Chapter Thirty-Two

It was the day of Prom and since most seniors would have appointments for hair salons and makeup, Mrs Bright, Redwood’s headmistress gave all seniors the day off which was actually quite generous for her, considering the fact that she wouldn’t even allow us to decorate our lockers any way we’d want to. Not that I’m complaining, my locker was far too messy and overflowing with books to have a sense of style.

For the first time since I had gotten my driver’s license, mum was finally loaning me the car. Although she had let me drive our beat up heap on four wheels whenever she needed me to pick up that bottle of milk or loaf of bread because we had subsequently run out of Chinese takeout, it was still a rare occasion that I had been given the car just to go and get pampered for Prom. And to tell you the truth, I was beyond excited.

Well I was until five minutes ago.

“Amanda,” I greeted in confusion to the brunette girl who stood on my doorway.

“Hi Vivienne,” Amanda easily beamed with a smile which looked slightly nervous, “uh…can I come in?”

I stepped out of the house as I replied as politely as I could, “I’d love to let you in Amanda,” I shut the front door before locking it behind me, “but I kind of have to get ready for Prom and it’s only a matter of time before Mum wants the car back to check on the wedding-”

“It’s about Prom actually,” Amanda cut in before she walked in step with me to our beat up scrap of metal.

“It is,” I asked, my eyes narrowing slightly from incomprehension.

“You see,” Amanda breathed, before she fidgeted with her fingers, “I was uhm asked to go…”

“By who,” I questioned.

Who would ask Amanda to Prom besides from Sean? And he had already asked me to go, plus phoned ahead to make sure that he bought a matching corsage to my dress so there was no way that Sean had asked Amanda to Prom. And the only other people Amanda really knew from Redwood were Chris and Dave. Juliet had confirmed that Chris indeed had asked her to Prom and after the whole thing with his mother, I didn’t think that Dave would have actually come to Prom.

“It’s well…” Amanda hesitated, “uhm…I don’t know how to say it without hurting your feelings.”

I frowned before replying, “You won’t.”

“It’s Dave,” she finally answered softly.

My eyes popped out of their skull and I stared at Amanda in disbelief. Dave as in Dave Peterson, the guy I had dated only to be dumped because he was in love with the old Vivienne, Dave? My mouth dried and I stared, unblinking at Amanda as she watched me, her eyes wide with concern and nervousness. I would have laughed at the irony of the situation. Amanda was the confident and beautiful one in this ‘sisterly relationship’ and yet she was the one looking flustered. But I couldn’t laugh.

I could only stand there, gaping at Amanda unable to say anything. It would have been a lie to say that I didn’t feel at least slightly hurt. After all, Amanda was my sister, half or not and the fact that Dave was my ex-boyfriend and knew about Amanda made me feel sick. But it wasn’t a feeling of jealousy. I mean, I didn’t even have feelings for Dave anymore, heck I was sure that every time I even thought or heard Sean’s name my tummy did a funny tumble around, but it was the feeling of hurt from Amanda that made me feel sick.

“Vivienne,” Amanda broke into my thoughts, “Say something.”

I bit on my lower lips as my fingers weaved their way through the key-ring of mum’s car keys. Sighing I spoke, “What do you want me to say Amanda?”

Amanda looked guilty, “I’m so sorry Vivienne, I really am,” she apologised, “I should have told you sooner and,” she looked ready to flee, “if you’re not fine with it then I can call Dave and tell him not to-”

I held a hand up to silence Amanda before I forced a smile onto my lips before replying, “No. I mean you should go with Dave,” I touched her shoulder, “If that’s what you want.”

Amanda’s green eyes widened at me and even though she was at least a foot taller than me, she still managed to look like the one who was on the verge of crying. She took me by surprise as she pulled me into a hug, her two arms wrapping around my shoulders tightly before she pulled away and grinned appreciatively down at me. For the first time since learning that Amanda was my sister, I couldn’t help but realise we really did have more in common that I had thought.

