As soon as Nyla finished speaking, Clark immediately agreed. His main priority was getting Nyla back by his side. Everything else could be dealt with later.
âNyÅa, donât worry. I promise I wonât overstep any boundaries. I swear.â
Nyla had heard these empty promises from him many times before and didnât take them seriously.
Since she was going back, she was determined to protect herself. If Clark tried to force himself on her, she wouldnât let him get away with it.
âOkay, Iâm heading back now. Drive safe,â she said.
Over the next two days, Nyla rested and packed her things at home.
On the day she was set to move, Valarie suddenly came to visit.
Seeing Nyla unharmed, Valarie sighed in relief.
However, her expression soon turned troubled. âNyla, why didnât you tell me about being kidnapped?!â
Noticing Valarieâs disapproving look, Nyla explained, âI thought you were going through a rough time, and I didnât want to add to your stress. Since Iâm fine, I didnât tell you.â
Valarie glared at her. âHow could you keep something like this from me? If I didnât know someone working at the police station, I might still be in the dark!â
âIâm sorry. I should have told you. I promise I wonât hide anything like this again.â
âIs there going to be a next time?â Valarie asked.
âNo, I mean Iâll inform you of any major issues immediately in the future,â Nyla clarified.
Valarie gave a reluctant huff at Nylaâs sincere expression. âThatâs better. But are you really okay?â
âYeah, just some minor injuries. Nothing serious.â
âThatâs good.â Valarie then noticed the packed bags and boxes in the living room and frowned. âYouâre moving?â
âYes.â Nyla nodded and told Valarie about her plan to move back to the villa,
Valarieâs expression turned extremely grim. âNyla, are you crazy? Clark cheated and got another woman pregnant, and you still want to go back? Are you out of your mind?â
Nyla understood Valarieâs disbelief. If someone had told her ten days ago that she would be moving back to Clarkâs villa, she would have thought they were insane too.
âValarie, I have reasons for moving back that I canât share with you right now,â Nyla said,
The Harris Pharmaceuticals incident involved too many people. Investigating it could interfere with many interests and lead to unexpected dangers, so it would be better if fewer people knew.
âWhat could possibly make you go back to that jerk? Donât tell me you still have feelings for him?!â Valarie

asked,
Nyla was about to deny it when she noticed a gray jacket flash by at the door. The words she was about to say changed direction.
âActually, I still have some feelings for him. This move is conditionalâif heâs willing to cut ties with his mistress, I-â
âEnough!â Valarie interrupted sternly. âI thought you were someone who could handle relationships with maturity. I was wrong. If you want to go back and suffer, I canât stop you. But let me tell you: that jerk will never change!â
âMs. Weir, are you talking about me?â Clarkâs cold voice came from the doorway, his gaze icy as he
looked at Valarie.
Valarie sneered. âI didnât expect you to be so selfâaware. Yes, Iâm talking about you, you scum!â
Clarkâs expression darkened, and he exuded menace.
Nyla looked at him indifferently. âSince youâre here, you can start by helping me move these things downstairs.â
