The tension in the air was palpable as Gaku squared off against Jack. The towering member of the Beast Pirates radiated menace, his massive spiked club resting menacingly on his shoulder. Around them, the minks stood ready for battle, but they all knew this was no ordinary fight.
Gaku's red eyes glinted as he cracked his neck, gripping his mace tightly. "Let's see if the Beast Pirates live up to their reputation."
Jack sneered. "You'll regret challenging me, little man."
Jack charged forward with startling speed for his size, swinging his spiked club with a force that could flatten buildings. Gaku sidestepped the blow, but the weapon crashed into the ground, sending up a shockwave that knocked nearby minks off their feet.
Gaku retaliated by lunging forward, swinging his mace in a calculated arc. The weapon collided with Jack's forearm, the impact echoing like a thunderclap. Jack grunted but retaliated with a backhand swipe that sent Gaku skidding backward.
Lili hissed from the sidelines. "Careful, Gaku! That guy's no joke!"
"I noticed," Gaku muttered, spinning his mace and charging again.
This time, he aimed for Jack's legs, hoping to unbalance the towering pirate. His mace struck true, hitting Jack's knee with enough force to crack stone. Jack stumbled slightly, but he quickly recovered, slamming his club down toward Gaku.
Gaku raised his metal arm to block, the spiked club colliding with his reinforced limb in a shower of sparks. Gaku gritted his teeth as the force drove him to one knee.
"Is that all you've got?" Jack taunted, raising his club for another strike.
Gaku smirked despite the pressure. "Not even close."
With a burst of speed, Gaku rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding another devastating blow. He pressed a button on his left metal arm, deploying a sharp blade from his forearm. Using the blade, he slashed at Jack's side, drawing blood.
Jack roared in anger and swung his club in a wide arc. Gaku ducked, his metal arms shifting into twin shields to block the debris that flew from the impact.
"Clever toys," Jack growled, his eyes narrowing. "But they won't save you."
Gaku didn't respond. He switched his mace to his right hand and fired a small harpoon from his left arm, aiming for Jack's shoulder. The harpoon struck its mark, causing Jack to stagger.
The minks cheered from the sidelines.
"He's doing it!" one exclaimed.
"Don't get too excited," Lili muttered, her tail flicking nervously. "This isn't over."
Realizing Gaku was more skilled than he anticipated, Jack stepped back and snarled. "You've earned this."
The air grew heavy as Jack's body began to transform. His muscles bulged, his skin thickened, and his face elongated into a trunk. Massive tusks sprouted from his jaw, and within moments, he towered over the battlefield as a colossal mammoth.
The minks gasped in unison, some stepping back in fear.
"He's in his Zoan form!" Inuarashi barked.
Gaku frowned, gripping his mace tighter. "Great. He just got bigger."
Jack wasted no time, charging at Gaku with earth-shaking force. Gaku leapt to the side, but Jack's tusks clipped him, sending him tumbling. Before Gaku could recover, Jack's trunk swung around like a battering ram, slamming him into a tree.
Lili winced. "Gaku! Get up!"
For the next few minutes, the fight was grueling. Jack's immense strength and size allowed him to dominate, forcing Gaku to stay on the defensive. Every swing of Jack's trunk and stomp of his massive feet created craters in the ground, leaving Gaku scrambling to avoid being crushed.
"Is that all you've got?" Jack roared, his voice echoing across the battlefield.
Gaku coughed, wiping blood from his lip. "Not even close."
With a press of another button on his arm, Gaku activated a grappling hook, shooting it at a tree and using the momentum to swing onto Jack's back. He began striking Jack's spine with his mace, each blow aiming for a weak point.
Jack roared in frustration, bucking wildly to throw Gaku off. Finally, he succeeded, sending Gaku flying into the dirt.
The minks shouted in alarm, but Gaku slowly rose to his feet, his body battered but his determination unwavering.
"You're tougher than I thought," Gaku admitted, panting. "But I'm not done yet."
Gaku's crimson aura flared to life, the oppressive energy causing even the minks to step back in awe. His metal arms hummed with energy, transforming into larger, more dangerous weapons.
Jack hesitated for the first time, sensing the shift in power.
With newfound speed, Gaku charged at Jack, dodging his trunk and tusks with ease. He landed a devastating blow to Jack's leg, causing the massive beast to stumble. Gaku didn't let up, using his enhanced weapons to deliver precise strikes to Jack's joints and vital points.
Jack managed to land a glancing blow with his trunk, sending Gaku skidding, but Gaku recovered instantly. With a roar, he leapt onto Jack's head and delivered a crushing strike to his skull.
The mammoth roared in pain, reverting to his human form as he collapsed to the ground.
Gaku stood over Jack, his aura fading as he leaned on his mace for support. The minks erupted into cheers, rushing to his side.
"You did it!" Lili exclaimed, his eyes wide with amazement.
"Barely," Gaku muttered, coughing.