“Thank you Vivienne,” Amanda breathed, “you’re the best sister I could have ever hoped for.”

I pulled up into the small hair salon, the one that I remembered clearly coming to with Sean the day I dyed my hair blonde. While Lily insisted that she was more than happy to do everything for free, I felt that I needed to pay her. After all, she was the hairstylist that had ultimately made my hair go from looking like a ‘dead squirrel’ to gorgeous blonde waves fit for a goddess.

Lily quickly ushered me into a leather seat at the far end of the salon, away from any prying eyes and smiled widely at me. Her hair had been pulled into a high ponytail; the darkness of her strands looked strikingly black across her milky skin tone. Her beautiful hazel eyes which were outlined with thick kohl scanned my face then moved up to my hair which was tied away from my face.

“So,” she began with a grin, “Prom eh?”

I chuckled slightly, “Yeah, Prom.”

She let out an excited squeal before composing herself after getting a few odd glares from the other clients. Clearing her throat, she replied, “I meant that uh…yay, you’re going to Prom.”

I nodded, hiding an amused laugh as I spoke, “You seem more excited than me.”

“Well duh,” Lily answered in her thick British accent, “isn’t it obvious? I get to make you hotter than this bloke I dated back in England and Sean will have to wait until seven tonight to see you. So yes, the torture to my brother makes me gleeful in the least.”

I laughed then before rolling my eyes amused, “That’s nice to know.”

“Splendid,” Lily beamed, “now shall we get to it then?”

“Yes please,” I enthused.

“Now firstly,” Lily began, “I love seeing your surprised face so you’re not going to see your hair until I’m done.”

“What about my makeup?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Oh yeah,” Lily clicked her tongue, “what colour is your dress?”

“A light pink,” I replied with a frown.

“Bordering on white pink or that medium Barbie pink,” Lily asked in a serious tone.

“Uh…well the first one?” I replied.

“Brilliant,” Lily answered with a grin, “you don’t see your makeup until the end too.”

“But-”

Lily cut me off, “No but’s darling. We have tons of work to do.”

After having my face painted on by Lily, the ‘makeup guru’ as she liked to call herself, she grinned madly to herself which somehow reminded me of the Cheshire cat in many ways. She placed a hand on her hip as she examined my face before nodding to herself with a satisfied smile and then moved on to my hair which seemed to be something she was overjoyed with working on. The suspense was killing me and I was glad when Lily finally spoke.

“So, what are you planning with your hair,” Lily asked, “a sophisticated up-do or something wild and sexy like an untamed curls?”

I chewed on my lower lip before scrunching my eyebrows together. I really didn’t know what I wanted with my hair. Did I want it open and loose so that when I danced it flared around me like magic? Or did I want my hair up and away from my face so that I looked every ounce of the Prom Queen that I was nominated for? My mind was a huge ball of uncertainty as I pondered what I wanted before my answer finally came through.

“Can I have a bit of both?” I asked meekly.

Lily clapped her hands in excitement before cooing, “Marvellous choice Viv! By the time I’m done with you, you’ll be sexier than spicy noodles.”

“Are you ready to see it?” Lily asked; a warm smile against her lips.

I sucked in a breath before nodding eagerly. Slowly, Lily turned me around in the leather swivel chair and as my eyes fell onto the mirror, I felt them widening like saucers. I looked like a movie star. My eyes looked bluer than usual with the dark, smoky eye effect which covered my lids along with a smudge of pink which blended in nicely with my rosy cheeks that looked naturally rosy instead of my horrid blush. My lips matched the pinkness, except it verged on the tinge of a light red, but still held onto its pink hue.

I turned my head from side to side as I surveyed my hair which was pulled into a half up-do and a half open style. A slightly thick braid, made entirely of my hair, was pulled over my crown while the rest of my hair had been pulled into a simple yet elegant bun at the nape of my neck. A few loose curls dangled from the bun while I stared at my face where a few bigger and more defined curls framed my face, giving me the illusion of having a fringe.

