Chapter 32: Battle Simulation (Part 1)

Today is Thursday, it means today is the day for Battle Simulation. However this coming weeks are a bit special. Since the promotion exams are coming, the special room is open for the whole day for those who are willing to test out their skills in a real battle situation.

Glynne fixed the fingerless gloves on his hands as he look himself on the mirror. The battlesuit really suit him quite well. He never get tried of looking at himself while wearing this.

"Dude, are you a girl or something?" a brown haired boy suddenly questions as he looks uncomfortable seeing Glynne stare at his reflection a bit longer than necessary.

"What do you mean?... Don't you also do this when you got new clothes?" Glynne casually replied back.

"I guess you have a point in there" the boy just shrugged his shoulders as he took out his battlesuit from the lockers.

Glynne once again fixed his appearance on the mirror. Once he was satisfied, he proceeded to walk out from the changing room.

"You're late... " Kiana said as soon as she saw him coming out.

"Hm? Why are you waiting for me Kiana?" Glynne questions, tilting his head as he was confused. "If I remember it right, your team is with Mei and Bronya."

"What? Is it wrong to check on a friend?" Kiana responded in a frown. She crossed her arms while glaring at Glynne.

"I-is that so," Glynne smiled wryly. She is without a doubt Siegfried's daughter, both are very troublesome to deal with it. Fortunately, years of dealing with the older Kaslana has taught him a thing or two. "Speaking of which, where are those two?"

"Oh you mean Mei and Bronya? They are at the observation deck, checking out the students currently using the room." Kiana said while pointing to the back.

Glynne almost forgot about the observation deck, he took a quick mental note to hold back a bit to avoid standing out more. Well, his duel with Kiana already caught the attention of Cocolia, he didn't know what other individuals would be caught if he would gain more popularity.

"By the way, has your teammates been decided yet?" Since they are already at the topic, Kiana was curious about who is teaming up with Glynne.

"Me?" Glynne pointed himself to make sure, in which earned him a nod. "I would be teaming up with Fu Hua. As for the last one, I think she is finding one right now."

Speaking of timing, Glynne phone vibrates to alert him of a message of Fu Hua finding a team member. "I should go now." He informed Kiana about the message.

Kiana nodded and bid good luck with each other. They each goes in separate direction, towards their respective team.

Glynne arrived at the preparation room. It was not soon that he saw Fu Hua as her blue modified cheongsam is sticking out like a sore thumb among all the military themed battlesuits.

He noticed Fu Hua talking to a girl with a croissant-like strawberry blonde hair, a pair of sharp crimson eyes, and a skimpy white and gold military themed battlesuit. Glynne always has the urged to question who came up with this kind of flashy design.

"Morning Fu Hua," He got near and greeted them. "And, uhm... Elena right?" he asked as he tries to recall her name.

"Morning Glynne," Fu Hua greeted back.

"I'm surprised you already know my name." Elena said as she flipped her hair. "But I guess its typical for a man like you."

Of course he would, Glynne can't help but smile wryly as he always took notes on any troublesome individual. A prime example is here, a woman who is infamous as a man-hater. Well in this female dominant world, there is no shortage of someone like her.

"Just my luck.... " He muttered in his breath, not wanting to deal with her.

"Hmph, I thought I was lucky to be paired with the famous Fu Hua, I never expected a leech would also come with the package." Elena crossed her arms as her tongue seems to be laced in poison everytime she talk to him.

Aren't you also leeching off Fu Hua. - Glynne retorted in his head. It was the best move to just stay silent with this kind of people. Simply talking back to them would worsen the situation.

"Hmm, cat got your tongue? I guess I hit the mark." Elena laughed "Ohohohoh" while turning around to continue talking to Fu Hua.

Glynne only let out a sigh... It's a long day ahead of him.

"Ms. Elena, I would appreciate if you would get along with Glynne." Fu Hua reprimanded.

"Hmph, as long as he would not get in my way." Elena said was she flipped her hair. "Oh right, there is also that rumor..... Crash boy..., quite an unfortunate nickname" Elena giggles trying to mock Glynne.

"Wait?! Will you repeat that again?" Glynne reflexively asked as he can't stay quiet at what she just said. He don't care about what the title is, but gaining one means that his popularity would be boosted again. However she was ignoring him, he had no choice but to try to grab her shoulders.

Elena saw it with the corner of her eyes and suddenly slapped Glynne's hands. "DON'T TOUCH ME!" she exclaimed as almost everyone in the room flinched. It was not soon that they became the center of attention.

Glynne was taken aback at her reaction. It was a bit too much if she only hates men. He just stayed silent as she watched the girl walked out the room.

It was their turn to use the room. The atmosphere between the three is heavy. Fu Hua was lost at what to do as she look over her two teammates refusing to look each other on the eyes.

"Simulation is starting. Simulation is starting.... " the speakers repeatedly said as the team's surroundings begun to change. The floor they were standing on rise up as it slowly turned into dirt. Trees and bushes begun to sprung out, in a fashion that is similar to that of a 3D printer. A mist seems to crawl out of nowhere making the place cold and damp while the lights became a bit dimmer. In just a few minutes the whole room turned into jungle.

Glynne tries touching the trees. Despite them looking like holographic images just a while ago, they already became so solid that it was easy to mistake them for the real thing.

"As expected of a man, ignorant as ever." Elena remarked.

Glynne just ignored it as he put his sniper rifle on his back and casually climb up the tree. Using his scope, he begun scanning around the area. He then pressed the radio attached to his ear. "Checking, can everyone hear me?"

"Affirmative" Fu Hua replied.

"......" the other one didn't answer, clearly disgusted the she hears a man's voice near her ears.

Glynne just shrugged his shoulders, it would be a waste of time getting any answers from her. He scanned the area again as he sees honkai beast appearing at the distance.

Radical level honkai beast, their structure is very similar to that of a mosquito. A sharp head for piercing the enemy, and two large wings on its back that are always vibrating to help them hover in midair.

"As expected, they are not real." he muttered as he only feel a small amount of honkai energy in them. That's a fortunate case for him, since he really don't want his ability to be exposed. The fact that the honkai beast are only holographic simulation of the real things means that he wouldn't accidentally absorb them. Once again, he touched his radio as he reported to them about what he sees.

"Got it." Fu Hua nodded as she look over their other teammates. "Did you heard that Miss Elena?"

"Loud and clear!" Elena exclaimed as he brandished her rapier.

The two begun charging at the direction where the honkai beast are spawning.

BZZZZZZZZZZZ

Buzzing sound can be heard from the bushes as a Radical level honkai beast sprung out and charge at them.

Fu Hua intercepted it by kicking its head upwards and sent it flying. Elena followed through by releasing multiple strikes while midair.

"Watch out!" Fu Hua shouted as another honkai beast shoot out from the trees, aiming at the falling Elena. Luckily, she was able to produced a ball of Ki energy in time and shoot it towards the beast.

With its momentum dampen by the previous attack, Elena use it as a stepping stone to cushion her fall. Once down on the ground, she didn't forget to finish it off.

"Thanks for that!" Elena said as she face Fu Hua.

"No problem" Fu Hua replied while fixing her glasses with one hand.

However, it seems like it wasn't the time for idle talk. Buzzing sounds are still can be heard from the surroundings. Both Elena and Fu Hua face the opposite direction as both are trusting each other's back.
