CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Sakyja's Sweetening

2:36 am.

"Go to sleep mane." Tae said to Kaisen who was up and full of energy, bouncing on Ky's chest and pulling on Tae's twists.

Ky surprisingly was making her way to sleep through it. She tried to tune out the feeling of pounding on her chest and the sound of baby blabber.

"Just ignore him." Ky softly said thinking that if neither one of them payed him any mind, he would eventually lay down and go back to sleep.

"Bah bah bah!" Kaisen yelled at her.

"Cmon' stinky man lay dowwnnn." Ky practically begged trying to reason with him.

"He bout to get his lil bad ass whooped." Tae grumbled out making Kaisen sit down, quickly at that. Kaisen knew how far to take it with Tae.

"Watch Mickey?" Ky asked him as she turned it on and pointed at it. Kaisen cheesed with spit drooling out of his mouth.

"Yesh." Kaisen blabbered out making Ky reach for the remote that sat on the night stand and turn his show on.

"Can you go get me the frooties out your car?" Ky asked Tae reaching over and tapping his chest.

"No." Tae said blankly. He wasn't about to go outside in his drawers because this little girl wanted some candy.

"Why not?" Ky asked with her face pouted.

"I'm not going outside at three in the morning for no candy." Tae explained.

"You scared?" Ky genuinely asked making him scoff.

"I almost called you sumn'." The boy spoke looking at her like she had grown three heads.

"Yea yea. Can you get me some cookies out the pantry then?" Ky asked. Her sweet tooth was aching.

"Pantry? You too proper. It's the snack closet." Tae "corrected" her.

"Pantry. Now go get my cookies please." Ky said before looking down at Kaisen who was hopping his head to the hotdog song.

Tae swung his feet first out the bed, huffing as they hit the cold floor. He felt the ice like feeling through his thin socks making him shudder. Getting up, he stomped his feet to the kitchen making Ky look at him with her eyebrow raised until he was out of sight.

"Sassy." Ky spoke out to her self before bursting in to laughter, remembering the look of his tight butt in his under wear.

"Uncle got a strong booty." Ky cooed to Kaisen who paid her no mind, being that Mickey had all of his attention.

"Bae." Kaisen spoke out as he pointed to the tv and chewed and slobbered on his finger.

"You said huh?" Ky quizzed, trying to see if she heard right.

"Bae." Kaisen repeated pointing to Daisy Duck again.

"Minnie better." Ky said making Kaisen lift his hand and smack it down on her shoulder.

"Ouch boy." Ky instinctively hollered out, rubbing over the now stinging area.

"You're so smart. You really knew what I was saying." Ky smiled.

Tae walked back in with cookies,candy, and a clear fruit juice he had bought two days ago.

"I want some of that." Ky said pointing to the airhead extremes Tae had in his hand.

"No. You said cookies and that's what you going to eat." Tae said dropping the ziploc bag of soft sugar cookies in her lap.

"But Se'Antaeeee." Ky whined making Tae plug his ears with his fingers and plop on the bed.

"You hear me bro." Ky laughed reaching over towards him and pulling at his arms to unplug his ears.

"I don't bRo." Tae said mocking her resulting in getting a smack to the head and his candy snatched from his hands.

"URRRGGHHHH" Tae screamed to the stop of his lungs while bending his body back, and flexing his arms.

"Boy what the hell." Ky looked at him crazily before looking at Kaisen who was still watching Mickey, unbothered.

"You fucking irritatin'. Real fucking irritatin'." The clearly pestered boy grumbled out while aggressively pointing his finger to the side of the girl's head.

"Move." Ky said shooing his hand away and opening his candy.

"Why would you even tell me to bring the cookies if you were going to do this." Tae asked while looking at her bite at the plastic to rip it open.

"I didn't know you had these." Ky shrugged before finally getting the package open.

Ky pulled out a piece of candy before humming towards Tae to feed it to him, resulting in him opening his mouth.

"Good?" Ky asked after dropping it in his mouth and watching him chew.