Nekomamushi approached, clapping Gaku on the shoulder. "You've earned the respect of Zou, my friend. This victory will be remembered."
Gaku waved him off, a faint smirk on his face. "Let's just hope I don't have to fight any more mammoths anytime soon."
As the minks secured Jack, Gaku sat down beside Lili, his expression contemplative.
"What's on your mind?" Lili asked, tilting his head.
Gaku sighed, leaning back against a rock. "Just wondering what kind of mess I'll walk into next."
(Three days after Jack's defeat)
The air on the island was charged with tension following Jack's retreat. The minks were still recovering from the battle, their village showing signs of the destruction left behind by the Beasts Pirates. Despite their gratitude toward Gaku for his aid, whispers of unease spread among them. Kaido's wrath was a storm no one wanted to face, and with Gaku's bounty rising to 1 billion berries, it was clear he'd drawn the attention of the world's most dangerous forces.
Gaku, however, seemed unbothered.
"A billion berries, huh?" he said with a faint smirk, examining the wanted poster in his hands. "About time they recognized my talents."
Lili, perched nearby on a stack of crates, frowned deeply. "This isn't funny, Gaku. Do you know what this means? They'll come for youâKaido, the Marines, bounty hunters... You've just painted a giant target on your back!"
Gaku glanced at him, his red eyes gleaming with amusement. "They've been after me for years. This changes nothing."
"It changes everything!" Lili snapped, his tail flicking anxiously. "You need to take this seriously."
But Gaku, ever nonchalant, only chuckled. "Relax, Lili. We've handled worse."

The day was unusually serene on the island, the salty breeze carrying the scents of the surrounding forest. The minks, still recovering from the skirmish with Jack, had returned to their daily routines. Gaku and Lili sat with Nekomamushi and Inuarashi under the shade of a towering tree. The chiefs of the minks had invited Gaku for a quiet meeting to thank him again for his assistance, but it wasn't long before the conversation turned to something deeperâsomething that intrigued Gaku far more than praise ever could.
"Gaku," Nekomamushi began, his voice as warm as it was gruff, "I sense that you're a man who appreciates a good story. Well, let me tell you one that few outside this island know."
Inuarashi nodded, his regal demeanor tempered with a quiet reverence. "The story of the minks and the Kozuki Clan is not just a taleâit's a legacy of loyalty and purpose. Sit back, friend, and listen closely."
Inuarashi began the tale, his voice steady yet filled with emotion. "Many centuries ago, the minks of Zou forged an unbreakable bond with the Kozuki Clan of Wano. This bond wasn't born from treaties or politics, but from shared ideals and a mutual goal: to protect the secrets of the world."
"The Kozuki Clan," Nekomamushi interjected, "were the ones who carved the poneglyphsâthe ancient stones that hold the truth of the Void Century. They entrusted us, the minks, to guard one of these stones here on Zou. It is our sacred duty, one we've upheld for generations."
Lili, perched on a nearby branch, listened intently, his tail flicking with curiosity. "So you're saying the minks are directly tied to the history of the world? That's... incredible."
"It's more than that," Inuarashi replied, his golden eyes reflecting the light of the setting sun. "Our ancestors swore an oath to the Kozuki Clan: that we would protect them and their mission with our lives. That's why, when Oden Kozuki set out to uncover the world's secrets, we supported him. And that's why, even now, we stand ready to aid his heirs."
Gaku leaned forward, his red eyes gleaming with intrigue. "And the poneglyph? It's still here?"
Nekomamushi chuckled, a deep rumble in his chest. "Aye, it's still here, tucked away in the heart of the Whale Forest. It's one of the Road Poneglyphsâthe stones that mark the way to Laugh Tale, the final island of the Grand Line."
The revelation hung heavy in the air. Gaku, though often aloof, felt the weight of what he was hearing. The poneglyphs were more than just ancient artifacts; they were keys to uncovering the mysteries of the world.
"So you're saying," Gaku began, his voice uncharacteristically serious, "that this island holds one of the four keys to reaching the end of the Grand Line? And you've kept it hidden all this time?"
Inuarashi nodded solemnly. "That's correct. And we will continue to protect it, no matter the cost."
Nekomamushi's tone grew somber. "Jack's attack wasn't random. He came here searching for Raizo, a ninja loyal to the Kozuki Clan. But make no mistakeâKaido knows about the Road Poneglyph. He'll stop at nothing to claim it."
Lili's ears flattened against his head. "So that's why he's so interested in this place... It's not just about Raizo."
Gaku stood, his hands resting on his hips as he gazed out over the forest. "You minks have been carrying a heavy burden. Protecting this stone, honoring your ancestors' oathâit's no small thing. But what's your plan if Kaido comes back? You can't keep this secret forever."
Nekomamushi grinned, his sharp teeth glinting. "That's where faith comes in, Gaku. Faith in the Kozuki bloodline. Faith that one day, the right people will come to continue what Oden started."
