Chapter 337
âWho are you to stand up for her?â the woman demanded, struggling to free her arm from Gabrielâs grip but failing.
âI donât need to explain my relationship with her to you,â Gabriel replied coldly. âWhat you did to her was caught on surveillance. Iâll take her to get checked out, and then the lawyer will discuss medical and emotional compensation with you.â
âOh, she hit me too! I can get checked out too. Itâs no big deal!â the woman retorted defiantly.
Gabrielâs eyes grew colder. He leaned in close, his voice a
threatening whisper meant only for her ears. âYouâd better pray sheâs okay. If sheâs hurt, Iâll make sure you regret this.â
The woman shivered at the genuine menace in his tone, sensing he wasnât merely making empty threats.
Frozen in fear, she watched as Gabriel released her and swiftly picked up Nyla in a bridal carry, heading toward the door.
Nyla was surprised by Gabrielâs assistance, especially after their conversation the previous night.
As they reached the door, she protested, âYou can put me down. I can walk on my own, and thereâs no need for a hospital check.â
Despite the hard fall, she didnât believe she had any serious injuries. A few days of rest should be sufficient.
âNo, weâre going to get you checked out,â Gabriel insisted.
Nyla frowned. The fall might not even qualify as a minor injury.
As she was about to argue, she noticed a cold gaze fixed on her.

Looking up, she saw Damon standing not far away, his entire demeanor radiating icy anger.
Seeing Damon approach, Nyla tightened her grip slightly and murmured, âArenât we going to the hospita? Letâs go.â
Gabriel glanced down and smiled almost imperceptibly when he saw her pale face.
âAlright,â he replied, turning toward the parking lot and acting as though Damonâs murderous glare didnât exist.
Gabriel owed Damon a debt of gratitude. Had Damon not reconciled with Rebecca, the employees at Prospectus Technology wouldnât have mistreated Nyla, and Gabriel would never have had the opportunity to become a hero at that crucial moment.
Damon had personally sent Nyla to Gabrielâs side.
Damonâs anger was palpable, his eyes fixed on Gabriel with an intense glare.
As he moved to confront him, Spencer intervened, âMr. Sumner, now that youâve reconciled with Ms. Austen, itâs best not to involve yourself with Ms. Jayston any further. Your actions will only worsen her situation.â
Damonâs steps faltered. After a few seconds of wrestling with his swirling jealousy and anger, he turned and walked back into the building with a stony expression.
Once on the top floor, Spencer opened his computer and was briefed by another secretary on the morningâs events, âMr. Hogg, should we inform Mr. Sumner about what happened?â

Spencer frowned. âJust go back to work for now.â
After dismissing the secretary, Spencer contemplated whether to inform Damon about the targeting of Nyla. With Damon already reconciled with Rebecca, intervening could only exacerbate the situation.
As he hesitated, the internal phone rang. Damon wanted him to come in.
Upon entering Damonâs office, Damon coldly instructed, âFind out why Gabriel was carrying Nyla out of the company.â