"Yea. They sweet thou." Tae shrugged out as he reached his pinky finger in his mouth to pick the excess candy that buried it self into his back teeth.

"I don't need them then. I already got twelve cavities." Ky said, shaking her head as she continued to eat the candy.

"Give me this shit." Tae said snatching the candy from her and the cookies from her lap.

"Give it back." Ky said seriously trying to look hard.

"You ugly as fuck. Loosen your face up some." Tae said holding a disgusted look on his face.

"You so damn mean, you say anything." Ky said looking at him while she shook her head.

"Who?" Tae quizzed with his eyebrow raised.

"You." Ky answered.

"Cares!" Tae yelled, his voice overlapping hers before he bursted into laughter.

"Goodnight." Ky blankly said before reaching over and turning off the lamp.

"You gone make me eat my candy in the dark? I'm scared." Tae sarcastically jeered.

"Shut up." Ky said looking at him in the dark.

"You looking at me? Don't look at me." Tae spoke out.

"Nobody looking at your ashy face ass. You dirty." Ky quickly insulted making Tae's mouth drop but she couldn't see that of course.

"What? Why I gotta be all that?" Tae questioned in a sad manner. He wasn't sad seriously, he just had a burst of energy and felt like playing.

"I don't know. Ask your mammy maybe?" Ky quickly spat out before covering her mouth.

She didn't mean to insult him like that. She was so used to cracking jokes back and forth with Jaliy that she didn't have a finger. She was hoping and praying he didn't take that personal.

"I fucked with that." Tae said genuinely laughing making her sign and laugh too.

"Don't say it no more thou. I'll roast the shit out of your mama fat ass." Tae said making Ky choke and cough on her laugh.

"Sakina ain't even fat." Ky retorted.

"Well I'll roast the shit out "SaKiNa" skinny crackhead body ass." Tae said, quickly generating a come back.

"Go back to sleep." Ky laughed before snuggling up with a now sleep Kaisen.

"I don't waannnaaaa." The clearly sleepy boy whined out as he viciously rubbed at his eyes.

"You like a big ole' baby. You clearly sleepy." Ky said to him making him huff in response.

"Im not sleepy, the fuck? Real niggas don't sleep! We just tak- " Tae began before being cut off my Ky snatching him by his twists to lay down on her chest.

Tae didn't have a rebuttal so he snuggled up against her and stared off into the darkness.

"Bra damn, hot breath ass." Tae said feeling Kaisen breathe all in his face due to him being laid right across from him.

"Not too much on him." Ky rebutted before telling him to shut up and go to sleep.

Tae complied, finally. He closed his eyes taking in the feelings of being held by some one and being able to hold them too. He never really experienced this so a feeling of euphoria was definitely there.

"Naw nigga you need to learn how to drive." Ky said back to Tae. They were in the car on the way to her house, arguing.

"Ion need to do shit!" Tae clapped back making a sharp right turn with his sporting a deep mug.

"You got a whole baby in the back dude." Ky muttered as she looked at him stupidly, watching his face soften.

"Yea so you better be lucky." Tae said in defeat because she was right but still wanting to have something to say back.

"You just always gotta talk shit." Ky scoffed before sinking in the seat and swiping her phone open with her face identification.

"Sholl do." Tae childishly pestered her.

"Turn on my street so I can get the FUDGE up out of here." Ky exclaimed seeing her street come into view, dramatically and frantically gathering her things.

"Nigga yeen finna act like you do ready to go from me. The fuck?" Tae disgustedly said slowing his driving down.

"The whole time we been riding you been pushing this junt. Now that it's time for me to go you wanna drive UNDER the speed limit? You full of shit." Ky chuckled making sure to put emphasis on under.

"I do what the fuck I want." Tae said before turning on her street and soon parking in her driveway.

Ky gathered her things and sat them on her porch close to the door before returning to the car to bid her goodbyes.

"Bye-Bye my stinky man." Ky said softly to Kaisen pulling him out his car seat, who was chewing on his fingers and slobbering as usual.

Ky continued to play with him and coo at him as she felt the hot tears weld up in her eyes. She didn't even know why she was sad for real.

