Chapter 44 of 60

Chapter 41: Tutor

With multiple trees around him, Glynne look a deep breath as he lowered his stance. On one of his hands was a training pistol. Flicking its safety trigger off, it powered up with a whirling sound as it let out a purple light.

Glynne started looking around as he tries to memorise and observe his surroundings. In between these foliage was a target that was hidden by Fu Hua a while ago. His task was to find and shoot it while doing the trick he did when sparring with Rita.

Focusing his Honkai energy on his feet, his training started with a BOOM. From tree to tree, Glynne used their branches to moved between them with great speed. It was a bit difficult as he needed to be careful to not land on any branches that can easily break. Though he has an option to still change direction mid-air, it was harder to pull sharper angles.

The surrounding around him are changing in a fast pace, but he was able to process it fast enough to able to scan the area thoroughly. Besides, it wasn't really that hard to spot the target as it was colored white, it will stick like a sore thumb compared to the brown and green colors of the forest.

There! — Glynne has spotted it moments after his first jump. It was a few hundred meters from his position, but he was sure that was it. Using a sturdy and flexible branch of a the nearby tree as a slingshot, he charge at it while he aims his gun.

But he ran out of time, he crashed into a some branches before he could pull the trigger. He gradually fell down on the ground and rolled into a bush that was able to soften his fall.

"Are you alright?!" appeared from the bushes and got near the boy to check on his condition. Fortunately, it was nothing big of a concern as he only got a few minor scratches. Other that that, his hair and clothes are messy as dirt and twigs have stuck to them.

"Yeah, I'm alright... " Glynne replied while heaving a huge sigh. He look up to see the leaves swaying with the wind as the morning sun rays penetrated through the gaps. "I guess that's another one to scratch on the failed attempt list."

Shooting accurately while moving is already a difficult thing to do. Especially now that he need to do it while doing a high speed acrobatics as he tries to mind his surroundings so he wouldn't crash into anything. This is the reason why Glynne was using knives when he battled Rita yesterday.

"I don't understand it, why are you fixated in doing this?" Fu Hua asked as she help the boy get up on his feet. Just like she said, this isn't the first time he was doing this. "Aren't you a sniper?" she said confused as the fighting technique he's learning is for those who fight in front.

"Ah, well...." Glynne scratches the back of his head as he was having a hard time finding a word for Fu Hua's question. "This is on the off-chance I would also need to fight in close quarters. Like inside buildings or caves where sniper rifle was hard to use."

It was a valid reason but Fu Hua still find it odd. She narrowed her eyes as she stare suspiciously at the boy.

"........."

"....... W-what?" Glynne felt awkward when Fu Hua started staring at him in silence for a while. The girl didn't answer and just break the staring contest while letting out a sigh.

"Anyways, that's it for today." Fu Hua declared as the time allotted for training has run out. She handed back some of Glynne's stuffs that she kept so it wouldn't get in the way when he practice. This is particularly for his phone as it may break in his pockets with how frequent the boy keep crashing. "By the way, you might want to check your phone. Seems like you got some messages."

Glynne tilted his head at the girl's words and decided to do just that. Operating, his phone, there are multiple messages that came from Kiana. It seems urgent so he quickly fixes himself and goes towards the changing room.

@@@@@@@@@@@

"So, did you called me for this?" Glynne raised an eyebrow as he seems to be not amused at the girl in front of him. The place they are in right now is the library as Kiana seems to be studying alone. It was pretty easy for the boy to guess where this is going.

"I'm sorry!" the girl apologizes as she bow her head. "Mei and Bronya have something urgent to do. So I had no other choice but to call you for help."

Glynne let out a sigh as he sat down in the seat in front of her. "I'm not that mad. It's just that I would appreciate if you don't disguise this as something urgent."

"It is urgent!"

Glynne was taken aback when the girl shouted at him. Now that he was reminded of it, he almost forgot that Kiana was someone who is having a hard time when it comes to studies.

Judging from the books opened on her desk and the test paper she is answering, the subject she was stuck with is mathematics. A subject that most people would find it annoying and difficult. Maybe because she remembered that Glynne wasn't one of those people, she called him for help.

