The ancient Keeper map pointed the way to a place called the Labyrinth of Forgotten Dreams, where, according to legends, the Shield of Truth was hidden.

"This place is very dangerous, Flora," Naeri warned. "The Labyrinth is not just a network of caves. It is a place where reality is distorted, where the past mixes with the present, and where one's most hidden fears and desires take physical form."

"But we need the Shield of Truth," Flora said firmly. "Without it, we cannot stand against the illusions of the Darkness. I must try."

"You will not go alone," Caelan said. "I and several of our best warriors will accompany you."

The party, consisting of Flora, Naeri, Caelan, and three Keepers, set out at dawn. The bravest of the Wanderer's crew went with them as well—Son, Brenn, and Masefeg.

The path to the Labyrinth lay through dead marshes and rocky gorges. Spawn of the Darkness ambushed them, but the combined force fought them off.

After two days of exhausting travel, they finally reached the entrance to the Labyrinth. It was a huge, gaping fissure in the side of an extinct volcano.

"From here, we go on alone," Naeri said, addressing Son, Brenn, and Masefeg. "The Labyrinth does not forgive those who are not prepared for its trials. Your fears and desires could become a hindrance for the Captain."

Son and Masefeg wanted to object, but Flora stopped them.

"Naeri is right," she said. "This is my path. Wait for me here. If I do not return in a day, leave."

The farewell was brief. Flora stepped into the darkness of the Labyrinth, following the Keepers.

Inside, it was dark and terrifying. Narrow, winding passages gave way to huge, echoing halls. The torches cast dancing shadows on the walls. The Labyrinth lived its own life; it changed, it played with them.

Suddenly, Flora heard a familiar voice. The voice of her father, Lord Elard.

"Flora? Daughter, is that you?"

She froze. She turned. Before her stood the image of her father, holding out his hand to her.

Flora took a step toward him, tears welling in her eyes.

But then Naeri grabbed her arm. "Careful, Flora! It is an illusion! A trap of the Labyrinth!"

Flora looked at the figure of her father. Something unkind flickered in his eyes. And she understood.

"You are not my father!" she shouted and drew "Whisper." The phantom let out a malicious howl and dissolved.

Flora was breathing heavily. It had been so real. So painful.

They went on. The Labyrinth continued to tempt her. She saw her mother, her brother Corin, her mentor Elian. Each time it was a temptation. But Flora remembered who she was. And she did not yield.

Finally, after many hours of wandering, they entered a vast, circular hall. In the center of the hall, on a high pedestal of white, glowing stone, lay the Shield.

It was round, made of a silvery metal that seemed to absorb and reflect light at the same time. Its surface was like a perfect mirror.

"There it is," Naeri whispered. "The Shield of Truth."

But approaching it was not so simple. A shimmering force field surrounded the pedestal. And before it stood a guardian.

It was... Flora. Her exact double. Only the eyes of this Flora were empty, lifeless, and a cold, cruel smirk played on her lips. In her hands, she held an exact copy of "Whisper."

"So this is who you are, Flora Disleyvane," the Double said in an icy voice. "A small, frightened girl, hiding behind the mask of a killer. You think you are worthy of this Shield? You, whose hands are stained with blood?"

"I am who I am," Flora answered, stepping forward. "With all my mistakes. But I am not afraid of you."

"Then prove it," the Double sneered and charged.

The fight began. A fight of Flora against herself. Her dark side.

The Double fought just as she did. The same techniques, the same speed, the same fury. It was the most difficult fight of her life. She was fighting a part of herself. The part she had tried to suppress for so long.

But now she understood. You cannot destroy a part of yourself. You can only accept it.

"You are me," Flora said, parrying another blow. "My fear. My fury. My pain. But I am no longer afraid of you. I accept you. Because without you... I would not be who I am."

She stopped attacking. She simply defended herself, looking the Double straight in the eyes.

The Double lowered her blade.

"Who... who am I?" she whispered.

"You are me," Flora repeated. "And I am you. We are one."

She held out her hand to her Double. The other hesitated, then uncertainly took her hand.

In that instant, the Double dissolved, merging with Flora, becoming a part of her. Flora felt a new strength, a new understanding, fill her. She had become whole.

The force field around the Shield of Truth vanished.

Flora walked to the pedestal and took the Shield in her hands. It was light, almost weightless, yet incredibly strong. Its mirrored surface reflected her face—tired, but calm. And in her eyes, there was no longer that darkness. Only a pure, clear light.

She had found the Shield of Truth. And she had found herself.
