeroom, I kept quiet at the back of the class, just observing and listening. No one tried to approach me. That was, until the teacher came in and asked us all to make a circle in the middle of the class. He had a young, nice and warm personality. Maybe in his late twenties. When I make any sign of doing as he said, he spotted me and gave me a reassuring smile, making all the attention to fall on me as he personally called me. I didn't wear my sunglasses since this morning, because the light didn't bother me that much. Also, I felt it was rude to do, especially to someone nice like him.
I felt a bit naked. Everyone could tell what I was feeling. Because I used the sunglasses to cover my expressions so much, I wasn't very good at hiding them. My eyes always showed what was on my mind. I was exposed.
Sitting down, I moved my hair away from my shoulders, trying to keep some distance those who put their chairs next to me. One of the boys didn't catch what I tried to do and set he chair down in one of the spaces besides me. It's not like there wasn't free spaces near others, too.
Well, I guess I did want to get along with them, so I shouldn't complain.
As I moved a bit from him to my other side, trying not to get too close to the other boy on my right, the door opened. At first I didn't recognized the guy that entered, but then the teacher-Mr. Nelson- greeted him. "Mr. Ross, nice of you to join us." I was bad with new faces and names, since I didn't have much of a practice at getting to know people, so it didn't surprise me I couldn't remember him.
I put my leg over the other, putting one arm across my thigh and propped my elbow on it, resting my chin on my closed hand.
I heard a few of the boys greeting him as well, murmuring his name. Reagan, I think.
"Take a chair and join the circle, will you please?" He did as he said and took a chair. I was a bit wary that he'll sit next to me, but fortunately-he picked space near a group of boys who talked so much that they were warned they'll be send to the Vice-principal office. I don't think they would go there, even if the teacher will carry out his threat.
"So, first thing first- Ms. Martins, will you please introduce yourself?" I put the propped arm top of the other, straighten up a bit. A friendly smile formed on my face almost immediately, too.
"My name is Rhiannon, though you can call me Rhi. I recently transferred from another school. Nice to meet you all." Mr. Nelson nodded, and before he could say anything someone else cut him.
"I heard you came here so the school board would know if it was okay to let girls in the school," I couldn't tell which one of them said that, since another opened his mouth. "Yeah, is it true? I heard the teachers whispering about it in the morning."
I shrugged, not looking at anyone in particular. Uncle Bart did want them to think that, so it wouldn't be a problem to confirm his question. "Sure, I guess you could say that." Maybe by saying it like that, it wouldn't really feel like I was lying to anyone.
"Wow, awesome! Can you imagine that?" I chuckled at their enthusiasm. Well, they were teenage boys.-it was a giving to act like that.
"More Rhiannons for everyone!" Someone else yelled, making others to laugh.
"Uh? What the hell?" Even though I scowled at the boy, I couldn't keep the smile of my face.
"I-I mean... Oh crap... Did I mess up already?" He asked his friends sheepishly, making more laugh.
I starting laughing as well, putting my and on my face and shook my head.
"Okay okay, quiet down everyone. Now that we laughed, let's start talking about more serious staff." Almost everyone groaned.
Even though some of the boys sent smiles my ways, I couldn't ignore to those who scowled at me.
Hopefully, they'll accept me as well.

Unfortunately for me, the sun suddenly decided to come out just as my first class started.
The sunlight didn't bother me, really, since the windows were only a little under the ceiling, and a little above the floor.
But of course, the P.E teacher-Mrs. Vall- chose to make us do laps outside for the whole frigging hour.
Not me, Mrs. Vall. The last sport I shall ever agree to do is cardio.
So, here I am now, dressed with white simple shorts and shirt, looking at the shoes I was provided in addition for the clothes. My legs are going to get cold.
Maybe I should start bringing extra stockings or something.
Walking out of the gym, I put my sunglasses on and shoved my hand inside my jacket's pockets. What a pain of a day, it was.
And oh, the stares. I thought I was going to lash out on everyone.
In two days, it will die out. I hope.
The looks they gave me didn't make me feel special or anything, since I knew how they must of felt. A girl in their P.E class? That's going to be exciting. And then, very quickly- disappointing.
I don't do sport.
I sit down.
But with this sudden annoying weather, there's no way I'll be comfortable. And those guys had to run. Maybe this is my chance to do something for them.
I looked at the boys, taking my jacket and tying the sleeves around my waist and sat down, waiting for the teacher to return.
A curly, blond hair boy sat beside me. I think he was about me height, but I couldn't tell while we were sitting.
He also had sunglasses on his face. No one besides us had any addition to the clothes and shoes, except hats. I was about to ask for his name, but Mrs. Val suddenly appeared. I puffed my cheeks as she glared at me, pointing me with her finger to come to her.
I shoved my hands inside the short's pockets, cocking my head to the side questionably.
"Yes Mrs. Val?" She sneered at my politeness. Our conversation echoed in the open space, breaking the silence.
"What the hell do you think you're doing wearing sunglasses in my class?" Mrs. Val demanded to know.
"The sun is bothering my eyes. Don't you know that the sun can be very dangerous for them?" I didn't give her the time to respond.
"Besides that, Mrs. Val. Why the hell are you making us run with this unpleasant sun burning our very healthy and still quite-new-to-world skin?" She gaped at me. I couldn't tell what the boys were thinking.