“So,” Lily trailed off with a small smile.

I couldn’t help the smile in return, except it was wider than Lily’s and much more appreciative. I breathed my response, “I love it Lily.”

“Good,” Lily replied easily before adding with a smirk, “And I’m sure a certain guy will love it too.”

When I arrived back home to get changed and do my last minute preparations, I was surprised to be greeted by a flash. Blinking away the bright spots that danced around my vision, I found my mother grinning in awe at me. Her eyes widened slightly at my appearance before she placed the camera down and neared me with a breathy sigh. She carefully touched my hair before placing her hands on my shoulders and smiled wider.

“You look amazing honey,” my mother complimented, “like a true swan.”

“From an ugly duckling,” I replied with a smile of my own.

My mother clucked her tongue against the roof of her mouth before reprimanding me even though there was amusement in her eyes, “Viv honey. You were never an ugly duckling to begin with,” she brushed my cheek, “Sean is a lucky guy.”

“Thanks mum,” I whispered.

My mother smiled then pulled me into a warm hug before she smacked my butt and ordered, “Go get changed before I tear up.”

I laughed to myself as I walked down the passage to my room where my dress was hanging against my wardrobe. I smiled a small smile before I began to strip down off my jeans and plain sweater before I began to pull on the slightly pinkish material against my body. The bodice sparkled even more under my room light and I couldn’t help but feel slightly vain as I admired my reflection in the mirror. With my hair and makeup looking more than amazing along with the light pink dress which fit snugly against my figure, I couldn’t help but think ‘I look good’.

Suddenly I heard the doorbell ring and instantly my nerves which had been calm for the last few hours suddenly flared like a fire being lit. My breathing grew faster as I stared at my reflection, wondering what Sean would look like. Biting my lower lip; I peeped my head out of my room door and heard my mother and Sean’s voices drifting towards me from the front hallway at the entrance of our house. Swallowing a nervous lump I backed away from the door just in time to hear my mother’s footsteps.

She pushed open the door with a small smile and instantly she cooed, “Oh Vivienne! You look absolutely gorgeous.”

I felt my heart cords tugging with warmth as I looked up at my mother and smiled in appreciation before I spoke, “Thanks mum, really.”

My mother looked over my dress again before she spoke, “Sean’s here.”

I chewed on my lip nervously as I followed I nodded and slipped on the lacy white stilettos my mother had bought for me to match my dress. I admit, they were more than a challenge for me to walk in but with my dress on and amazing hair, I felt ready to take on the world. Before we reached the living room where Sean was waiting, my mother stopped and ran back into her bedroom before she came out carrying a plain white box.

“What’s this?” I asked, as she handed me the box.

My mother opened the lid of the box to reveal tissue paper and a platinum gold necklace in the centre. I gasped as my mother pulled it out of the box to reveal a simple pink pendant at the end. It was light in colour but pink enough to show that it wasn’t a plain white pendant. My mother gestured for me to turn around before she fastened the necklace around my neck and secured it with a clasp.

“It’s beautiful mum,” I whispered.

My mother smiled before whispering, “It was mine when I was your age. It’s a rose quartz, meant for love.”

“I love you too,” I replied as I hugged her.

My mother laughed before pushing me away, “Don’t ruin your dress now,” she smiled, “but it’s meant for romance Viv…with Sean.”

“Oh,” I replied before blushing lightly, “I uhm…you know…”

Chuckling at my embarrassment, my mother saved me the hassle of turning bright red by leading me towards the living room. Before we had entered, I spotted Sean sitting on the couch looking better than ever. A black tuxedo donned his well-built physique and he held a clear container which held a pink rose in it. I sucked in a breath as I entered the living room and found Sean’s hazel eyes locking with mine.

