He put his long and pale hands to his fair and skin as white as his face, sliding through his bluish-silver hair until it halted and gripped tight on the middle that he narrowed his astonishing bluish-silver eyes to me.
The first time I had seen such an appearance in my two lifetimes, a figure beyond magnificence, that I never thought would exist.
"Didn't you want to take revenge?" His voice became playful.
A smirk written all over his face, but his eyes remained narrowly glued to my being.
"Revenge?"
"When I look at you, you indeed exude this aura of being abandoned, but neither you have the hatred, nor willpower to have revenge, why?"
I could sense some curiosity in his tone.
When I blinked, dust formed behind his silhouette, and his eyes only reflected my whole being, as if he was already caging my soul to his grasp.
I gulped.
Something was telling me that if I answered his questions wrongly, he could kill me, or worse, leave me hanging in this place he brought me...alone.
"I don't have an inch of desire to take revenge," I put my hand to his chest and slightly pushed him but he never bulged.
"That wouldn't be what a young woman who was abandoned would say, young lady"
"Well, if you haven't heard it yet from others, maybe this would be the first time you're hearing this from a lost woman in here"
"You have the conviction, don't you? Tell me a good reason why don't you want revenge or I might just spare you"
"You're going to kill me?"
"No one will always be safe once they know my true appearance"
"Why are you disguising in the first place?"
"Tsk, tsk, tsk... Darling, we are talking about your reason so don't deviate me with certain questions out of the topic," he whispers.
Hot air cascaded through my skin, his scent gave me goosebumps.
I could never push this creature away from me, not when I felt like he was holding my breath.
"So you better give me one damn f*cking reason not to kill you, or else, I would have to use these hands again to be tainted no matter what," through gritted teeth, he spoke with fury and I could taste some bitterness in it.
Then why make me have that favor in the first place if he'll kill me?
I shook my head.
"Reasons..."
"Reasons? Is that it? How pathetic of an answerââ"
"Perhaps, if you find their reasons, then you would understand why they have done the things they did to your family"
"Reasons? But what if they just killed my family for their pleasure, is that a good reason? Remember this young lady, there are no good reasons to kill... and I guess you just answered me in the wrong way. So do you have any last words?"
"Let's say they enjoyed killing and it's because of their pleasure, but what made them enjoy that? Don't you want to know first the cause and understand in their point of view beforeââ"
"It's already too late, young lady..."
As he put his hands to my cheeks, I could see he continued to lean in closer to me. I could smell his minty scent.
But whenever he leaned, I could see a faint glow of smoke coming out from my mouth going within his mouth, as if he was claiming something from me.
I tried to move, yank my feet, and push him away with my hands, but no matter what I thought to do, those were never in action.
I could neither move nor stop my breath from being taken away.
So I just resorted to one last cry, closing my eyes as I felt warm tears streaming down.
Is this how my life will end? I did change some of the outcomes, gathered a lot of friends, made Caliere finally look at me and be friends with me, I could finally see a bigger frame, but...
My thoughts got cut off when this young man suddenly knelt in front of me. Though his hands were now gripping my shoulders tightly.
I could see him shivering, as if he had run a few miles to catch his prey and there, I could finally move.
I jumped backward, to see that he was still kneeling but now, his hands were on his chest, in the part where his heart would beat.
I prepared myself to attack as I gathered my weapons but his cries caught me off, guard.
He wasn't screaming in his cries, he was just looking at me with wide eyes and hands still on his chest.
"What are you trying to do? Did you perhaps think it was my end, huh? Well, sorry to disappoint you but I still have nine lives to live..." I don't know what exactly happened or how I managed to get away from his grasp.
But I wouldn't let this opportunity be wasted.
So I'm already taking advantage of my actions.
I tried to throw some arrows at his chest, but his hands caught it faster than I expected, so I ran as fast as I could, far away from where he would catch me.
I landed my back on a sturdy abandoned and ruined wall from the place, it must have been something created for a particular purpose but it was abandoned.
Shaking my head, I rested it on the cold brownish-red wall and closed my eyes for a moment before imagining how the young man acted earlier.
But I never thought that by doing so, I would see a bright bluish-silvery light engulfing my vision after I landed them on the cloak of the sky.
Before I knew where I was, what I was doing, and what I was going to do, the bright and powerful golden rays of the sun shone through my vision that I had to put my hands over my over to cover them.
Still, I could feel how warm everywhere was, and I knew I was in the middle of a meadow, where rose petals swirled through the passing cold and warm breezes colliding. I could feel how it neatly combed my hair.
With the voices I'd been hearing, I turned to look at a family, who wore old country clothes, they had a common appearance like any ordinary people living in a small village and perhaps this was their small place.
As I walked towards them, I approached the woman, who looked in her late twenties and talked to her, but it seemed that she couldn't hear what I was saying so I tried to hold her shoulders but my hands kept passing through her body like I was some ghost.
I didn't know what was happening, I tried to remain calm and know what to do but when I blinked, the happy cozy moment of this family turned to changed.
The sky was grayish until a few seconds ago it turned dark. There was lightning above, and I could hear some thunders. Then it rained, but it wasn't an ordinary rain, it felt like there was a storm coming.
The meadow began to fade, the rose petals that twirled and danced with their vibrant hues together with the breeze, became dark. Then I ran, I ran and ran towards the small house of a family that was now burning.
There were cries within but no one bothered to help, no one because this was the only house in this place.
I tried to look inside, since the fire couldn't burn me, and there I found a small child lying in the small house, I tried to carry it but no matter what I did, I couldn't, until I heard two people's voices from the back.
"We have to save him, we have to save Peter!"
"I know we have but we can't be in that fire, Bea, we're risking our livesââ"
"So what? It's not like I would be important to my family then..."
A small young child who had golden curls and silvery eyes wearing ordinary clothes came forward and carried the sleeping child passing through my body as if never existed.
She came with a few burns and the one with the crimson hair helped her, but the young man sure had an item of very expensive clothing, a noble in his stature, and all I could see was his back as they got to help the child.
It was odd.
I never have experienced this in the past, nor do I have a memory of this in my past life, but when I looked at the sleeping child being carried by the two, I could see him smirking at me.
Then I heard someone's screams.
"Always screaming would do you no good, young lady"
"What? How? Why? Where? Huh?"
Before knowing that familiar voice and appearance, I saw myself in a very different place, inside of a cave, as I presume, and as after I was first found in nowhere, a coat was lying on top of my body while I was on the ground.
"I changed my mind, I guess I would not kill you...yet..."
"Why? You said that you would and it would have been perfect for your plans if you just have me kiââ"
"I know, but I never kill an opponent in their weakest moment, it would put a taint to my reputation as I believed in my thoughts. Instead, I'll wait for the right time. For now, I guess you still have the favor I told you"
"Are you kidding me?"
"Do I look like I'm kidding to you?"
He was in his previous appearance, instead of that dreadful night where I saw his dazzling true appearance.
"Besides, I haven't even canceled the favor, so are you going with me toward the Belfore East or not?"
Wait, what the heck just happened? Isn't he supposed to kill me? Then why? My thoughts came to my mind slower than I thought.
Was it because of the favor?
"One last question before I say my answer," I paused looking straight into his eyes
"Why would you disguise yourself?"