"Pardon me? I'm not going to get you inside the gym just because some spoiled brat doesn't want to ruin her beautiful toe nails she just got done!" I blinked at her.
"I didn't even... Mrs. Val, have you been stalking me? Even though I didn't get my nails done, how would you know if I did?" Mrs. Val's face reddened a bit.
"Moreover, I'm not the only one who doesn't want to run." I pointed at her males students. "Besides, it's hot. I'm dying." If it was even possible, her face caught even a more red color to them.
She paused, like she was thinking.
"Fine," She said in the end. "You can go inside. But do remember this encounter, young lady. You're on my list." A smile slowly appeared on my face. "Great."
I actually thought the drama was done for the day, but when I went out of the change room I got for my own, a hand caught me and pushed me to the wall.
The boy from yesterday glared at me with his pale, blue eyes. "Don't think that if you go and do things for us we'll see you as more than what you are." I cocked my brow, crossing my hands. "Which is?" He took a step back, as if he was a bit taken back by my respond. Then, the blank glare returned as fast as it disappeared. "A spoiled little girl who wants so very badly to fit in. But so you know; those guys only look at you because you're a new, different statute to the collection. In a few days, you'll be nothing more than a regular drawing." When a smirk formed on my face, I knew it wasn't the response he was waiting to get from me.
I took a step forward and put my face as close as possible to his, to show I wasn't intimidated. "I can't wait."
And then I walked away.
*
Stretching my hand over my head, sighing, I sat down in front of Caleb with a sleepy smile. I guess drama can do that to you.
My phone beeped as a reminder of a text message I got in second class-I think, and haven't read it yet. I silenced it and looked at the line.
"Why the hell do I keep forgetting my own food?" I murmured to myself. I think only then that Caleb noticed my presence.
He cleared his throat, unsurely. "Um... Do you want a-a half of my sandwich?" I gave him a smile.
I know him barely two days, and I already feel like we knew each other for a very long time.
Is this how friendship feels like? Because I like it very much.
"No, that's fine. Thank you." He sent me a shy smile and munched on his food.
The cafeteria doors opened, making the both of us, along with almost everyone, to turns towards it.
"That's Reagan Ross," Caleb unconsciously told me. I moved with my chair to sit next to him so he could introduce more of them to me. It scarped quite loudly, but no one seems to mind.
"Out of his group of friends, he's like the one you don't want to get close to. Even if you're a girl- he is still very dangerous." I nodded.
The chats around the room started again as Reagan stood in the line for the food. A few startled boys moved to let him get in front of them, but otherwise he stood the rest like the others.
I sighed again and looked at the clock. I slapped my hand on the table and got up, giving Caleb a bit too dramatic look.
"Okay, I'm going in. Wish me luck." He chuckled and waved at me. I caught his hand with two hands, leaning so my face was the level as his. He blushed a little and looked at me.
"Caleb, please promise if I don't come back you shall continue my legacy," I think he thought I was mad or something. Oh well- Better now the later.
"Promise me!" I called loudly when he didn't respond. "I-I promise!" I nodded in approval and started my way toward the line.
"Rhiannon Martins!" Someone yelled my name, making everyone quiet down again and look at the guy who called.
I lifted a brow. "Yeah?" The boy had a cocky smile on his tan face, his brown eyes twinkled mischievously. He moved forward until he had to look down at me.
"Since no one had the guts to ask, I thought it'll be great to be the first." I sighed dramatically.
"Oh god, no!" I lifted my hair and yanked it a bit in front of them. "These are not extensions, quite asking!" He blinked at me, confused. Then, he started to laugh.
"No, pretty girl, I wanted to ask you out." He gave me a charming smile. "Out? Out were?" He let out another chuckle, as if I was joking with him.
"How about you, me and a-" "Servus," Someone cut him off before he finished his sentence.
Reagan stepped besides me. "don't you think it's low to ask a girl who haven't even been here for two days to go out on a date? Did you even tell her your name?" Servus lifted a brow from Reagan's words. "Why? You want her? Don't worry, you can ask her after I'm done," "Blake." Reagan's called. I guessed it was his last name.
"It doesn't matter what you want to do with her, just show some respect and wait 'till she's comfortable enough."
I smiled and put a fist over my head in victory. "Yes! You tell 'em, cute boy!" They both looked at me with a frown on their face.
"Cute boy?" Servus asked. I lifted a brow at him. "Yeah, why? You want a nickname too? No problem." I shoved him back lightly.
"How does f*ck-boy sounds?" A round of laugh spreaded in the room.
He frowned at me, then glanced at Reagan. Then, he walked away. I turned around, looking at the line that was no longer there.
"Oh, good! The line cleared out!" Humming happily, I took a tray and moved to see the food.
But the only thing that was left was an apple. "What the... Dude," I called the lunch lady, picking up the apple. "this is embarrassing. I'm not on a diet, is this you telling me I should be?" She rolled her eyes and told me the cost. I grumpily paid and turned around.
All of a sudden, an arm appeared and a muffin with an energy bur were placed on my tray. Reagan nodded at me. "For being entraining." And then he walked away.
"Thanks.." I let out eventually, looking at the closing doors.
I hummed, feeling the curiosity in my stomach.
Reagan Ross, the scary boy. Or was he really?