He stood and smiled a seductive smile in my direction causing my heartbeat to go irregular like it was a crime. My mouth dried slightly and I felt my breathing a hitch before my fingers tingled with excitement. Sean approached in me languid steps before he held out the clear container with another smile. I found my eyes dropping to the small container, wanting any distraction from Sean’s face as my nerves were soaring like a flock of migrating birds.

“You look beautiful,” Sean said in his smooth voice.

I found my voice, but it came out nervous and almost giddy, “Thank you,” then I mentally cringed at my lame reply and spoke, “You’re not so bad yourself.”

My mother clapped her hands before interrupting, “Let me get a photo of you together.”

“Mum,” I began but stopped when she pulled out her camera and ushered Sean closer towards me.

“Say cheese,” she beamed before clicking the camera.

I blinked away after the flash before turning my attention back to Sean who had opened the small container. My eyes went wide as he pulled out the small rose corsage which was lavish and stunning at the same time. The rose was surrounded by silver ribbons and a few jingly beads. Sean gestured for my wrist and I extended my hand, watching mesmerised as Sean slipped on the corsage which felt like silk against my skin.

“There,” he commented with a grin, “fits like a glove.”

I smiled in return up at Sean before slipping my hand in his and asked, “So, are we going to leave or what?”

“I’m fine with the ‘or what’,” Sean replied with a smirk, before he added after noticing my mother’s slight frown, “but you have that whole Prom Queen thing and besides, it is Prom.”

“Good save,” my mother commented with a smile of her own before adding, “Now remember, I’m letting you stay tonight at the hotel and I trust you will be responsible.”

Unsure whether to die of mortification at my mother’s suggestive tone and glances towards Sean, I decided to reassure her, “Don’t worry mum. I’ll be fine and won’t do anything remotely wrong.”

My mother nodded before she sighed, “Well then, you two have fun and remember, steal that crown even if you don’t win!”

Sean pulled up into the hotel parking which was already littered with cars of students. A few couples still lingered about the parking lot, laughing as the entered the hotel entrance while a few girls all dressed up were taking group photos with their friends. I had yet to see Juliet and we had agreed that we would meet outside the hotel for some pictures before heading inside.

As we came to a stop, I reached out to open my door but Sean stopped me with, “No, allow me.”

I couldn’t stop the smile that reached my lips as Sean opened my door and then helped me out with a grin. He turned and shut the door and I began to walk towards the front of the car but was stopped when Sean’s fingers wrapped around my hand. I turned to face him and found his eyes serious as they scanned my face. Swallowing a lump, I found that where his skin met mine, caused short tingles to run up into my arm.

“Did I tell you how beautiful you look?” he asked me.

I licked my lips before answering, “It must have slipped my mind.”

His eyes fell onto my lips before moving back to mine and replied, “Is it just me or have you finally learned how to be arrogant?”

I found my arms sliding up around Sean’s neck before I whispered, “I learned from the best.”

Sean leaned closer and I found my lips parting. He was going to kiss me, there was no doubt about it but before our mouths could connect, we were interrupted by a familiar voice I had grown to love. Sean stepped slightly back, a distance found more appropriate to be standing in a parking lot filled with tons of other teens and my hands dropped away from Sean.

“You should know that public displays of affections are completely disgusting,” Juliet commented with a smirk.

I let my eyes travel down her mermaid styled golden dress which clung to her body like it was especially designed for her. Her auburn hair had been curled slightly and was pulled tightly onto one side of her head. Her eyes were done up with a bright golden sheen while her lips were painted a dark, wine-red. She held onto a tiny golden clutch in one hand while her other was tucked in the crook of Chris’s elbow.

Chris who usually pulled off that whole laid-back look was now wearing a simple navy blue tuxedo with a golden-beige shirt under his suit jacket. His blonde hair had been gelled back from his face, in a much similar way to Sean’s except for the fact that he looked much more ready to go to the after-party than the actual Prom. He grinned at me before glancing at Sean and wolf-whistling.

