Time moved slowly and in that fateful scenario, I knew the light cascading on the edges of his figure swore an oath to me like what Claudius and Henry did.

They were the ones I knew would never die because I have faith in them the same kind of faith with Cain and Celna.

As if my body moved on its own, I pulled him closer as I spread my warmth to him. I gently patted his back and chuckled when he did the same thing.

"I knew you would never go back to your words, so let's go now?" Like before, I didn't even wait to hear his words because I was already grabbing him by his arm and walking to where our carriage would be.

"This doesn't seem like the lady's carriage?" I could hear him whisper and all I could do was chuckle.

"Of course, silly. That's why I have this mask and coat, I would never let my identity be known, not when I have this plan, okay?"

"If my precious lady friend says so," I could see him salute and I just chuckled.

The carriage on the outside doesn't have the seal of my family, and it was only simple, brown as if carved in wood with no design or anything. But Jack would always be the horseman I could ever have.

"Then off we go now, towards the market..." I say and the silver rays of the moon descend their way toward the carriage compensating my curled-up smile.

It didn't take us long because the moment that the carriage halted, and I went out together with Lexus, he immediately moved toward the shadows while I looked around.

The wind was cold, and the only things I could see around were dried leaves being swayed by the cold breezes.

The cloaked sky's jewels and its mighty orbs lit the surroundings turning it into a place of forgotten land, and yet, silence was a deafening scream around.

My attention got caught by this one thing that made a move, a snapping of a branch but when I laid my soul to the narrow alley right beside me, I could see two silhouettes.

One was small, the other was huge, but they were all sitting on the ground with arms wrapped around their bodies, neither had a blanket to provide for their own, and the coughing of the small figure was continuous like the endless wind passing through.

I took a step, one, two, and three before I halted to see that those two figures were already adjusting their heads with their eyes focused on my figure.

I snapped from my reverie, and inhaled a few deep breaths, enough to open my eyes and face the reality of this cruel world.

"Hi there," I started, the two's mouths were tightly closed, while their eyes sought questions from an unknown lady covered in a coat that resembled the dark sky, and a face that only half of was visible.

I could resonate with their gazes, and it was never a hostile one, it was one where they would want to question a lady like me, and why would I dare approach people like them?

I sighed.

I guess it was hard to talk to them but that doesn't mean that I needed to give up, not when I'm already this far.

I should have known from the start how hard to convince people with this look but I just wanted to be truthful instead.

"I know that you two will never trust a lady like me," I faked a cough while putting my hand on my mouth trying to know what I was saying.

It was my first time, talking to people and I might never be good at these, but I know that I would be if only I could get past this confusion building up my thoughts.

Shaking my head once more, I finally decided to hand them a bottle of medicine.

"Please, I know that you might never trust me because I'm a stranger, but if you suddenly heard rumors about a mysterious lady giving medicine, then just speak my name, it would be Agnes. Please use this medicine and it will heal your illnesses..."

As soon as I gave them those bottles, I bowed and was about to head out until I felt that someone tugged on the ends of my coat. When I looked in front I could see how Lexus went over from his shadow.

But then, I raised my hands in front of him and curled up my lips as I nodded.

"Miss Agness, t-thank you..." the small child spoke and when I turned to look at the individual, the child was a young boy. He had this messy hair and skin that was full of dirt.

This was the first time that I saw an appearance like this, I always thought that in the past, the empire was wealthy and so even if the commoners didn't have any noble titles, they would be living off their best interests.

Yet, this proves me wrong.

It seemed that the current emperor was too busy on something that he wasn't able to see the real situation of his people.

"A lot of us have been starving, some were sold off as slaves to another country and we remained here barely escaping the grasp of those people," I could hear the old one say.

I gasped and nearly stumbled if I weren't able to process those words immediately.

"But thank you, Miss Agnes, this was enough to keep us warm on this chilly night. My son would be able to be healthy again," the old man said who had a long beard and some dirt on his face. He had this torn-up hat but he was still able to speak with such kindness even though they had already experienced much more in this life.

I knew that I shouldn't feel this way, but my stomach was hurting, and the drum within my chest wouldn't stop beating heavily until my vision got blurred and the only thing I did was hug the both of them.

"Please be safe always. This is the only thing I can do for now, but I hope that in the future, I will be able to do more for you all," they hugged me back and nodded with a smile.

Right now, I was waving at them and they waved back. I could barely even lift my eyebrows when my eyes continued to water down.

"Vestia, do you need my shoulders for now? Maybe it was enough for those two to have those bottles and let's continue this tomorrow night-----"

"It's all right, Lexus. I know I wanted this and so I also wanted to continue for us doing this..." I said and silence became his response.

I hugged him one more time before we headed toward the small village.

The rustling of the leaves reverberated within the tranquil night, when I looked around, there were only houses that had small lamps in front of their houses.

They were so tiny but enough to fill up a family, a complete family who would be able to do their normal lives.

I continued to knock on one door until a small child opened it. I tried to look within but there was no one else, until a huge shadow loomed over the small girl.

"May I ask what do you need from our house in the middle of the night?" An old lady asked, she wore ordinary clothes but were enough to keep herself warm from the chill of the night.

I beamed at the two, although they must have noticed by now how unusual my clothes were, I knew that they didn't speak much but the action of the old lady was to immediately close the door and yet, I held onto it

"Please don't be afraid, I was just giving my medicines to the people around. I knew that these might never be enough but please. These bottles of medicines would be enough to keep you and your children away from sickness"

"And what if we don't trust a word you said? You don't even want to show us your face, what if you put in there was a poison to poison us people?"

I could see her point since she just wanted to protect her family, so, I grabbed one of the bottles that I created and in one gulp, I made them look without blinking.

"There was never a poison in these, proven that I just taken one of the bottles and please, don't misunderstand but if you want credibility, then my name for you to know would be Agnes. One day, it will never just be enough for me to give you all medicine but I will establish a clinic for all of you..."

I could see how the old lady widened her eyes and opened her eyes as the small child chuckled and grabbed a hold of two bottles from my basket.

"Thank you, Miss Fairy Lady named Agness!" The small child spoke and I patted her head.

"Be always good and healthy. Those will keep you away from any sickness..."

I heard the child chuckle and moved within the house as the old lady faked a cough she was already looking elsewhere but her hands were already in front of me.

"T-Then give me as well for an adult medicine. It would be free, right?" I chuckled

"Of course," then I gave her as she was also the one who helped me give some medicines within the houses nearby.

At first, the people were hesitant to claim my free medicines until the old lady who had the same name as the one I was using, went to convince them and I owe her something for that.

The night could never end, but before I waved my goodbye, the old lady immediately grabbed me by the hand and led me within her household, I could see that she wasn't living only with her daughter but also two daughters.

The other one had a fever, while the one was already making her sibling drink the bottle I gave her.

I didn't even know that Lexus already followed me within the old lady's small house but kept hidden from the shadows.

We waited for a few more moments, before finally, the fever had already gone down and the daughter whom I've known was the eldest, came sitting on the bed and hugging the youngest sibling she had.

"Thank you!!!" The old lady cried while hugging me and I caressed her back in return.

"I owe you so much, what can I do as a favor to you?"

The night was chilly, and it didn't take me to go back to my household with Lexus. I'm already in my bed, but I never regret helping people.

As I looked behind me, I could see Lexus leaning his back against the wall of my room.

"So after we help people every night, we would go to a party called the nobles' dark nightlife?"
