Jaimie-mae came back from school and immediately her not so good mood was immediately improved because she came home to her mom sitting on the couch; a day early, just like she promised.

She tackled her mom into a hug and her mom cradled her head to her chest telling her how much she had missed her daughter while she was out on her business trip. That night they had sat on the couch and watched old cartoons together with microwaved popcorn and a bag of chocolate Maltesers which they poured into the popcorn after it cooled down.

After their eyes began to get tired of television, they resorted to talking about their week.

"I got a lot of work completed while i was away," Jazmyn said happily to her daughter.

"That's good. Fabian's parents invited me to dinner."

"Really. Well, i would like to meet them before you go for dinner with them."

She was about to protest but she realized it was just her mother looking out for her. "That's fair. But they are a nice family. Fabian has a mom and a... dad and a cute little brother. I think he's about six."

"That's nice. He seems like he has a really nice family. I'm really sorry that your dad isn't around for you."

Jaimie-mae knew her mom felt guilty about that but it didn't really bother her. She was used to it. She had Fabian and his dad to help her with whatever dads did now. They'd help her, she knew it.

"No no. Mom. It's okay. It doesn't bother me, I just want you to be happy. Besides i've got a mom, what more could i possibly need?"

Jazmyn smiled at her daughter and kissed her cheek. "Thank you baby face. You are just too sweet." She stood up from the couch "I'm going to go get a shower. Do you want me to order you some food or something?"

"No thanks."

"Okay." She gave her one last smile than walked out of the living room.

Truthfully, ever since her recent panic attacks she'd been losing her appetite and hadn't really thought much of food. The thought of a full meal made her feel slightly sick to her stomach. She loved to eat but when she wasn't doing the best, her appetite was taken away from her.

Jaimie-mae knew she had to eat something. So she grabbed a few strawberries, washed them off and took them into her room. Afterwards, she did a bit of homework, took a shower then fell into a dreamless sleep.

Jaimie-mae woke up to her first texts from Fabian.

Goodmorning

Sorry. I didn't get to text you the details last night. My brother wanted me to play video games, i really thought he broke something.

Morning. Its cool😊

I kinda don't like texting you

Oh, why's that?

I don't get to hear your pretty voice

...

Are you blushing?

Yeah. Kind of.

Lol. I already knew that. Anyway, dinners at 5 on Sunday. Wear something casual

Ok. Can't wait

Yeah me neither. Your distracting me

How? You're the one that texted me

Yeah, but you're the one that answered back

I'm rolling my eyes right now

Rude. But forreal though. I mean in general, you distract me all the time because i can't stop thinking about you

Oh... well stop it

I don't know how

Lol sad 4 u then

I love how much sympathy you hold for me

I know right. Oh, guess what?

What?

We are literally just like Eric and Ariel from The Little Mermaid. Except i didn't save you from drowning

Oh, you're right. I guess i'm going to have to 'kiss the gal' then inna

...

You're blushing aren't you?

Yes. But you are so blunt

When Jaimie-mae didnt get a reply back after about seven minutes, she pulled herself out of bed and did her daily morning stuff then went off to school.

As soon as she walked through the gates of the school she realized she was getting a few curious looks from students in her class. It wasn't a lot, but it was still one to many. She fidgeted with the keychain that hung from her backpack and avoided eye contact from everyone and everything. Her eyes never stayed in one spot for more than two seconds.

Once Jaimie-mae raised her head, she spotted three people barreling towards her. She braced herself for what she knew was coming. All three of her friends collided into her and trapped her in a quick group hug. They pulled back and Jaimie-mae scanned each of their concerned faces.

Kacey looked the most concerned which was understandable because she was there with Jaimie-mae on wednesday. It was strange to see Kacey looking so... serious. She was usually bubbly and optimistic. Kacey had shoulder-length, chestnut hair and hazel eyes. She was pale and short but really pretty. She was good at cheering Jaimie-mae up on her bad days.

Then there was Arabella Andrews or Bella for short. She was absolutely gorgeous and carried herself with pride. She had brown skin and thick curly hair to compliment it. She also had unique amber eyes that could catch any ones attention. She was talkative and played on the schools volleyball team. She didn't like hanging out with them much because she claimed they were much to gossipy. She did have two or three friends from the team but she preferred Jaimie-mae's friend group because they were 'unique' as she liked to call it.

And last but not least was Kano Hill. He was the only guy that stuck around the group. He was Japanese-American and really handsome. He knew he was good-looking but he wasn't cocky. He had dyed silver-blue highlights in his brown hair. It sounded weird but it fit him well. He was extremely artistic. He had a strong jaw and he was tall and lean. He also had very dark eyes. But all those traits made girls fall head-over-heels for him, literally. One time a girl was staring at him while he was walking and she tripped. He had laughed at her and then afterwards helped her up. He was just so charming and kind.

That was one of the reasons he wasn't pushed away from the group. That and Jamie-mae knew he had a crush on Arabella. That was probably the biggest reason why he stuck around. He had a group of guys he was friends with and he'd go hang with them when he was bored or feeling left out. Jaimie-mae was the only one who noticed he had a crush on Bella, but she never said anything. She'd just watch and smile when Arabella gave Kano a bit of attention.

All four of them looked out for each other. And they all cared a lot for Jaimie-mae and she was extremely thankful.

"What happened on wednesday? Are you okay?" Bella asked as she scanned Jaimie-mae for injuries.

"Yeah i'm good guys. Thanks for checking on me though." Jaimie-mae meant it this time. She was good. And it had a little something to do with a certain brown eyed, dark haired boy.

"Alright, well if anythings happening you can come to us okay," Kacey said sternly. She'd be a good mother.

"Yeah. Of course, thanks guys."