"I know you not crying Kyja." Tae said looking out the window before turning the car off and getting out.

Tae walked over to the sniffling girl who held the bad tightly to her chest and pulled her into a side hug.

"You gon' see him again bra, be cool." Tae lightly laughed as he continued to console her.

"When?" Ky asked softly, voice cracking as she looked up at him.

"When ever you want to." Tae said in a reassuring manner as he reached his hands to her face and thumbed away her tears.

"Okay." Ky said still holding Kaisen and rocking him back and forth. She didn't want to let him go.

"I can come back and get you in a few days, if that's cool with your mama. Kaisen gon' be with me for like a week." Tae offered her, seeing her eyes light up.

"Yes!" Ky yelled out, not intending to.

"Damn okay." Tae chuckled at how excited she sounded.

"Im about to go." Ky said. It was hot outside and she didn't want to burn the baby up in this heat with him all pressed against her body.

"Say less." Tae said watching her buckle him back in and then wipe away more tears.

"We gone see you later, ight?" Tae said to Ky pulling her into a hug, feeling her arms wrap around his lower back.

"Okay. Be safe." Ky said pulling away and looking down at her feet.

"Yea, fasho. You be safe too." Tae said before watching her walk towards the door and get in the house safely then getting back in his car and driving off.

"So who was that?" Sakina said coming out the kitchen with her hands on her hip, scaring Sakyja.

"What are you talking about?" Ky quizzed softly trying to sneak her way up the stairs.

"Bring your little ass back down here." Sakina sternly said making Ky stop at the fourth step. She had almost made it.

"NOW SENAI!." Sakina yelled, seeing Ky still standing on the step with her back turned towards her.

"Why are you yelling?" Ky asked while she twiddled at her thumbs.

"Don't question shit I do little girl. Why are you lying to me?" The frustrated mother asked.

When Ky asked to stay with Tae, she didn't really ask to stay with Tae. She asked if she could spend the night at Jaliy's house so of course her mother agreed. That's what Ky would always tell her mom when she was with Tae but this time she got caught up.

"How I lie to you?" Ky continued to play her roll. She wasn't going to say anything until she figured out a lie.

"You told me you were staying with Jaliy. Your ass stayed with a nigga, who has a fucking baby!" Sakina yelled pointing in her daughters face.

"Don't nobody even got a baby." Ky rebutted, bring her hand to her mouth and beginning to chew off her finger nails.

"Sakyja I will smack the shit out of you girl and you know it. Stop playing with me, ok?" Ky's mom said before rubbing her hands on her face. She didn't need to be stressing.

"Ok." Ky said before turning to the stairs.

Sakina grabbed her by her shirt and yanked her back towards her, flinging her to the couch.

"You still playing like life ain't real." Sakina said softly feeling her self get angry. When she was talking and trying to make reason, she was okay. When she got silent? That's when people should get worried.

"Why you lie?" Sakina asked nicely.

"How you know if I lied or not? What if i did stay at Jaliy's and he just dropped me off?" Ky said smartly.

"In his boxers? His shirt? Smelling like him? Senai you must think I wasn't your age before?" Sakina pulled at her clothes and laughed before going in the kitchen to grab her phone.

Ky took that time to let out a deep breath and begin praying to God. Her stomach was doing flips right now.

"But since you say you were at Jaliy's, let's call." Sakina chuckled unlocking her phone and going to the "Other Daughter🙄🩷" contact. She pressed on it letting it ring. A few seconds later the call comnected.

"Hey mommy." Jaliy answered.

"Hey baby. What you doing?" Sakina replied while looking at Ky who looked like she was about to shit herself.

"Nothing, at this store getting fruit snacks." Jaliy said before the phone shuffled around.

"Oh bring me some when you can, I sholl been wanting some." Kina said smiling and rubbing her belly.

"I got you mommy." Jaliy smiled.

"Anyways, Ky with you? She said she spent the night over there last night." Sakina questioned with her eyebrow raised. Meanwhile, Ky head was in her knees and she was silently praying.

"Huh? No. I was with her yesterday but naw she didn't come here last night." Jaliy said confusingly.

