New weapons

Comfort (Male reader X One piece)3,522 words~18 min read

Gaku sat on the edge of the stolen ship's bow, his red eyes fixed on the horizon. Lili rested lazily on his shoulder, occasionally batting at loose ropes swaying with the ocean breeze. The map they found in Enel's stash was spread out beside them, held down by bits of broken wood to keep it from flying away.

"This Irontide Island better be real," Lili muttered, licking a paw. "I don't want to end up in some Sea King nest again."

"It's real," Gaku replied, his voice steady. "If Enel was hoarding this map, it must lead to something worth taking. Seastone, Adam Wood...maybe even Sky Ore. Materials that could put me ahead of anyone else."

"You mean ahead of Kizaru," Lili teased, earning a silent glare from Gaku.

Suddenly, the weather began to shift. The clear skies darkened as storm clouds rolled in, and the sea beneath them started to churn violently. The ship creaked and groaned as waves sur  against its sides.

"Looks like Irontide doesn't want visitors," Gaku muttered, gripping the helm with his one hand as Lili scrambled for cover.

Before they could make significant progress, another ship appeared on the horizon. It was massive, with an iron-plated hull and sails adorned with the emblem of a roaring beast. The Iron Mast Pirates had arrived, their ship cutting through the waves like a blade.

"They're locking onto us!" Lili hissed, his fur bristling.

Cannons roared, and iron balls rained down. Gaku moved quickly, steering the ship away from direct hits, but the smaller vessel wasn't built for prolonged combat. As the Iron Mast ship drew closer, a voice boomed over the chaos.

"Who dares approach Irontide Island without paying tribute to Captain Korran?"

The man himself stood at the bow of his ship, a towering figure with bulging muscles and an iron club resting casually on his shoulder. His grin widened when he saw Gaku.

"A one-armed man and his cat? This'll be easier than I thought."

Gaku said nothing. He leapt onto the deck of the Iron Mast ship as it collided with his own, his agility catching the pirates off guard. The first wave of attackers rushed him, but Gaku's Observation Haki kicked in. He moved with precision, dodging bullets and blades, his strikes lethal and efficient.

Lili darted into action, clawing at faces and slashing throats with his sharp claws. "Who's the cat now, huh?" he snarled, dodging a clumsy swing of an axe.

Korran finally stepped in, swinging his iron club with enough force to crack the deck beneath them. Gaku barely avoided the blow, the shockwave sending him skidding backward.

"You've got some moves," Korran admitted, flexing his Armament Haki and coating his body in a metallic sheen. "But you're no match for Iron Hide!"

The duel was fierce, with Korran's raw strength and defense pitted against Gaku's speed and precision. Gaku's strikes were deflected by Korran's hardened skin, and he was forced to retreat, his one arm making it difficult to maintain the upper hand.

But Gaku's mind was as sharp as his blade. He baited Korran into overextending, feigning exhaustion before launching a surprise counterattack. Using a discarded cannonball as a distraction, Gaku delivered a devastating kick to Korran's exposed neck. The captain staggered, and with one final thrust of his blade, Gaku pierced his heart.

The Iron Mast Pirates' ship sank into the sea, their screams fading into silence. Gaku stood on the deck of his own damaged ship, bloodied but victorious.

The ship limped into the shores of Irontide Island, its hull barely holding together. Gaku and Lili disembarked, their senses immediately assaulted by the heavy metallic smell of the island. The ground glittered with veins of Seastone, and massive metallic trees stretched into the sky.

"This place is a goldmine," Gaku said, his red eyes scanning the terrain.

"And a death trap," Lili added, his ears twitching at distant roars.

As they ventured deeper, they encountered the island's hostile wildlife. Metalback Gorillas, towering beasts with shimmering fur as hard as steel, charged at them. Gaku's blade bounced off their hide during the first encounter, forcing him to rely on his agility and precision strikes.

"Go for the eyes, Gaku!" Lili shouted, darting between the gorillas and clawing at their faces.

Using Observation Haki to predict their movements, Gaku found weak points in their joints and brought them down one by one. The battles were grueling, leaving him covered in cuts and bruises, but he pressed on.

The deeper they went, the more dangerous the island became. Seastone Serpents, massive snakes whose scales nullified Devil Fruit powers, slithered through the forests. Their venom was lethal, forcing Gaku to tread carefully.

After days of battling the island's wildlife, Gaku and Lili stumbled upon a hidden cavern marked with ancient symbols. Inside, they discovered massive deposits of Seastone, glimmering veins of Sky Ore embedded in the walls, and towering trees of Adam Wood.

"This is it," Gaku said, awe in his voice.

But their moment of triumph was short-lived. As they began collecting resources, they were ambushed by bounty hunters who had been stalking them.

