50; Final Goodbye

LILLY

"Well don't just stand there. I invited you to come and say goodbye, not to stand there staring at her" I broke the silence making the Scooby gang look at me.

Stefan was the first one to walk over to her. "In 1864, you moved into my family home, compelled me to love you, you seduced my brother, fed the three of us your blood, then started a war with the town, getting the three of us killed... But centuries before that, you were just an innocent girl that was shunned by her family. So for five hundred years, you lied and manipulated and did whatever you had to do, to survive. And you did. You survived for five hundred years. You should be proud of yourself Katherine" Stefan whispered.

He went to walk away but Katherine stopped him, weakly grabbing his hand. "I always wondered what it would be like, to be loved by you. You've gotta admit, for that one fleeting moment... your feelings we're real... It truly has been the role of a lifetime. Stefan, I love you. And I've always loved you" She rasped out.

Stefan didn't say anything he just walked over to the others, who was staring at Katherine.

Damon was next, glaring down at her. "Every awful thing I've ever done is because of you. You taught me how to kill. I don't enjoy it. You ruined me and I can't take any of that back. Goodbye Katherine"

"Damon" Katherine rasped out looking at him. "I'm sorry. You blame me for who you are. And I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I turned you. I'm sorry that you didn't get to die as a forgotten nobody on a bloody battlefield, and your father didn't get to live another day to be disgraced by you. Damon, I'm sorry that I gave your life purpose. Passion, drive, desire. I'm sorry that you are who you are, because I'm the one that taught you how to love" She rasped out smirking at him.

I rolled my eyes. That was a bit pathetic.

Katherine looked over to Phoebe. "I'm sorry I turned you, Phoebe. I'm sorry you get to see what a monster she really is" She smirked before looking at me. Oh, I guess she has a couple of goodbyes herself.

"Lilly Marie. I'm sorry I fed you my blood. I'm sorry for letting you live a brilliant life, away from your abusive father, who thought of you as a disgrace. I'm sorry you're such a disappointment" She chuckled weakly.

I knew she wanted me to lash out, but instead I smiled at her. "Thank you" I spoke, make her along with the Scooby gang stare at me in shock. "Thank you for feeding me your blood. Thank you for turning me into the person I am today" I explained to her before my smile grew. "And thank you for turning my daughter. Unlike you, I can make up for lost time"

Instead of saying anything back, she just glared at me before turning to look at who was down in the basement watching her slowly die.

"I have to say, I never expected this many people wanting to come and say goodbye before I die" She spoke weakly.

I walked over to her and pulled out the drip Kol connected up to her. She was weak enough, she just needed to die already.

"We didn't come to say goodbye Katherine. We came to watch you die" Jeremy gritted out glaring at her. "Jeremy" Elena warned.

"You know Elena. It was fun, pretending to be you. Watching the Salvatore's fight over you. It's been fun" Katherine laughed.

"You impersonated me repeatedly. You made my Aunt Jenna stab herself, and chopped my Uncle's fingers off. Klaus came to town because of you, leaving us with no Aunt Jenna" Elena snapped.

"Well, actually love. I would have come to town anyway, since I knew Lilly was here" Nik spoke up smirking over at the doppelgänger.

"You're not that special doppelgänger" Kol chuckled, wanting to get his two-cents in.

I flicked my eyes over to Katherine, and noticed she was nearly at the end. I poured myself, Nik, Phoebe, Bekah and Kol a shot, just as Katherine took her last breath.

I picked my glass up holding it in the air. "To the death of Katerina Petrova" I toasted, holding my glass up for them to clink theirs against.

"How can you sit there drinking when someone's just died in your basement" Caroline asked disgusted.

"You might be pretty Caroline, but watch your tongue" Kol snapped, making me and Nik chuckle. Will he ever change?

I looked over to the Scooby gang. "Well, she's dead. You've said goodbye. Now why don't you all leave?" I asked looking at them.

"Not until we've talked" Damon spoke looking at me, giving me a look telling me not to argue.

"You know what Damon. I have nothing to say to you. I just want to spend time with my daughter and my family. Now leave" I snapped.

"Lilly. Just listen to them. They're your brothers, and you're choosing Klaus and his family over them" Elena snapped.