"Oh maybe she at her GiGi house. She probably meant that she was with you for the day not the night." Kina reassured before bidding her goodbyes and hanging up.

"So?" Sakina laughed.

"I was at GiGi house." Ky continued to lie.

"Bring that phone down here, that iPad, that computer, the tv cord, all of it. I even want that Apple Watch too." Sakina sternly said resulting in tears to fill the girl's eyes.

"But mommy." Ky started off.

"Don't but mommy me because you just sat and lied in my face and trying to continue to lie. I want all that shit NOW Senai." Kina said before walking off back into the kitchen trying to finish cooking.

"I need 20 licks too!" Sakina yelled after Ky who was stomping up the stairs.

"Hmp. She not whooping me." Ky scoffed collecting all her stuff to take to her mom.

Ky got everything, stacking it up neatly in a clear tote storage container, and going downstairs to drop it off.

As she walked down the stairs, she could see her mom popping a pan of meat loaf in the oven before grabbing the belt off the counter.

"Sit that right there and hold your hand out." Sakina dryly instructed. She didn't want to whoop Ky, she never did. Even as Ky was a kid, Sakina dreaded giving her a whooping but sometimes Ky needed it.

"Ma no. I'm too old for all that." Ky shook her head and wiped her tears.

"Girl fucking please. You seventeen, still in school, still in my house. You better hold your fucking hand out." Sakina spat out.

"I'll move out." Ky said before feeling the belt slap against her bare leg causing her to wince in pain.

"1." Sakina shrugged. She wasn't going to be sitting here all day. She was going to give her, her whooping and move on.

"Ouch ma." Ky cried rubbing over the spot before being hit on the other side resulting in her to wince again.

"2." Sakina said before reaching out to slap the belt against another spot on her leg.

"Ok ok ok. Here." Ky said holding out her hand and beginning to get most of her licks on her hand.

"16." Kina counted out after a few minutes. "Only a few more."

"Do my booty." Ky said. Her hands were burning up and her legs were too bare to keep getting hit.

"Okay turn around." Kina instructed watching the girl turn around slowly but still look back to see when the the hit would be on it's way.

"All the way around." Sakina dryly instructed.

"Ma I am turned. My butt right here look." Ky said pointing to her butt.

"Okay." Sakina said before swinging the belt and hearing it connect with the girls bottom side, making her jump and cry.

"That's 17. Get the last three over with."

"Okay." Ky said turning back around and getting two more licks on her butt.

"I can't take it. Oh my god!" Ky cried after the nineteenth hit connected. She hadn't gotten a whooping in so long because she hardly ever did anything wrong so this pain was foreign.

"One more. Where you want it at?" Sakina asked seeing Ky stick her pinky out in response.

"I'll add 10 more dont play with me." Sakina said making Ky quickly get her act together and point at her butt.

Her mom nodded before turning the girl's body around and pulling the belt back extra far this time. She needed to make the last one stick with her.

"20." Kina counted out as she slapped the belt down extra hard causing Ky to yelp and instinctively rub over her tender bottom side.

"Go up to that room. You can come down when it's time to eat." Sakina said sitting the belt down on the table and going to check on her food.

Ky walked up to her room and got in her bed as tears flowed down her cheeks. Her body was sore and her feelings was hurt. Plus she knew she was going to bored for the time being she was on punishment.

"I hate this house, Im gone run away!" Ky said continuing to cry, whine, and complain. She soon after fell asleep.

"It's food downstairs." Sakina said to Ky who was sleep in the bed.

Ky gave a mug in return instinctively since she had been woken up before fixing her face. She tossed her legs over the bed and onto the floor as she yawned.

As Sakina walked out, Ky blankly stared at her back side with no thought in mind but disbelief. She hadn't gotten a whooping in so long, this felt so foreign.

Ky then looked down at her legs tracing over the raised whip marks with her pointer finger. They didn't really hurt anymore but it was visible.

She hoped that they would still be there for the next two weeks or so, so that she could go to school with shorts on and get her revenge on her mom.