"And if they don't?" Gaku asked, his tone skeptical.
Inuarashi met his gaze, unwavering. "Then we will fight until our last breath. That is the mink way."
As the conversation drew to a close, the chiefs led Gaku and Lili to the edge of the Whale Forest, where the ancient Road Poneglyph was kept. The massive stone, etched with intricate carvings, stood as a testament to the enduring bond between the minks and the Kozuki Clan.
Gaku ran his hand over the cool surface of the stone, his mind racing with questions. The mysteries of the Void Century, the secrets of Laugh Tale, the meaning of the D. in some of the greatest pirate's namesâall of it felt just out of reach.
"You're a curious one, Gaku," Nekomamushi said, watching him closely. "And I think you'll play a bigger role in this story than you realize."
Gaku chuckled, his usual smirk returning. "I'm not much for destiny. But I'll admit, this whole thing's got my attention."
Lili, standing beside him, nudged his arm. "It's more than attention, Gaku. You're part of this now, whether you like it or not."
And as the sun set over the island, painting the sky in shades of gold and crimson, Gaku couldn't shake the feeling that his journey had just taken a turn he hadn't anticipated.
The sun dipped low over the horizon, painting the sky in hues of amber and violet. The village had begun to wind down, the minks gathering around small fires to share food and laughter. Gaku and Lili sat on the outskirts of the settlement, away from the bustling activity.
"It's been quiet," Lili said, breaking the silence.
"Too quiet," Gaku replied, his tone unreadable. His senses were on high alert, a subtle tension coursing through him that he couldn't quite place.
The two sat in comfortable silence, listening to the crackle of the fire and the distant chatter of the minks. Then, without warning, a laugh rang out from the forest behind themâa deep, booming laugh that sent chills down their spines.
"Zehahahaha!"
Gaku's eyes narrowed as he recognized the voice. Slowly, he turned toward the woods, his gaze locking onto the hulking figure emerging from the shadows.
It was Marshall D. Teach, the infamous Blackbeard.
He was flanked by Van Augur, his sniper, who stood silently with a calm yet unnerving demeanor.
"Well, well, Gaku," Blackbeard said, spreading his arms wide in a mockingly warm gesture. "Fancy meeting you here!"
The minks froze, their laughter and chatter dying instantly as they recognized the newcomer. Blackbeard was a name that even the bravest feared.
"Teach," Gaku said flatly, rising to his feet. His tone was calm, but his body was tense, ready for anything. "What are you doing here?"
"Zehahaha! Straight to the point, I like that!" Blackbeard grinned, his teeth glinting in the firelight. "I came here for you, of course."
"For me?" Gaku's eyes narrowed further. "What do you want?"
Blackbeard's grin widened. "A deal. You see, Gaku, I've been watching you. Strong, independent, a man with no ties... I could use someone like you in my crew."
The words hung heavy in the air, shocking everyone present. Even Lili, who rarely let fear show, looked visibly shaken.
"And if I refuse?" Gaku asked carefully.
Blackbeard's expression darkened, though his grin remained. "Then I'll take this island for myself. You've made it a fine little home, haven't you? Shame if something happened to it."
Lili stepped forward, his voice trembling but resolute. "Gaku, we've faced worse! We can beat him, just like Jack! Remember of what we went through at Marineford!"
Gaku looked at Lili, his usual smirk absent. Instead, there was a rare seriousness in his eyes. He reached out and patted Lili's head gently. "You're right, Lili. We've been through hell and back. But this... this is different."
Lili stared up at him, his eyes wide with confusion and fear. "What are you saying?"
"I'm saying I'm making the best choice here. For once." Gaku turned to Blackbeard, his voice steady and unyielding.
"I'll join your crew."
The minks erupted into protest, their voices a cacophony of outrage and disbelief. Lili grabbed Gaku's arm, desperation in his eyes. "You can't! You don't have to do this!"
But Gaku gently pried Lili's hand away. "It's the only way to keep this place safe."
Blackbeard laughed, clapping his hands together. "Zehahaha! Smart man. You won't regret this, Gaku. You're now one of the proud commanders of my crew, me and you can achieve great things, believe me!"
Van Augur stepped forward, handing Gaku a den den mushi. "For communication," he said simply.
Blackbeard turned to leave, his massive frame casting a shadow over the village. "We'll be in touch, Gaku. Don't keep me waiting."
As the Blackbeard Pirates disappeared into the night, the minks and Lili stared after them in stunned silence. Gaku remained still, his expression unreadable.
"Why, Gaku?" Lili finally whispered.
Gaku didn't answer immediately. Instead, he turned to face his companion, his red eyes burning with determination. "Because sometimes, Lili... you have to play the long game. And as much I hate to admit it, we don't stand a chance against him"
And with that, he walked away, leaving the minks and his friend to grapple with the weight of his decision.
