Nylaâs eyes instantly welled up with tears as she pulled Mason tightly into her embrace. Her voice trembled as she said, âBuddy, Iâm happy as long as I have you.â
Mason reached out his little hand and gently patted Nylaâs back, speaking in a mature tone. âMommy, Iâll be good. Weâll be fine in our new place.â
Releasing Mason, Nyla wiped away her tears and smiled. âOkay, letâs go to the new place together and start a new life.â
Mason nodded vigorously, his expression filled with determination.
They didnât have much to pack, finishing in just a morning.
During lunch, Nyla shared their plans to leave with Lydia.
Lydia froze, nearly spilling the soup she held. She quickly set it down, her face filled with disbelief.
âMs. Kinsey, why are you leaving so suddenly? Did Mr. Sumner not let you stay anymore?â she asked.
Looking into Lydiaâs concerned eyes, Nyla felt a warm wave wash over her. Lydia had been so kind since her first day here. Now, as she prepared to leave, she felt reluctant to say goodbye.
âLydia, itâs not like that. Buddy and I are moving out, and Mr. Sumner agreed to it,â Nyla explained.
Lydia was taken aback. âHow could that beâ¦â
âItâs true. He told me before he left for a business trip yesterday. Iâm really grateful for your kindness, and Iâll definitely come back to visit whenever I can,â Nyla promised.
Lydiaâs eyes reddened at these words. Nylaâs promise to visit likely meant she wouldnât return after leaving. She could tell Nyla wanted no further contact with Damon.
Wiping her eyes, Lydia said, âThereâs another dish in the kitchen. Iâll go get it.â
Nyla felt a pang of sorrow at Lydiaâs sadness, but she knew she couldnât stay here forever. Leaving was only a matter of time.
After lunch, Nyla and Mason left on their own, declining the offer to have the driver take them.
Lydia watched the car fade into the distance, her eyes misting with reluctance.
Beside her, Maddie scoffed. âFinally gone! Looks like she didnât succeed in seducing Mr. Sumner. Makes senseâheâd never fall for a scheming woman like her.â
âMaddie, shut up! Whether Mr. Sumner likes Ms. Kinsey or not, heâll never look at you. Keep your useless thoughts to yourself!â Lydia chided.
Maddie pouted and turned away, falling silent.
Lydia ignored her and returned to the villa to tidy up Nylaâs room.
As soon as she stepped inside, she spotted a property deed, a set of keys, and a bank card lying on the

bed. She froze, uncertain what to do with these items, and quickly contacted Damon.

Once Nyla settled into her hotel room, she received a call from Damon.
âWhy didnât you take the villa? And whatâs with the bank card you left behind?â he asked.
Nyla lowered her gaze. âMr. Sumner, Iâve thought it through. I donât need your compensationâI can buy the villa myself. As for the bank card, there should be enough money in it to cover the losses incurred by Prospectus Technology during this time.â 1
After a moment of silence, Damonâs cold voice came through. âWhat do you mean by that? Are you planning to completely cut ties with me?â
âWe donât really have a relationship, do we? But donât worry, youâll always be Buddyâs father. If you want to see him, just call me anytime. I wonât stop you,â Nyla reassured.
As soon as her words fell, she heard the busy tone on the line. It seemed Damon was angry.
Nyla calmly tucked her phone away and opened her computer to browse for houses. Since they couldnât leave Saintornia for the time being, she needed to consider buying a place.