“Look at you;” Chris commented before turning his attention to me and whispering loud enough for everyone to hear, “I’m so glad you took pity on the poor guy. I mean with that face, it’s hard to even find him a school that’d take him in.”

I laughed but tried to hide it when Sean threw me a look. I linked my arm through Sean’s before replying, “Don’t worry, I find your face very nice.”

Juliet smirked before adding, “Yeah, it’s not that bad.”

“Wow guys,” Sean responded sarcastically, “that makes me feel so reassured.”

“That’s what friends are for,” Chris replied before we all burst out laughing.

The hotel banquet room was decorated fit for royalty. The theme of ‘A Fairy Tale Fantasy’ was portrayed throughout the room from the shimmery drapes which hung from the ceiling, each a golden shade of cream. My eyes flew to the side of the room where tables were set up neatly with a small centrepiece made up of candles and tiny crystal globes in a mock-imagery of a fortune teller’s globe. I neared one of the tables and found tiny name-cards placed along each seat, written in an ancient looking cursive you found in fairy tale books.

“Oh my God,” Juliet exclaimed, before she pointed towards a small white bridge at the end of the hotel’s room, “Isn’t that pretty?”

I nodded in excitement before replying, “Straight out of a fairy tale.”

Sean tugged at my hand before he led me towards the table all filled with our name-cards. I craned my neck and caught a glimpse of four other name-cards. One belonged to Jessica and a guy called Todd who was in the football team. I wasn’t sure that I felt relieved or not for the fact that she hadn’t come to Prom with Matt. The other two place-cards belong to Angelica, the student body president and her date Kyle.

“Oh great,” Juliet complained, “I have to stare at Angelica’s face the entire night.”

I touched her arm before whispering under my breath, “It could have been worse.”

“How,” Juliet asked in disbelief.

I shrugged before replying, “I don’t know, I just said that to make you feel better.”

Juliet rolled her eyes before grumbling under her breath, “If you hear me yell pea soup, then I’m going to lunge at her throat.”

“Pea soup,” Chris asked with a frown.

“Our code word,” I answered with a grin.

Soon everyone had arrived and the hotel banquet room was filled with Redwood’s senior class. Everyone looked just as lavish as I felt and the entire room lit up with tiny fairy lights draped along the walls. A few teachers, including Mrs Bright who sat at the very front of the hotel’s room were nearby for supervision just in case anyone decided to get a little rowdy. After a few minutes of constant chatter, Mrs Bright took it upon herself to welcome us.

“Good evening everyone,” Mrs Bright began, “Welcome to a fairy tale fantasy.”

A few people cheered while someone wolf-whistled loudly.

Mrs Bright, true to her name, turned a bright shade of red before speaking, “I hope you all behave appropriately and enjoy your time at Prom. The dance floor will be open to anyone straight after the Prom Queen has been crowned but first please partake in the meals provided and of course the lovely speeches.”

Sean muttered something under his breath before leaning in closer to my ear and whispered, “She probably is the only one giving a speech.”

Angelica, seated next to Sean must have somehow heard Sean because instantly she scoffed, “Well as student body president, I’m going to give a speech too.”

Juliet’s green eyes narrowed, “I hope they’re serving pea soup.”

Chris glanced at me, his eyes mentally asking ‘code word?’ and I nodded subtly at him but was interrupted by Jessica, “Pea soup is disgusting.”

“Much like someone I know,” Juliet retorted, aiming her gaze at Angelica.

I groaned inwardly. If things continued the way it was, then pretty soon there would no doubt be some shoes flying as Juliet lunged at Angelica. The girl was snobby and there was no denying that Juliet hated her guts more than she disliked Jessica and that was a lot. With a sigh, I turned my attention to the food which was being served by hotel staff and then fixed my attention onto Mrs Bright who had cleared her throat for one of her many speeches.