"You're not the only one who knows about this place," the leader sneered, aiming a rifle at Gaku.

The ensuing fight was brutal. The bounty hunters were skilled, armed with Seastone weapons that made direct confrontation risky. Gaku used the terrain to his advantage, setting traps and ambushing them with lightning-fast strikes.

Lili played his part as well, using his small size and agility to disarm enemies and deliver killing blows. "No one messes with us!" he growled, leaping onto the leader's face and clawing his eyes.

When the dust settled, the bounty hunters lay defeated. Gaku and Lili stood victorious, their bodies battered but unbroken.

Before leaving the treacherous shores of Irontide Island, Gaku stood amidst the cavern's shimmering treasures, his red eyes fixed on the veins of Sky Ore embedded in the walls. The glimmering material was said to rival Seastone in toughness, yet was malleable enough when worked with precision. A spark of inspiration lit his expression as he ran his hand over the cold surface of the ore.

"I've missed having a proper weapon," Gaku muttered, his gaze intense.

Lili raised an eyebrow from his perch on a pile of Adam Wood. "A weapon? You already have a blade. What else could you possibly want?"

Gaku smirked, ignoring the question. "A blade's fine for precision, but sometimes...you just need brute force. A weapon that speaks with every swing. A weapon that breaks things."

Lili tilted his head. "You mean like that ridiculous mace you used to carry?"

"Exactly," Gaku said, his voice low but resolute. "It's time I forged something worthy of that legacy."

For the next month, Gaku dedicated himself entirely to creating a new weapon. Using Adam Wood for the handle and Sky Ore for the mace head, he worked tirelessly to shape, mold, and temper the materials into something that suited his vision.

The process wasn't easy. Sky Ore required intense heat to become malleable, forcing Gaku to construct a makeshift forge from volcanic rocks found on the island. He scavenged for tools among the wreckage of his enemies' ships and repurposed their weapons as hammers, tongs, and files.

Each day began with hunting for fuel to stoke the forge, battling the island's dangerous wildlife, and testing the strength of the materials. The nights were spent refining the design, hammering the ore into shape, and tempering it in pools of cooled volcanic water.

Lili watched with a mix of curiosity and exasperation. "You're obsessed. It's just a weapon."

"A true weapon isn't just about function," Gaku replied, beads of sweat dripping from his brow as he hammered the ore. "It's an extension of the one who wields it. If it doesn't have weight, it's not worth carrying."

After a month of grueling labor, Gaku finally stood before his completed creation. The mace was massive, its head forged from gleaming Sky Ore with jagged edges designed to shatter armor and bone alike. The handle, crafted from dense Adam Wood, was wrapped in a grip of hardened leather for better control.

The weapon exuded raw power, its weight immense, even for Gaku. He hoisted it onto his shoulder with a satisfied grin, the effort making his muscles strain against the weapon's mass.

"It's perfect," Gaku said, his red eyes gleaming with pride. "Heavy, unrelenting...a true weapon."

Lili hopped onto Gaku's shoulder, inspecting the mace with a critical eye. "It's...big. You're going to lug that thing everywhere?"

"It's worth it," Gaku replied, testing the weapon by swinging it with one hand. The air rippled with the sheer force of the swing, and the impact left a deep crater in the ground where it landed.

"Okay," Lili said, whiskers twitching. "That's definitely intimidating."

As Gaku hoisted his newly forged mace onto the ship, its sheer weight causing the deck to creak slightly, he glanced toward a pile of weapons neatly stacked near the mast. Among them were his blade, a few throwing knives, and even an old chain weapon he'd picked up during his travels. His one remaining arm worked deftly to organize the arsenal, a satisfied smile spreading across his face.

"I'll still carry the others," Gaku said, almost to himself, as he strapped the knives to his belt and sheathed the blade at his side.

Lili, lounging atop a barrel, raised an eyebrow. "You're carrying all of that and that monstrosity?" He gestured to the massive mace leaning against the mast.

"Of course," Gaku replied, rolling his shoulder to adjust the strap that held his throwing knives. "Every weapon has a purpose. The mace is for overwhelming power. The blade's for precision. The knives? Perfect for quick work. A true fighter never limits himself."

Lili tilted his head, his tail flicking lazily. "And what happens when you're in a fight and need both hands for something? Oh wait, you only have one now."

Gaku paused, giving the black cat a flat look. "I manage just fine."

"You're practically a walking armory at this point," Lili teased, hopping down from the barrel and circling Gaku. "What's next? Are you going to strap a cannon to your back? Maybe carry a ballista for good measure?"

Gaku chuckled, shaking his head. "If it means winning, maybe I will."

