Chapter 120
Damon was reviewing documents in his office at Prospectus Technology when his personal phone suddenly rang.
He answered, and Marieâs booming voice came through. âDamon, come home for dinner tonight.â Damon glanced at the pile of unfinished documents and immediately refused. âIâm busy.â
âNo matter what, you must make time tonight. Otherwise, Iâll go to your office and drag you home myself,â Marie warned.
Marieâs commanding tone left Damon feeling helpless.
âThereâs too much to do today. I really canât make it,â he said.
âNo excuses. You must come back for dinner. Even with your busy schedule, you can always spare time for a meal,â Marie insisted.
Without giving Damon a chance to respond, Marie hung up.
By the time Nyla and Clark had moved Nylaâs things back to the villa, it was already past 4:00 p.m.
After taking a shower and changing clothes, they headed to the Sumner residence.
As Clark pulled up to the entrance, Damon was about to walk in. Hearing the car, Damon turned around, his eyes narrowing slightly upon seeing the license plate. His expression became distant.
Nyla noticed Damon first from inside the car and subconsciously tightened her grip on the seatbelt. Clark also saw Damon, and his gaze darkened. âLetâs get out.â
As soon as Nyla stepped out of the car, Clark walked over and took her hand.
At that moment, Nylaâs skin crawled. If Damon hadnât been watching, she would have pulled away from Clarkâs touch.
Noticing Nylaâs compliance, Clark smiled and led her toward Damon. âUncle Damon, what a coincidence.â
âMm.â Damonâs gaze passed over their joined hands before settling on Nylaâs face. âWhy arenât you saying hello?â
Nyla flushed with embarrassment. She had assumed that Damon would ignore her after what had happened in the restaurant. However, she didnât expect him to make things difficult in front of Clark.
She bit her lip and murmured, âUncle Damon.â
Damonâs gaze lingered on her red lips for a moment before he turned away coldly.
Noting Damonâs frosty attitude toward Nyla, Clark was slightly surprised but quickly masked it with a smile. âUncle Damon, Nyla is quite shy. You might scare her like that.â
âIf sheâs scared, she shouldnât have been brought along,â Damon retorted.
With that, Damon turned and walked away.

Watching his retreating figure, Nyla felt a wave of indescribable sadness. From the look he gave her, it was clear he genuinely disliked her.
Although this was the outcome she wanted, she felt no joy at all.
As Clark led Nyla into the living room, Damon was already seated on the sofa, talking to Richard and
Marie.
Upon seeing the smiles on Richard and Marieâs faces, Clarkâs gaze darkened.
No matter how hard he tried, their attitude toward him was always lukewarm, unlike the enthusiasm they showed Damon.
âGrandpa, Grandma,â the couple greeted.
Marie looked at Clark and Nyla with a smile. âClark, Nyla, youâre here. Have a seat. Ms. Hulle will be here shortly.â
After exchanging greetings with the elders, Nyla took a seat next to Clark but kept a slight distance from
him.
Marie didnât pay much attention to them. After all, their presence was merely a formality for tonight.
âDamon, do you remember what I told you earlier? Be attentive to Ms. Hulle tonight, or I wonât forgive you!â
Damonâs peripheral vision caught sight of Nyla, who was staring at the floor, lost in thought.
Noticing her lack of reaction to Marieâs words, Damon exuded a chilly aura.