As I let my eyes wander around the golden, fairy tale themed banquet room, I suddenly found my gaze falling onto Dave. He was grinning at something Amanda was saying to him and I felt my heart lurch. I really didn’t care that Dave was there, heck I found it great that he was enjoying himself after his mother’s accident but the fact that he was with Amanda still wasn’t easy to take. After all, Amanda was my sister and the fact that she and Dave would probably date after this meant that I would have to learn to accept Dave as a friend and swallow down my instinct to kick him where it hurt the most.

My nerves were back all because the moment of Prom Queen had come. Mrs Bright had handed the microphone over to Angelica who seemed almost gleeful at getting a chance to take charge once again. The girl was beautiful with her black hair pinned up into an elegant bun and the deep, mauve dress she wore clung to her body like it was painted on, but her attitude of being better than majority of us still seemed to emanate from her like waves.

“Hi everybody,” she greeted with a grin, “so most of you know by now that it’s time to announce Redwood’s Prom Queen.”

Jessica cast me a look across the table before she sent me thumbs up and smiled. I returned her a smile before turning my attention back to Angelica who had been handed an envelope by Mrs Bright. In that envelope held the winner of Prom Queen and although I wasn’t expecting to win, I couldn’t help but feel nervous as I sat in my seat, staring at the envelope which held the answer to my nerves.

“Our new Prom Queen for Redwood is,” Angelica spoke as she opened the envelope before replying with a grin, “Vivienne Lanter!”

A gasp flew from my lips as Sean urged me to move towards the small podium where Angelica held out a large crown which sparkled under the many fairy lights. I swallowed a lump then cast a quick look towards Juliet who was grinning from ear to ear while she applauded along with everyone in the room. I sucked in a breath before I made my way towards Angelica, feeling all eyes on me.

“Congratulations,” Angelica beamed as she placed the crown on my head then gestured towards the microphone, “it’s customary for Prom Queen to make a speech.”

I nodded then moved behind the microphone and bit my lower lip nervously. My blue eyes moved around the room where every one of Redwood’s senior was looking up at me. They were all waiting for me to make my speech, the nerdy girl who had instantly gone popular after a shady deal with Sean Gregory in the boys’ toilets. After my eyes landed on Sean’s who smiled encouragingly, I let my eyes wander to Jessica’s. Although she was smiling, I noticed the sadness that lingered in her eyes.

Clearing my throat, I began, “Uh, hi everyone.” A few people said ‘hi’ back before I continued, “So thank you for voting for me, I really wasn’t expecting this. But since I’m here and have everyone’s attention…” I glanced back at Jessica who seemed to be trying hard not to look disappointed, “…I would like to say that I can’t accept the crown.”

A few gasps and shocked expressions flashed through the crowds’ faces and I felt Angelica next to me, almost hissing that what I was doing was definitely not allowed. Ignoring her, I spoke again.

“And because I’m declining the crown,” I locked eyes with Jessica, “Jessica Hubert wins by default.”

Jessica’s eyes popped out of her skull and I smiled at her but when it was clear that she wasn’t going to move, I spoke back into the microphone, “So everybody, let’s give a round to Jessica Hubert. Redwood’s true Prom Queen!”

Juliet seemed to catch my eye before getting my silent message and before Jessica could do anything about it, Juliet had pulled her up and pushed her toward the stage where I pulled off the crown and held in in my hands. Jessica finally reached the stage in her elegant black gown and side-swept golden hair and gave me a shocked look. She neared me slowly at first, before she cast a quick look around the different faces.

“What are you doing,” she hissed, “this crown belongs to you.”

I smiled as I placed the crown onto her head before whispering, “You deserve it Jessica.”

“But you won,” Jessica protested.

I turned Jessica to face the crowd that were now applauding for her before replying under my breath, “Your mother would have wanted it.”

After a moment, Jessica surprised me by pulling me into a huge hug before she murmured, “Thank you Vivienne. Honestly, you’re the best.”