Lili groaned, leaping onto Gaku's shoulder. "You're impossible. At this rate, I'm going to end up carrying you when you collapse under all that weight."

"Good thing you're loyal," Gaku quipped, tapping Lili on the nose. "You'll be carrying more than just me if we hit the jackpot again."

The black cat huffed, clearly unimpressed. "Just remember who saved your hide back on Irontide. If you end up buried under all this junk, don't expect me to dig you out."

With a grin, Gaku gave the mace one last satisfying swing before strapping it to his back. "Noted. Let's just see if anyone out there can stop me now."

Lili muttered something under his breath, but deep down, he knew Gaku's determination—and his ever-growing arsenal—were part of what made him unstoppable. With their weapons in tow and the sea stretching endlessly before them, they were ready for whatever the world had in store.

The Ironflame Outpost stood tall in the middle of a remote island, its imposing stone walls reinforced with steel plating, a testament to the Marines' ever-growing ambition to crush piracy. Gaku approached the base under the cover of night, his silhouette blending seamlessly into the dark landscape. Lili perched silently on his shoulder, tail flicking in anticipation.

"Think you can take them all out without making a fuss?" Lili whispered, his tone light but laced with genuine curiosity.

Gaku smirked, his crimson eyes glowing faintly in the moonlight. "Let's find out."

He tightened his grip on his new mace, its weight a comforting presence. With a nod to Lili, he scaled the outer wall, using his immense physical strength and agility to avoid detection by the watchtowers. He reached the top, peering over to see rows of barracks, armories, and patrolling soldiers.

The first guard didn't even have time to scream. Gaku dropped down silently, crushing the man's skull with the pommel of his blade. Lili darted ahead, providing reconnaissance while Gaku moved like a shadow, his one arm wielding his weapons with ruthless efficiency.

One by one, Marines fell. A quick slash to the throat here, a brutal strike with the mace there. In the armory, he rigged an explosion with stored gunpowder, setting off a chain reaction that drew the attention of the soldiers stationed inside. As they scrambled to investigate, Gaku took advantage of the chaos, picking them off like prey.

Blood painted the walls as the once-orderly base descended into panic.

After hours of methodical slaughter, the base was eerily silent. Gaku made his way to the command center, where the highest-ranking officers would typically operate. Kicking the door open, he found the room empty—save for a desk piled high with papers, blueprints, and strange devices.

"What's this?" Gaku muttered, stepping inside and examining the documents. Lili hopped onto the desk, his sharp eyes scanning the materials.

As Gaku sifted through the documents, he quickly realized the significance of what he had stumbled upon. Stamped with the emblem of the World Government and Vegapunk's insignia, the papers detailed abandoned projects, experimental weapons, and advanced machinery.

"What do you make of this, Lili?" Gaku asked, holding up a schematic.

The cat sniffed the paper disdainfully. "A lot of this looks like gibberish to me. But that,"—his paw batted at a detailed drawing—"looks like it might be useful to you."

Gaku's red eyes fixated on the design. It was a concept for a cybernetic arm, labeled "Project Vanguard: Adaptive Combat Prosthesis." The blueprint outlined a versatile mechanical limb capable of interfacing with various weapons and tools, a piece of technology Vegapunk had deemed too dangerous to mass-produce.

His gaze flickered over another drawing—a heavy, mace-like weapon designed to integrate with the prosthesis. The diagram highlighted materials far stronger than steel, suggesting the weapon would be nearly indestructible.

"This..." Gaku muttered, his voice laced with excitement. "This could be exactly what I need."

Lili tilted his head. "Are you thinking of turning yourself into one of these... things?"

Gaku shook his head, his silver hair falling into his face. "Not entirely. But I can't ignore the potential here. If I can modify these designs to suit my needs..." He trailed off, already envisioning how the prosthetic could restore the strength he'd lost with his missing arm.

After weeks of working in the abandoned Marine base, Gaku sat in the lab, staring at the incomplete blueprint of the prosthetic arm. The idea of integrating machinery into his body was something he had resisted initially. However, as he studied the advanced mechanisms left behind by Vegapunk and remembered Franky's strength and resilience, he began to reconsider.

His gaze shifted to the skeletal frame of the cyborg prototype he had salvaged earlier. Its design was intricate but unfinished, and with his knowledge of mechanics—combined with modifications inspired by Franky—he could finally create something that not only restored his missing arm but elevated him further.

"I can't keep fighting like this," Gaku muttered, clenching his remaining fist. "If I want to win, to dominate, I need more."

Lili perched on the workbench, his sharp green eyes watching Gaku closely. "You sure about this? Once you start tinkering with your body, there's no going back."

Gaku smirked, his red eyes gleaming with determination. "I've already lost part of myself. This is just taking control of what I've lost—and improving it."

