Chapter 11: Approaching Danger

Thud...

With a soft thud, Glynne toss himself unto his couch. Enjoying it's softness, he felt all of his remaining energy getting drained.

"This is quite a troublesome situation...." he muttered under his breath as he look up in daze at the ceiling.

The words spoken by Fu Hua during the lunch break, he can't seems to get it out in his head. His mind has been preoccupied ever since then that he didn't even pay much attention to his afternoon classes anymore.

It was clear that he was bothered by it... As is to be expected, since it was a matter of life or death for him.

"You're in danger..." Fu Hua ominously muttered right after they found a spot with no people.

Glynne flinch a bit after hearing it. "W-what you mean?" he asked in a trembling voice.

"Apparently, there is a suspicion about you holding a powerful stigmata." she said while observing Glynne's state.

"And so, what that supposed to do with me being in danger?" Glynne asked in confusion as he failed to connect the dots."

"If you're studying well, you might already know that implanted stigmata has low compatibility with males. There is a lot of theory surrounding it but the most prominent one is because there was a certain organ that can only be found female body. Because of this organ, the female body has a higher adaptability in controlling Honkai energy from artificial stigmata" Fu Hua raises her glasses as she explained. "However it was a different case for natural occurring stigmata. Because they appear naturally on an individual, some theory says that they had a great compatibility with it. However there are some who suggest that the individual just got lucky. Glynne, because you are able to go toe to toe with a higher C-Rank Valkyrja, it is speculated that you hold a powerful stigmata that made you capable in doing so. A quick question, what might happen if that supposedly strong stigmata of yours will be transferred to a female body?"

Glynne clenched his fist, he was not that dull to need any further explanation. It was still a theory but remembering how people would do anything in this world to prove it, he cannot simply dismissed the danger.

"Seems like you already guessed it." Fu Hua said impressed as she moved closer to Glynne. "Although we already know this was not the case. People cannot be stopped that easily even if we expose this. On contrary, you might get in more danger."

Glynne look downwards to his trembling hands. "So what would you suggest I should do now?"

Fu Hua was astonished, she was expecting Glynne to cower in fear just like what he did last week. However far from that, she could see in the boy's eyes that he will not back down even when facing against large organizations.

Then what happened last week was all just an act?.... No, what she saw was definitely genuine. There might be a reason why he acted differently that day. Whatever it may be she felt something that she shouldn't pry deeper into it. Besides, there is more important things to be discuss.

"As of now can only think of two choices." Fu Hua said raising her two fingers. "Either to run and hide to wait for the situation to cool down, —"

"As if that gonna happen." Glynne interrupted as he crossed his arms.

Fu Hua already guess that was the case. "—Or join under the wing of the Far East Branch of Schicksal."

Glynne cannot forget Fu Hua's smile when she said that.

" "I'll expect you answers soon", huh. " he muttered as he repeated the class president's words after they separated.

Ding!

His thought was suddenly interrupted when his doorbell ring.

They're here already? — Glynne thought in suspicion as he rise up from his couch. He put his arms inbetween the pillows and grab a M1911 pistol that he hid there.

Cautiously, he move towards his front door. Raising his gun up, he was ready to aim and when someone might blast down his door and forcibly enter.

Fortunately the intercom was located a bit further away from the door, when Glynne was able to reach and activate it. "Who's there?" he said.

"Ah, thanks goodness you are there. Uhm Glynne, its me Mei." a familiar voice came through.

Glynne raises his eyebrow. He can tell it wasn't some kind of a recording or whatever, but for Mei to visit him in his apartment was definitely suspicious. However it would be rude to just chase her away so he had no other choice but to let her in.

He fixed himself and hides his gun in a hidden holster under his uniform. Still having his guard up, he opened the door to see a beautiful dark haired girl waiting in his doorstep.

Mei wanted to confront Glynne about what happened between him and his friend. However she just keep missing her chance to do so.

Even though a perfect chance has presented itself when Kiana offered to help him with his studies. It was interrupted when Fu Hua drags him away to talk to him privately.

It was still okay as she thought she might still able to talk to him before he goes home but after their private talk, Glynne has been unresponsive the whole afternoon. Mei tried a couple of times talking to him but she was only ignored as he seems to be in a trance.

She doesn't want to delay it any further. She can't bear seeing Kiana feeling down whenever she sees Glynne. Thus leading her to decide in visiting him at his home.

Clink

She was interrupted in her thoughts when something was placed in front of her. She look and see a glass of orange juice the is still cold base on the water droplets dripping on its sides.

"Ah wait, you shouldn't have troubled yourself for me. I'm only here to ask a quick question." she said as she offered the juice back.

"I insist, you are still a guest of mine, whatever your reason might be for coming here" Glynne said as he drink his own share.

Seeing how Glynne was seem to be stubborn about it, she reluctantly took the juice and drink it. In all honesty though, Mei was grateful for the gesture as the boy's home was a bit farther from the school than what she expected.

While enjoying the juice, she can't help but wander her eyes around Glynne's apartment. The whole room can be sum up in one word, 'Simple'.

Aside from basic furniture, like the bed, couch, stove, and everything every apartment initially has, his room was surprisingly empty. No TV or books for entertainment, no potted plants or posters for decoration, it feels like the there was no one living here in the first place.

"Yeah, disappointing isn't? I always go out so I never had a chance to take care of this place." Glynne said in a wry smile as he noticed Mei's gaze. "Anyway back to the topic, what did you came her for?"

Having been reminded the reason why she was here, Mei put down her drink and started explaining Glynne about Kiana.

".... So that's why she's acting so weird." Glynne muttered as he scratched his head. "And here I thought it's that the time of the month."

"You know, I might have slapped you for that." Mei said, irritated at Glynne's words.

"Sorry bout that, I should have worded it better." Glynne offered an apology. "Well putting that aside, Kiana was really troublesome to deal with."

Even though the boy was talking bad about her friend, Mei still nodded as she cannot deny her friend's personalty.

"I'm sorry but I cannot tell you the reason." Glynne said in a sad tone,  "However I promise you that I'm gonna talk to her about this first thing in the morning."

"I see, " Mei said in  disappointment. Glynne refused to tell her what happened that day. She wanted to know about it but hold herself back as she felt like he was hiding it for personal reasons. She wasn't rude to just pry into a person's life just because she was curious. In the first place, her original goal is consoling Kiana. She is grateful that the one who is culprit of it all would offer his help. "...I appreciate it..."

With her business done, Mei was starting to prepare to leave. Seeing this, Glynne was about to offer his help, however....

Clashhh!!

They were interrupted by a sound of a window breaking.
