Chapter 116
Sensing Nylaâs struggle, Damon paused and abruptly released her.
Nyla trembled with anger, torn between wanting to hit him and remembering that he had saved her life. She bit her lip hard and remained silent, though she was deeply hurt inside.
What did he think of her? He knew she was Clarkâs wifeâhis nephewâs wifeâand still dared to do something like that!
The more Nyla thought about it, the more wronged she felt, and tears streamed down her face.
The Sumner men were all despicable!
Damonâs gaze grew colder in the darkness, his entire demeanor radiating chill, as he heard Nylaâs sobs.
âWhy were you so distant from Clark before, even wanting a divorce, but now youâre having dinner with him as if nothing happened?â he asked.
Damonâs accusatory tone made Nyla frown. Even though he had saved her before, what he had just done and the question he was asking now were far beyond acceptable.
She took a deep breath, wiped away her tears, and said coldly, âUncle Damon, itâs normal for a married couple to have dinner together. But what you did just now, as an elder, is completely out of line.â
Damonâs voice was icy. âOut of line? Didnât you seduce me first?â
Nyla instinctively retorted, âWhen did I-â
Suddenly, she stopped, remembering the night she had found Clark cheating and ended up in the wrong
room.
Seeing her silence, Damon asked, âCat got your tongue?â
âIâve already explained that night at the hotelâit was an accident. If you donât believe me, thereâs nothing more I can do,â she said.
âWhether it was an accident or not, it happened,â he remarked.
Nylaâs expression hardened. Was he trying to pin this on her?
âAs long as nothing happened in the end, it doesnât count,â she retorted.
âYou mean I can do whatever I want to you as long as I donât go all the way, and youâll just pretend nothing happened?â he asked.
âThatâs a misleading interpretation. Iâve explained that night. Believe it or not, Iâm grateful for your help. Still, that doesnât give you the right to do as you please with me.â
After saying that, Nyla tried to push past Damon and find the door, but she was yanked back as soon as her hand touched the handle.
Damonâs voice was filled with anger. âThat mistress is pregnant with Clarkâs child. Soon, sheâll give birth. Can you tolerate another woman having his child and even sharing him with her?â
Nyla took a deep breath and shook off his hand, saying coldly, âThatâs my business, not something for you

to worry about.â
âSo you love him so much that youâre willing to forgive him even if heâs unfaithful?â he asked.
âYes!â
Nylaâs voice was filled with resolve. To uncover the truth about the Harris Pharmaceuticals incident, she had to stay close to Clark.
Besides, her relationship with Damon could never go any further. He had helped her many times and saved her life this time, and it would be a lie to say she wasnât moved.
Any woman would be touched by a man like him who was capable and had been so helpful. But that was all it could ever beâjust a fleeting attraction.
Once she returned to the Sumners, she would bury those feelings deep inside her, never to be seen again. Her relationship with Damon couldnât and wouldnât continue.
As her words echoed, an oppressive silence enveloped the room.
After what felt like an eternity, though it might have been just seconds, Damonâs chilling voice broke the silence. âGet out!â
His tone was filled with disgust, causing Nyla to quiver. She quickly yanked open the door and fled.
