Chapter 462
Clark briefly flipped through the reports, handed them back to Jordyn, and said indifferently, âRemember to keep these safe.â
Jordyn took the reports. After placing them back in the drawer, she turned to face Clark, âClark, is something wrong today? You seem a bit off.â
Her unease grew as she wondered if he had discovered something.
Clark squinted slightly and, after a few seconds, said, âItâs nothing. Iâm probably just tired from work.â
âThen lie down on the sofa, and Iâll give you a massage,â Jordyn offered.
âNo need. I have work at the company. I just came to see you. Get some rest,â Clark replied.
Normally, Jordyn would have tried to persuade Clark to stay, but she had her own concerns and didnât push the issue today.
Once she confirmed that Clarkâs car had left, she immediately called Rebecca. âRebecca, did you say something to Clark?â
âWhat do you mean?â Rebecca asked.
Jordyn sneered. âWhat do I mean? Clark suddenly showed up tonight asking to see my prenatal checkâup reports. The only person who knew about that was you. You must have said something to him!â
Rebecca sounded impatient. âYouâre not worth my trouble. Instead of questioning me, maybe you should consider if youâve done anything to make him suspicious. After all, guilty consciences have a way of showing, donât you think?â
âAre you sure it wasnât you?â Jordyn pressed.
The response she received was a dial tone.
Jordyn put down her phone, feeling a twinge of unease Could it really not have been Rebecca?
She had been extremely cautious lately and hadnât done anything to raise Clarkâs suspicions.
After thinking it over for a long while, without finding any clear answers, Jordyn decided to visit Clarkâs office the next day.
Early the next morning, Jordyn walked into Clarkâs company carrying a lunchbox.
When she reached the top floor, Michael stopped her. âMs. Austen, Mr. Sumner is busy right now.â
Jordyn furrowed her brow. âThen Iâll wait for him in the lounge.â
âMs. Austen, Mr. Sumner is in meetings all day. You can leave the food with me, and Iâll make sure he gets it, Michael offered.
Since Jordynâs visit was part of her attempt to gauge Clarkâs reaction, she wasnât going to leave so easily. âNo matter how busy he is, he should still have time for lunch. I have nothing to do, so Iâll wait here and

have lunch with him. You just focus on your work, and donât worry about me,â she said, walking toward the lounge without waiting for a response.
Michael, feeling helpless, returned to his desk and called Clark to inform him of Jordynâs arrival.
Clark had just finished his medical checkâup. When he received Michaelâs call, his expression darkened. It was hard not to suspect that Jordynâs sudden visit had something to do with the fact that he had just visited her the night before.
His lips pressed into a tight line, and his gaze grew increasingly grim.
Within half an hour, Clark returned to the office.
When Jordyn saw him, a wave of unease washed over her. Clark had been out, so why had Michael lied about him being in meetings all day?
Suppressing her doubts, she approached Clark with a smile. âClark, I made some food for you since you said you were tired last night.â
Clark took the food with a cold expression. âIâm quite busy today, so I donât have time to spend with you. The driver will take you home later.â
âAlright.â Jordyn nodded, then casually asked, âWhere did you go just now? Meeting with a client?â
Clark hummed, clearly unwilling to elaborate. He then instructed Michael to arrange for the driver to take Jordyn home.