The boy has no other choice as he let out a sigh. "Fine, I'll help you. Besides I was also thinking of reviewing so it's pretty much a win-win scenario."

"Really?!" Kiana eyes shined as she was happy and held both of Glynne's hands. "Thanks a lot!"

Glynne felt his face heating up as the girl is awfully close to him, not to mention, they are holding hands. He cleared his throat as he quickly retracted his hands and brought out some textbooks from his bag.

"Shall we get started then?" he suggested as Kiana nodded in agreement. Moving besides her, he begun to scan the test questions and her answers. Upon seeing it, he can't help but knit his eyebrows. "We might need to start over in this one."

"Why?!" Kiana exclaimed upon hearing the boy's words.

"Well, first of all, you got most of the question wrong." Glynne said while pointing at her mistakes. "Like seriously though, how come you're using a clearly different formula for this one. This one is just plain scribbles. And then this one is just purely guess work. You know, I sometimes has a urge to look inside that brain of yours."

"Aren't your words just too cruel!?" Kiana protested. She was already accustomed to some insults due to Bronya, however she would never thought that some would come out of the boy's mouth.

"You think so?" Glynne tilted his head as he fail to see any problems with his speech. Maybe voicing his honest opinions may not be the best approach but his mind is tired from the training to sugar coat his words.

"I'll apologise in advance but I am not Mei. If you got any complains, please save after we are done with this." He said as he grabbed Kiana's test paper and grab a new one from his bag. Actually, those are his papers but since it was still blank, a quick photocopy would do the trick. Fortunately, there is one machine available inside the library. As he handed her a fresh new copy, he sat besides Kiana and grab himself a pen.

"Eh?! You're doing this too?!" she asked, confused at the boy's actions.

"Yeah, I figured it's better to do the question with you at the same time. That way, I could show you which formula to use and how to use them. Of course, you should still need to answer them on your own." Glynne put a emphasis on his last sentence. This makes the girl gulp down in nervousness as her plan to just copy him seems to have been read.

She is hoping for Mei to come soon.

@@@@@@@@

"Ah, that took longer than expected." Mei muttered as she let out a sigh. As she was already finished with her business, she is now on her way towards the library to help Kiana in her studies. "I wonder what she's doing now?"

Kiana was not that very enthusiastic when it comes to studying. If she doesn't have any person to supervise her, she would likely write random things on her paper or just not do anything at all. Even so, Mei has a feeling that if her friend would at least have a motivation to focus on studying, she wouldn't fail too much. However, it was hopeless since Kiana was someone who only care about fighting and training.

As Mei was busy thinking what to do with her friend, time passes by quickly as she didn't notice that she was already in front of the library doors.

Once again, she let out a huge sigh, fully expecting to scold her friend after opening the door.

"Eh?" However she was surprised by what would met her sight. A black haired boy is busy giving pointers towards the struggling white haired girl.

As Kiana was checking how the formula is used, she leaned in closer to Glynne. Maybe because she was focus on her studies, she didn't notice how awfully close she was to the boy that it almost looks like they were hugging.

As for Glynne, he doesn't seems to mind it as he is also busy teaching the girl. Even when the soft parts are already touching his body, he was showing no signs of ever reacting to it, unlike the usual.

If unrelated people would see this, they would undoubtedly mistake them as flirting with each other. Even Mei would find it hard to argue to it as even her seems to see it.

Mei felt a bit happy for Kiana as she seems to be close to the boy to the point they they are acting very casual with each other. Perhaps her friend didn't noticed it yet but she was the closest one to Glynne out of the tenants of the of the dorm, of course, this excludes Rita.

Mei smiled knowing this was the case. However when she look at the scene in front of her, she felt a sudden pang in her chest. She wanted her friend to be happy but for some unknown reason, there is a feeling of something dark rising within her. She was trying her best to not think about it as she take a deep breath.

"Ah, Mei! You're already here!" However the feeling seems to go away when she heard her friend happily calling out her name.

"Yo, seems like you're done with your business." greeted Glynne as he also noticed Mei's arrival.

Mei smiles at them to hide the conflict inside of her and decided to join with their studies.
