The moment he said those words, I knew that my lips already took its gap but before any words could escape from my mouth, I felt his warmth covering my shoulder as if he was readjusting my coat leading me to a place where Lexus saved.

Then he looked from everywhere and his eyes narrowed. I could see how he managed to make his figure loom over me and in a few seconds, shadows of armed knights were circulating within the place.

I could hear people gasping while others started murmuring then there was this one knight from them all, that had been talking and the noise had calmed down although I could still hear some whispers of doubts.

"You're fiance, did all of this as I mentioned before. Although knights were trying to reassure everything and everyone to be safe, it just wasn't justified with his words," he said leaning over while he kept on adjusting my coat.

Even if we weren't seen because of my magic, it doesn't make sense why Jer was doing this

"Jer, we couldn't be seen. I have my magic wrap up around us and——"

"I know that you're already in the Secron level as Master Oratio had managed to tell me, however..." he didn't continue his words but his eyes and pointing finger were trying to convey their words and before I knew it, my eyes were already following his gaze.

And it all landed on the people and yet, I couldn't see why he would look at them and hide like this when I was already using my magic and there's the point that I held both of his hands and indeed, I captured his soul.

But then my reflection wasn't just all alone in his mirror, I could see some other things that weren't there, or was I just hallucinating?

I tried to blink a few times and looked into that orb again until I could hear him sigh with that being said, he narrowed his eyes and immediately moved me from where we were until I could see the grayish brick walls surrounding us and that's when he put his hands on both of his knees.

As if he had just run a few marathons with his difficulty in breathing for a second before managing to lean his back on the coldness of the corner.

"Jer, I can't even describe a word why you're saying something like that, and besides, you're indeed acting weird for some——"

Before I could finish my words, he grabbed me by the arms and pulled me closer I could eventually smell the breath he had, as if he had just cast a spell on me that I could barely open my mouth but my eyes widened when I saw something that wasn't part of my memories in his eyes.

"Lady Vestia, I think you need to know something, from that fiance of yours because from the very first moment I laid my eyes on him, I knew already that he wasn't normal..."

"Laid his eyes on him? Wasn't that normal? I haven't even——"

This time, like before I couldn't finish my word snot because he cut me but because of these scenarios swirling through my mind until I was already in that place, as if my soul had been shifted and there, I saw Caliere for the longest time in a week.

However, he was talking to a person, or was that a person? All I could see was, that it must have been his knight clothed in black clothes since he must have something to keep secret considering that they were talking in this empty-looking space.

I don't know since I couldn't even know where I was. When I tried to look around, I felt like I was in this abandoned place, everything was dark, and there were no lights except some rays from within the huge window where there was some gap behind the curtain.

"Where am I?" I asked as I looked into my hands, but then I could barely whisper those words and I could eventually hear something creaking right beside me.

Perhaps, it was Jer's magic and when I tried to do something with mine, I felt like it was being absorbed eventually, when the creaking began to sound like a loud noise, I tried to put my hands to cover my ears and closed my eyes.

However, hard I tried to implement my own magic in this place, but it doesn't even seem to work.

But the moment I laid my eyes in front of me, I couldn't help but stumble on the floor, feeling both of my hands try to grip the floor when there was nothing to hold onto.

I heard two men cry, one had this white cloak like that of the high priest that I'd seen that dark nightlife, and the other one was a knight, he was wearing some knight clothing but it was ordinary compared to the ones that were worn by the nobles' knights or even the imperial knights.

"Please, Your Highness, we weren't the ones who did those things, please believe us?" The one with the white robe knelt accompanied by the other as they rubbed their hands in front of the young man who had this bloodied crimson hair.

Tears were already forming in his eyes, while the other also did the same thing but one of his hands was already moving behind him to touch that dagger.

"Caliere!" I shouted I was near him but then I couldn't help but run to where he was, I tried to reach my hands to his position to even divert his body from the blades but before I could do so, I heard someone snapping and when that happened, crimson fluid came gushing through the floor.

I looked at my hands and tried to reach Caliere again but I felt like a ghost, I couldn't even touch him even if I was this inches close to where he was.

But then, why do my hands have this blood?

I looked at where the other two were, and there, I could see one of the men who had ordinary knight clothing had his body on the cold floor with blood gushing all over the place because the dagger that he had been holding had pierced his own heart instead.

I could see how the white-robe man screamed and put both of his hands to his ears and eventually, his body started to shiver and he couldn't even look at where Caliere was.

Or was this even Caliere?

I don't know since the moment I laid my eyes on him after that bloodied scenario, I felt like he was a very different man, a person that was foreign to me as if I had never met him with his golden eyes becoming dull each second that passed.

"I'm not a very patient being, Hodus, so if you keep on lying through your gritted teeth, then you'll end up like one of your traitorous friends, do you want to?" I heard that deep voice, a bone-chilling voice, one that I could never forget one that had been engraved through my heart, when he said the word pity.

That was the moment I knew that I meant nothing to him but right now, I don't even know why I was here.

"Y-Youe H-Highness, I-I don't know, I-I don't even know where the prophecy went. I-It suddenly disappeared from my sight and when we——"

Instead of making the white-robed man continue his words, I could see his mouth formed to be flat when Caliere immediately took a few steps near where he was and knelt.

But before he could lean in closer to where the man was, I could see how his eyes narrowed when his hands that were touching the air were now already slowly descending to where the man's chin was.

"Did you know Hodus?" Caliere asked and his voice became a whisper but like one where I could sense it came from the abyss.

"Everything I touch, when I knew they were already worthless, would fade and disappear as if their soul had been burned, so one last time, Hodus, where is the Hildigger's prophecy?"

"P-Please Y-Your H-Highness, f-forgive me, I-I——"

"Then there's no other chance for you left, say that when you meet hell instead, Hodus..." his words that felt like ashes' whisper came embedding through my mind, and before I could process everything, I felt his eyes on me.

It wasn't like the ones that he would look at me, that gentleness from his eyes that never faded, but this time, I could see how his eyes turned like blades narrowing through my soul as if he also wanted me to fade away like the man that turned to sands.

"Who are you?" He managed to utter but right at that moment, I felt this warm light enveloping me and before Caliere's figure could take me, I felt closing my eyes and when I opened them, I was already in the same place where I was from earlier.

Only this time, I saw Jer leaning over the wall beside me with his hands on the middle of his chest, and his mouth was heaving deeply as if he was losing air from his body that moment when I touched his body, I could see the images that I have seen earlier, it was enough to make me vomit but I managed to calm down.

I took his shoulders and encircled them through mine, and I whispered.

"Jer, I can't bear to lose you now, I still have a lot of questions but first thing, why am I in that place? How did you manage to put me through that?"

As I could feel that I had the magic, I immediately teleported some of the bottled medicine and made him drink.

It took him a few more times to eventually calm down unlike earlier when he felt as if his soul was burning.

"Lady Vestia, I think you should be careful with your fiance, I could feel a dark aura around him and he might never be the one who he claimed he was..."