Lili huffed. "As long as you don't turn into a full tin man, I'll stick around. But don't blame me if you start squeaking when you move."

The process wasn't easy. Using the resources from Vegapunk's lab, Gaku spent the next several weeks modifying the prototype arm. He infused it with durability and flexibility while ensuring it could mimic the functionality of his lost limb. He added concealed compartments for weapons and tools, drawing inspiration from Franky's creativity in combining practicality with destructive power.

However, creating the arm was only half the battle. To integrate it into his body, Gaku had to undergo significant modifications to his torso and nervous system. This required both physical endurance and mental resolve.

Using schematics left behind in the base, Gaku built a crude surgical machine to perform the integration. With Lili standing by anxiously, Gaku strapped himself to the machine and activated it.

The procedure was excruciating. Wires and mechanical implants were fused into his body, connecting his nerves to the cybernetic arm. His muscles screamed in protest, and his heartbeat thundered in his ears. Lili winced at the sound of machinery grinding into flesh.

"Are you still alive in there?" the cat asked nervously.

Gaku gritted his teeth, his voice hoarse but defiant. "I've endured worse... This is nothing."

Hours later, the machine powered down. Gaku slumped in the chair, drenched in sweat and trembling from the pain. But when he opened his eyes and flexed his new arm, a crooked grin spread across his face.

The arm was sleek and powerful, with a matte black finish and crimson accents. It resembled a natural arm in shape, but its metallic surface and visible mechanical joints gave it a menacing appearance.

The next day, Gaku stood outside the base, testing his new limb on the surrounding environment. With a single punch, he shattered a boulder, the force reverberating through the ground. He clenched his fist, feeling the strength coursing through the mechanical arm.

"This... is better than I imagined," Gaku muttered, a wicked grin spreading across his face.

He activated one of the arm's hidden mechanisms, a retractable blade extending from the wrist. With fluid motions, he swung the blade, slicing through a tree trunk effortlessly.

Lili watched from a safe distance. "You're enjoying this too much."

Gaku chuckled, retracting the blade. "It's not about enjoyment. It's about potential. This arm isn't just a replacement—it's an advantage."

Gaku returned to the lab one last time, collecting the remaining documents and materials. As he prepared to leave, his gaze fell on the reflective surface of a broken monitor. For a moment, he studied his reflection—the silver-haired, red-eyed man who now bore the mark of his transformation.

"This is who I am now," he said quietly.

Despite his satisfaction with the functionality of his new arm, Gaku couldn't stand the sight of it. Its cold, mechanical appearance was a constant reminder of what he had lost—a piece of himself that could never be fully reclaimed.

After some thought, he decided to cover it in a synthetic human-like skin, a technique he found in one of Vegapunk's more experimental notes. Using the resources in the lab, he painstakingly applied the synthetic covering to the metallic arm, ensuring it matched the tone and texture of his remaining natural limb.

When the process was complete, Gaku flexed his fingers, studying the result. The arm looked disturbingly real, indistinguishable from flesh at a glance. But to him, it was still an illusion.

"This... feels right," Gaku muttered, his voice low.

Lili perched on a nearby workbench, tail swishing. "Right, huh? Hiding what you are now? Sounds like someone's a little vain."

Gaku shot the cat a sharp look, but his smirk betrayed his amusement. "It's not hiding—it's... aesthetics. Besides, it's none of your business."

The next morning, as Gaku prepared to leave the Marine base for good, he found himself staring at his reflection again. Even with the synthetic skin, something still felt off. He thought back to his battles, to his style and how he carried himself before losing his arm.

An idea struck him.

Gaku reached for a roll of bandages he found in the infirmary. He wrapped both arms tightly, covering them in layers of white cloth. As he tied the final knot, he stepped back to inspect his work.

Lili, observing from the corner, tilted his head. "What's with the mummy look? Thought you just wanted the arm to look normal."

Gaku grinned and flexed his bandaged arms. "It's not about looking normal. It's about looking better. A little style never hurt anyone."

Lili rolled his eyes. "You're ridiculous. But I guess if it keeps you from sulking, go ahead and play dress-up."

As Gaku and Lili boarded their stolen ship, the former Marine base now a smoldering ruin behind them, Gaku adjusted the bandages on his arms, making sure they were secure.

"This feels more like me," he said confidently, rolling his shoulders.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night," Lili muttered, hopping onto Gaku's shoulder.

Gaku looked out at the horizon, his smirk returning. "We've got work to do, Lili. Let's find our next challenge—and remind the world who they're dealing with."

The synthetic skin and bandages didn't just mask the arm—they symbolized Gaku's refusal to be defined by his losses. For him, it wasn't about forgetting what had happened but embracing his evolution on his own terms.
