Chapter 43

There were some days it almost felt like a dream. That was something Akane kept thinking about. In the morning, when she first woke up, her mind almost didn't want to accept that what it was seeing was real. A warm, clean house, a loving home, and the man she adored waiting to text her good morning. If this was a dream, if it was just a product of her own twisted mind, then she never wanted to wake up.

She'd stay mad forever if it meant getting to be with Caleb until the end of her days.

That morning, Akane was awoken like normal to the sound of her phone going off. She smiled and checked her contacts, expecting her usual message from Caleb.

It was from Tomoe.

:: You certainly seem happy. ::

She frowned nervously and texted back.

:: I am. ::

There was no response. Akane decided to text again.

:: Is that okay? ::

Yet again, Tomoe didn't respond. Until finally, she heard the familiar ping of her text alert.

:: The cherry blossom trees have finally bloomed. ::

Akane's heart leaped into her chest.

:: It needs to be today. Cement your destiny. ::

She collapsed back on the bed, deep in thought.

"Cement my destiny...."

Another text alert. She beamed. It was from Caleb!

:: Good morning, my love. I'll see you at school. ::

She sighed wistfully before texting him back.

:: I'll see you at school, darling. I love you. <3 ::