Jessica was the first girl to dance at Prom. It was the school custom, the Prom Queen got to lead everyone onto the dance floor and after Angelica had finally given up on trying to make me take the crown back, and Jessica had gotten to dance around with Todd. If this had happened before I could have gone through the whole makeover, then I would have probably yelled that it wasn’t fair that Jessica had won by default; in fact I probably would have snatched the crown from her.

But watching Jessica smiling and looking so happy, I couldn’t help but feel glad that I had declined the title and the crown. After all I wasn’t cut out to be Prom Queen. Sure I may now use makeup and dress more fashionably, but I still was still Vivienne. I got shy around guys and yeah maybe my confidence had gone up a bit and I made my voice heard, but I was still the same girl who wore glasses and studied religiously. I just had style and maybe even a guy to share it with now…

“So,” Sean began, pulling me out of my thoughts, “You want to dance?”

I smiled up at Sean, drinking in his appearance. His hair although was gelled back, still held that sexy messiness he managed to pull off no matter what. His tuxedo complimented his dark hair, the blackness making him look all the more bad boy than he already was. His golden brown eyes were scanning my face, waiting for an answer before they locked back with my eyes and I found my breath hitching.

Not trusting my voice, I nodded instead. Sean pulled me up and led me towards the dance floor which had already begun to get filled by couples around us. The music was slow which meant that everyone was either getting closer or slow dancing. I let my fingers slip onto Sean’s before I followed him to the centre of the dancing couples. Sean smiled a reassuring smile at me before he slipped his arm around my waist and placed the other in my left palm.

I chewed on my lower lip uneasily before glancing around at other couples then whispered, “I really don’t know how to slow dance.”

Sean chuckled slightly before replying, “Put your other hand on my shoulder.”

I reached out and held onto Sean’s shoulder before he began to move around in a slow circle. I really wasn’t sure what to do other than follow Sean’s lead and it seemed to be working because pretty soon my feet had memorised the steps and they moved out of their own accord. I dared to look up at Sean’s face and found him smiling down at me. Instantly my heartbeat picked up speed and my breathing followed suit.

Sean leaned forward until his face was less than a breath away as he spoke, “That was nice of you.”

“Hmm,” I asked.

“What you did for Jessica,” Sean explained, “That was nice.”

I moved my body closer so that it brushed against Sean’s as I replied, “She deserved it more than me.”

Sean pressed his lips lightly against my forehead before whispering, “You’re still a queen in my eyes.”

In that moment, I stood on my tip-toes and leaned forward, pressing my lips against Sean’s. Instantly his lips parted and I felt my mouth filling with his warm breath, warming me from the inside. My body tingled with electricity as I moved my fingers to the nape of his neck before they tangled themselves in his silky hair. Sean’s arms moved down to my lower back as he pulled me in even closer until we were pressed tightly together.

Sean’s tongue slowly entered my mouth and drew slow circles against mine. A soft moan left my throat and it was as though there was no one else in the room, it was just me and Sean. I suddenly pulled away for breath and found my eyes lingering on Sean’s lips before they moved up to his hazel orbs. I could see the slight mischief in his eyes before he leaned closer and brushed his mouth against my ear.

“There’s something I want to show you,” he whispered.

I frowned, before asking, “What?”

He smirked at me and replied bashfully, “It’s a surprise.”

A/N Hey Geeklings :) A sort of long-ish chapter (approx 5500+ words) so hopefully it makes up for last chapter which was dreadfully short. So first things first, I've decided to separate the next chapter so that means that there will be now 3 chapters left and an epilogue. So what did you think of Prom? Was it too rushed and boring or did you find it wonderfully enthralling? Yeah this was a day late for the chapter but then again I only started writing it at four and took breaks in between which involved drinking peach wine, tea and eating cake. Also, I was reading a book while writing so yeah, mulit-tasking. Remember to vote, comment and spread the word!

PS: Remeber to support my new story 'The Bad Boy' if you haven't already, it's on the external link!
