Chapter 17

I headed to my room dismissing the maid who left before curling up on my bed with a frown.

I hated everything that was happening. I hated the fact my birthday was in three days and I hated the fact everyone was upset but acting like everything was ok.

... but what could I do about it.

Three days passed

I didn't know how to feel

Sighing as I stood still while the maids worked on the dress. There had been a dress code for the banquet the colours white and blue or black and gold silver could also been used

White and blue since I'd be tested for divine powers black and gold for Mana and magic while silver was in between.

"Nearly done m'lady" the maid smiled fixing my hair I looked myself in the mirror with wide eyes.

A white dress with black blue and gold laces stitched together.

Pearls and silver gems were intertwined through my bright blond hair two carved silver roses sat on ether side. I didn't even realise someone could look like this.

"Thank you!" I smiled to the maids who nodded just as they had finished there was a knock on the door.

"come in" I called Gilliu and Mayron burst in wearing similar cloths as mine but Instead of the silver roses in there hair which would have been funny to see. They wore small silver rose cloth pins "Rossetti" Gilliu instantly grinned "come on mum and dad are waiting!" Mayron exclaimed as they both grabbed my hand.

"Ok! I'm coming wait-" I followed them more like forced to follow since they pushed me along stepping out mother was standing there with a small smile "are you excited?" She asked

She was wearing a black dress laced with gold and silver her hair jewels were silver and neatly done.

father was next to her dressed the same as Gilliu and Mayron.

"Happy birthday" Father smiled mother was watching so I did what I had always done without trying to seem nervous I hadn't seen Father for a while.

"Father you came!" I exclaimed with a wide grin I hoped it didn't show I was faking it as I ran up to him Father hugged me "It's been a while my daughters grown a lot hasn't she" Father looked at me with a smile I pulled back and nodded

"I'm eight now!" I said proudly Father chuckled "come on everyone will be waiting"

I nodded grabbing Gilliu and Mayrons hands as we walked ahead mother and father walked behind us as we reached the banquet hall.

The guards I was familiar with smiled "happy birthday lady Rossetti" one of the guards said "thank you sir Samuel!" I exclaimed.

As they opened the door we walked in I felt a hundred pairs of eyes land on me. Yes I was nervous! Yes I was panicking a little but when I caught sight of grandfather Uncle Laurel Uncle Galahan and cousins Tia had barely been able to make it but the doctor had given her the all clear she was wearing a beautiful white dress with small blue flower pins. Larane was next to her, Her usual calm Aura making me less nervous she had white pearls weaved between her hair and was wearing a white mixed with light blue dress.

I scanned the people nearly faltering a little there were a lot of people even the emperor and empress had showed up!

Cousin Belsach was with his father and he was glaring at Tia with rage. Nearly everyone had showed up except aunt Ronnece of course she wouldn't be able to make it.

"The star of the day has made it" The emperor chuckled I didn't really know how to act around the royal family but seeing how mother nodded for me to greet them I bowed down and greeted them.

"Greetings to the suns of this empire may peace and blessings be upon you"  I stood up straight when they nodded there heads in acknowledgment the first prince clearly didn't want to be here. "I'm glad you could make it to my birthday" I grinned trying to seem fine with the fact maybe half the nobles had come!

"with such a bright young lady's birthday happening today we couldn't miss it" the empress smile but I could see her gaze pinned on me usually this stuff wouldn't have a ceremony.

Like sister Tia never had to do the test since she had lowly blood in her- that's what Father used to call it when mother wasn't around now he seemed to actually think of Tia as a niece.

Grandfather patted my head making me snap out of my thoughts I looked up and a huge smile whisked across my face "grandfather!"

"Happy birthday to my dear granddaughter" grandfather chuckled.

But he was interrupted when the guards made an announcement of an arrival

"Duke Alphonso Reylond Schulz and Duchess Elina Estonia Schulz are now entering" the guard announced I instantly turned around to face my grandparents my fathers parents I've never met till now.

Grandfather who stood next to me smiled and nodded at me as I moved away next to father who was greeting his mother and father.

I faltered A little as they both looked at me Duke Alphonso I hadn't heard much about him before only the fact he was a very cold Mage and barely smiled. I could see that now straight blond hair like father and cold amber eyes as he looked down at me while grandmother- she smiled warmly I instantly noticed her bright Ruby red eyes and silver like hair.

Her eyes were like mine.. "Rossetti why don't you greet your grandparents they came a long way just to see you" Father stood aside so they could get a clear view of me for a second I seemed to catch fathers warning gaze.

'Don't mees it up? Disapproval? Annoyance?' I couldn't figure out what the gaze had meant but I turned to my grandparents.

Taking a deep breath and placing my hand on my chest lightly "greetings grandfather grandmother I am Rossetti Schulz Lombardy" I stood up straight keeping my gaze on the floor for a second before looking up.

The cold gaze in my grandfathers eyes faded instantly into an amused smirk he picked me up which I had not expected! I nearly yelled in surprise but I stopped myself last minute "It my precious granddaughters birthday how long has it been my she's grown a lot! Lulack how dare you not tell me anything in those letters!"

I looked at my two grandfathers who were chuckling Grandmother smiled "come on Alphonso put her down you scared the poor girl!" Grandfather did that while grandmother pinched my cheeks "your Auntie and Uncle are meant to arrive soon surely Viestian you told her about them!"

