A New Era Begins

On June 2,2023, Colgate University announced the hiring of the program's all-time leading scorer, Mike Harder to be the 15th head coach in program history. "From the time I arrived at Colgate, Hamilton felt like home, the warm people, supportive community, and ties between the town and university make it an unparalleled place to thrive. I'm excited to get started." Coach Harder said. Mike Harder, if you didn't already know, was the man who led the teams featured in the Raider Road series and now he's the head coach of the Colgate Raiders for real this time!

Personally, I love the hire by Colgate to bring in an alumnus instead of relying on other schools for a new coach. Mike Harder led Colgate to greatness as a player and I excitedly await Colgate hockey for years to come under new leadership! Colgate made an amazing decision on the Donald F. Vaughan men's hockey coaching position and I'm sure Don Vaughan would be proud.

Coach Harder, as I mentioned earlier, was the man that leads Colgate to three national championships in the Raider Road series and I'm excited to see what he can actually do. Mike Harder is the best man for this job because he has passion for the game and he loves Colgate. I think this is a great hire and I can't wait to see what Coach Harder can do as a head coach! Go 'gate!!