Being knocked out of her thoughts by Isaiah's loud booming voice, Ky got up to put joggers on before heading down the stairs.

"Wassup PayPay?" Isaiah greeted her reaching in for a hug. Ky declined by scooting out of the way.

"Hey." She dryly greeted back before sitting at the table waiting on her mom to finish fixing their plates so she could fix hers. She didn't want to be close to that lady at all.

"You ight? What's wrong witchu' ?" Isaiah questioned with confusion on his face. He hadn't seen the the girl in a while so h e was wondering what he could have did.

"She mad cause she got her ass whooped for being fast." Kina laughed continuing to scoop mac and cheese onto one of their plates.

"Girl please shut up." Ky mumbled under her breath making her mama drop the spoon into the pot and look at her.

"You said what?" Sakina asked looking shocked and anger drawing all over her face. Ky was shocked herself so she didn't respond.

"She didn't say nothin'. " Isaiah quickly spoke out trying to save the young girl and keep peace in the house.

"Naw. Senai go pack your stuff." Sakina said blankly instantly getting tears from Ky.

"What?" Ky asked lowly.

"Go get your shit! You going to your grandma house."

"Ion wanna go there." Ky said shaking her head no.

"You got such a smart mouth though. You didn't even used to be like this but it's cool. I'm not gone keep asking you what's wrong or what's your problem. I got a baby who's depending on me. I can't be stressed." Sakina said throwing down the oven mitt and leaving towards her room.

"What?" Ky asked now more confused than ever. Her heart was racing, her eyes were watering, and her stomach was in knots.

"It's gon be okay. It's gon be okay." Isaiah said rubbing her back before placing his hands on his head and pacing the floor.

"I'll just get my stuff." Ky shrugged. Apparently her mother was pregnant and she was stressing her out, she didn't want that.

Ky ran up the stairs and snatched down her duffle bags off the rack in the closet. Filling them up with clothes she really needed and wanted, she began talking to her self.

"She's pregnant? She be having sex?!" Ky said going to her bathroom grabbing hygiene products.

"Im not going to my GiGi house, let me call Jaliy." She spoke out to herself. She made a bad habit of talking to herself as a kid, especially when she was nervous or anxious.

"Alexa. Call myliyliy." Ky instructed to her Alexa dot who soon responded.

"Now calling "myliyliy brown heart" Alexa said back before dialing could be heard.

"Hey bestie." Ky said softly to Jaliy who had finally answered and previously greeted her.

"Your mama was just calling tamn bout where you with me girl. Have you talked to her, she sounded worried?" Jaliy quizzed flipping to the other side of her bed.

"I was right there. I lied and said I was with you but I was with Tae." Ky shook her head.

"BITCH! Why you ain't give a bitch a heads up or something?" Jaliy asked sitting up in shock. She felt bad for not having Ky's back.

"Girl it's cool. She want me to go with GiGi. I don't want to go over there Liy." Ky hinted at coming over there.

"Girl you know you can come over here. Don't piss me off." Jaliy laughed resulting in Ky letting out a well needed sigh.

"Okay. Thank you so much. I'll be on the way in like thirty minutes." Ky said lightly before hanging up and continuing to pack her things.

As she was finishing up her last bag, she heard knocking at the door.

"Yes?" She answered staring at the door, the door knob now turning.

"I just was coming up here to see if you were okay and see if you needed any help, ya know?" Isaiah said.

"Im fine. Only help I need is taking these to my car." Ky lightly laughed pointing at the three big duffel bags she had on the floor.

She didn't pack everything up. She barely had twenty percent of all her things but it still seemed like so much. She even had a back pack dedicated to only hair stuff and another one for hygiene.

"Yea I got you." Isaiah said grabbing two of the bags and heading down the stairs with them.

Ky stood for a few seconds before heading towards the car with her two backpacks.

Walking down the stairs, she saw her mom sitting on the couch watching SpongeBob and eating a pickle wrapped with a fruit roll up.

She didn't bother to say good bye because of course they weren't on the best of terms. She just continued out the door with her eyes pointed to the ground.