Father smiled "yes but I haven't been able to tell her much since she's never met them I mean younger brother is at the magic tower and his restrictions have only been lifted for today while sister and her children never come around"

My feet touched the ground and I've never been more thankful as the grown ups talked I tried to focus on what they were saying till grand father (Alphonso Viestian's father) smiled turning to the large door he said "There here"

As if he were able to predict the future! The guards announced the arrival

"Now entering Duke Astor Estonia Schulz leader of the magic tower" I turned my head that must be my uncle who recently took over the magic tower since it's all Father had talked about to mother he hadn't seemed happy I turned back to father who's expression went cold for a second.

Looking back To my Uncle I realised . He was nothing like Father, grandfather or grandmother! Well he looked liked grandmother but he had blond hair and red eyes plus he was taller then father! Wasn't my Uncle younger then father it didn't make sense?

He looked serious and unimpressed when I greeted him next to him was another Man with dark brown hair and bright hazel green eyes he was wearing a black Robe it was obvious he was a mage. "So this is the young lady" the Mage said with a warm smile "don't mind Astor he's always grumpy especially since it's been five years since he left the magic tower" I looked at him wide eyes "five years!?" I turned to my uncle who nodded and huffed "stupid emperor and my lovely father loves to dump all his work on me" Uncle rolled his eyes he didn't act his age which was unusual.

Not even a few moments later a family entered the door the guards announced there names but I hadn't quite caught it since Uncle called me short and I had argued back making him argue with me! Seriously uncle didn't act his age at all!

"I'm not short! I'm average!" I huffed Uncle rolled his eyes as I glared at him just then a fan hit the back of his head

"are you seriously arguing with your niece!" I looked at the lady in front of me she looked exactly like grandmother silver hair soft featured but she had Amber eyes like grandfather next to her were two children a boy and a girl one was older and taller around Gillu and Mayrons age he had black hair and Amber eyes which seemed to shine like gold but a smirk was on his face "I finally meet my little cousin since the other two seem to disappoint" the black haired boy huffed "you bet us in a sword clash one!" Mayron pointed a finger "still bet you though" the black haired boy shrugged "you guys all act like five year olds" a girl with silver hair and red eyes huffed she looked the same age as Gilliu and Mayron as well.

The girl turned to me "don't listen to them bicker I'm Daphne Schulz Cyrus and that there is my twin brother Damen"

I smiled "I'm Rossetti Schulz Lombardy and those are my older brothers Gilliu and Mayron but you guys all seemed to know each other"

"Mhm one time only though I was at home with Father though" Daphne nodded to a tall man with Black hair and Forest green eyes that nearly seemed black.

"Now that everyone is here let this banquet begin to my granddaughter Rossetti happy birthday" Grandfather raised his glass while everyone else did as well "Rossetti you should open your gifts!" Sister Larane said with a soft smile Gilliu and Mayron nodded in agreement "cousin will like my gift more then the both of you trust me I asked Aunt Shannet in a note what she would like!" Damen huffed handing me a gift while Gilliu and Mayron rolled there eyes "no ours will be better she's our sister!"

"Cousin Rossetti will like my gift the most" Daphne shoved them both away handing me a small red box I opened it with wide eyes small Ruby earrings "wow I love it" I said looking up at cousin Daphne Gilliu Mayron and Damien glared daggers at her "ours is better" Damien muttered "yea by a long shot" Gilliu grumbled handing me a black box it was a silver necklace with a rose charm in the middle it was made out of a red gem so a Ruby?

"Brothers is this! Wow!" I said "no wait open mine!" Damien handed me a blue box I opened it and smiled it was funny to see Gilliu and Mayron argue with someone. It was a light blue dress with silver stitches if I were to wear the necklace Gilliu and Mayron had given me it would look great! Along with those earrings they must have all asked mother- I smiled at that.

"Thank you Brother Damen and sister Daphne" they both froze sister Daphne smiled pinching my cheeks "I wish I had a little sister!" She huffed I looked at her confused but laughed.

"Don't we get a Thank you!" Gilliu grumbled "yea where's our thank you!" Mayron huffed  "thank you brothers Gilliu and Mayron I love the gift" the both smiled Mayron ruffled my hair "hey the maids worked hard on that!" I grumbled and Gilliu snickered.

Tia Craney and the others joined us handing there gifts and I opened each one one by one it was fun sister Tia had gotten me a red dress saying it was from her fathers shop and she had it decorated herself. Larane got me a book I had been wanting for a while along with a hair pin. Craney had gotten me a painting Belsach a Emerald brochure-

Grandfathers started arguing over something then they both turned to me "who's gift do you like more!" Grandfather Alphonso grumbled but Grandfather Lulack chuckled "I told you mine"

"A privet garden is nothing!" Alphonso exclaimed "a-a garden!?" I said wide eyed looking at grandfather who nodded it took a few seconds to seep in "yes but a privet manor in the north!" Alphonso exclaimed "a what!?" I said with wide eyes Grandfather Alphonso huffed and nodded that took longer to seep in when Uncle Astor handed me a box that seemed to move "hey it better not be anything dangerous!" Father exclaimed but uncle rolled his eyes "I'm not that bad!"

I opened it and squealed when a fox crawled out! A white fox with deep blue eyes "get that thing away from her it'll bite her!" Grandfather Alphonso exclaimed trying to pull the fox back "what you can't get a pet fox for and eight year olds birthday?" Uncle Astor asked "NO!" Auntie and Grandfather Alphonso exclaimed at the same time "but it likes the girl clearly" Uncle Astor shrugged I just stood there what was happening!?

The fox was cute though I'd have to convince mother to let me keep it... later!

"Ok that's enough!" Mother broke the argument up "why don't we get on with the ceremonies?"