I flicked my eyes over to her. "Nobody asked you to get involved Elena. So shut your trap before I rip that tongue out of your mouth" I snapped. "Hey! Don't talk to her like that" Stefan snapped glaring at me.

I rolled my eyes, looking over at Elena. "You seem to forget, Elena but they gave up on me way before I gave up on them" I reminded her.

"Get over it already Lilly! So what? We didn't stick up for you? You've spent all your life getting revenge on us. Don't you think enough is enough?" Damon snapped.

I shook my head. "Just leave Damon" I mumbled, not even bothering to look at him. I couldn't be bothered with his tantrums right now.

I just want to spend some time with my daughter, get freshened up and go to sleep for a bit. Not listen to why I should forgive my brothers.

"You know Phoebe, I'd run as far away as I could if I was you. She'd do nothing but bring you down" Damon told her before looking back at me. "Mother, and father was right. You're nothing but a disgrace"

As soon as the words left his mouth, Nik slammed him against the wall, with his hand wrapped around Damon's throat. "Don't ever talk to her like that again mate, or I will kill you" Nik gritted out, glaring.

"Lilly. Please. Stop him" Elena begged looking at me. "What do I look like? I'm not my brothers who do everything you ask" I shook my head at the stupid doppelgänger.

"Go on do it! I'm sure Lilly will be pretty pissed off if you do" Damon laughed, looking at Nik. I snorted. "Don't count on that Damon" I chuckled just as Elijah joined us.

"Enough! Niklaus, let Damon go" He ordered, before looking at the Scooby gang. "Leave" He ordered, and thankfully they listened.

Once they were gone, Elijah turned around to look at us. "I'm sure you've all enjoyed yourself as you watch Katerina die, but you seem to forget that her dead body is starting to rot away down here" He told us, not even looking at Katherine.

"I enjoyed myself very much. Thank you" Nik smirked at his brother. "Well I guess I'll be left with burying her body" Elijah sighed before walking over to her.

"Well I thought you might want to say a goodbye to your lost love, brother" Nik laughed, making me slap his arm. "Nik" I warned. He should be a bit more sympathetic for his brother. He once thought that I was dead.

Granted, Katherine wasn't Elijah's soul mate, but he still loved her.

"I have to admit, I feel a bit sorry for you" Nik carried on, making me sigh. Now was not the time for a family argument.

"You know what Niklaus? I thought that now you had Lilly back you would become the brother you once was, before you lost her. Not the brother you became when you thought she was dead. But you're still the same. When are you gonna change? Are you forever gonna be the man who wants everyone to fear them?" Elijah asked looking over to Nik.

"Hey! He's nothing different to what he used to be Elijah... I know your grieving Katherine, but there's no need to be a dick about it" I snapped.

Elijah didn't answer me, he just untied Katherine's dead body, picking her up and carrying her out of the basement.

"We'll be upstairs" Bekah mumbled, before she left with Kol and Phoebe behind her.

Nik pulled me against his chest. "Am I really a bad person?" I asked, as I rested my forehead against his chest.

"No, love. You're an amazing person... Don't believe a word Katerina said to you love. You're an amazing woman. You'll be an amazing mother to Phoebe. Trust me" Nik whispered, before he pressed his lips against my forehead.

"Is there a spare room for Phoebe to sleep in?" I asked him, earning a snort from him.

"Love, you were down here for a full night and day before I even came down. She has her own room already... I thought you would have known, you know since we were all wearing different clothes" Nik laughed, as I hid my face into his chest.

"I had more things on my mind" I mumbled, making him laugh. "More like you were enjoying yourself a little too much"

"Okay. Your right. I enjoyed myself" I chuckled, looking up at him.

I reached up pressing my lips against his. "I love you" I whispered as I pulled away. "I love you too darling" He smiled down at me.

We both made our way upstairs, where Kol and Bekah was. "Where's Phoebe?" I asked looking around the room.

"She went upstairs. I think she was getting tired" Bekah told me.

I nodded before looking at Nik. "I'm gonna go check on her" I told him before giving him a quick kiss and rushing upstairs to Phoebe's room.