"Im so ready to go to school."

"It's your senior year right? I can't believe you want to go." Isaiah laughed, overhearing the girl talk to herself.

"Yea. That's why I'm ready to go, I'm ready to get it over with." Ky said as she watched him put the last duffel bag into her back seat.

"I feel you. Any plans after school, like college?" Isaiah asked now leaning against her car.

"I don't think I want to go to college. I'm smart but not smart enough to stay in college another 4-6 years. If I do go, I would probably major in psychology. I want to be a therapist." Ky shrugged.

"That's sounds good. I could see you doing that Pay." Isaiah smiled nodding his head at her plans.

"Yea."

The two stood in silence. Only thing that could be heard was the wind whistling. They were both in deep thought about a lot of things and the fresh air was like a best friend to them right now.

"Is my mommy pregnant?" Ky blurted out in question. She was becoming so guilty and stressed about the thought of stressing her mom in general, let alone while she was carrying a baby.

"Yea." Isaiah said smiling. It would be his first child and he was beyond excited.

"How long?" Ky questioned.

"How long what?"

"How long has she been pregnant? Like how far along?"

"Only 3 months I think. Hell that's what the undersound said. " Isaiah said trying to remember what the picture said.

"It's ultrasound." Ky giggled.

"Whatever!" Isaiah shrugged waving her off.

They continued to talk before being cut off by the house's squeaky storm door. Sakina walked out with her arms folded.

"Hey baby." Isaiah smiled at her going towards her and kissing her, rubbing her belly in the process.

Ky took this time to just get in the car. Getting in the driver's seat, she adjusted her seat. She hadn't driven in so long, it felt like it had been forever

"Hey sweetie." Sakina said lightly indulging back into the caressing acts before looking towards the car.

Ky rolled the passenger's side window down  after hearing light taps on the glass.

"Hm. I love you, be safe." Sakina said softly  as she dropped the girl's phone in the seat. Since she wouldn't be at home, or around for how ever long, she wanted to make sure she could contact her.

"I love you too, I will be." Ky said back. Tears again burned against her eyes and she didn't even know why. This just felt like a sad moment.

Sakina walked back in to the house and Isaiah walked up to her passenger window, placing his forearms on it as he was leaned over.

"Well ight Pay. Be safe ya hear me? I love you." Isaiah said making Ky smile.

"I love you too 'saiah. Be safe too." Ky bided her good byes before Isaiah patted the car and she drove off.

Making her way to Jaliy's home, she listened to Calm and Patient by Jhene Aiko. She loved Jhene.

And I know whatever happens, I'll be happy

Humming to the song, she continued to drive and think. She didn't think she wanted to talk to Tae any more. It seemed he was getting her in more trouble lately and she was doing things she knew better than to do, for him.

All for a boy who was bi-polar and always confused her about where they stood. One minute they were cool and the next they weren't. His personality and the way he treated her wasn't a reason to keep falling short of her expectations.

As the song ended, she was pulling up to the gas station that was closer to Jaliy's house. She needed to pick up some thing to eat since she never got the chance to.

Getting out the car, she saw a lot of boys standing around the entrance of the gas station and throught out the actual parking lot. She now dreaded getting out.

She got out, ready to get it over with, and walked towards the store. Of course as she walked she got many cat calls, but she just threw her hair back over her shoulder to show the AirPods that plugged her ears.

After getting in the the store safely, she immediately picked up her and Jaliy's usual snacks and some chicken tenders. She placed all her stuff on the counter before running back towards the back and getting drinks.

Once she returned, she could see a frame already at the card reader.

"Excuse me." Ky softly said trying to pay for her things.

"I got it." The boy said with a familiar voice that she recognized. It was just her luck, it was Tae.

Ky looked up at Tae who clicked on the card reader, paying for his and her things.

"Thank you." Ky said quickly giving her thanks, grabbing her bag, and rushing out the door. She said she wasn't going to talk to him any more and she meant that.

Just as she got in the car, she heard gunshots. Instinctively, she threw her head down and locked her doors. Her life couldn't be real right now.
