Doors

Every human was created and placed on a world where they were solely meant. A person born in a certain universe was not coincidental, they were exactly where they were meant to be.

Countless different universes coexist, there is universe where you are a doctor, one where you're a soldier, there is even one where you are dead. All these vibrates at a different frequency which is why they cannot see each other.

They are real. Time travel, wormholes, reincarnation, including jumping from one earth to another. However, everything has its consequences.

Every earth vibrates on different frequencies, meaning, jumping on a different earth could disrupt the functions in your body. Some died a gruesome death such as being twisted apart, the others had their limbs cut out.  Only good thing is that, every human is built different.

There is a one in a million chanve for a person to experience this drawback, but those who do, only had one out of ten survival rate.  And Levi Ackerman was one in a million.

But just because he survived, does not exempt him from the fact that he will live a very painful and difficult life.

He knew this, and he chose to stay either way.

Shizue went to Levi's room, the following day. She turned the knob only to find out it was locked.

Her brows knotted before she kicked the door open, she saw him buttoning up his shirt, his expression didn't gave the impression that he almost just died a few hours ago.

Levi let her barge in his room without even knocking. "Why yes, Shizue you can come in."

His expression changed when he finally took notice of her expression as she stood din the doorway.

"Can we talk?" The man nodded, she seemed a bit...pissed.

The atmosphere in the room suddenly became heavy as she tried to find the right words to say. Levi waited patiently for her to speak.

"I know everything."

Levi's brow raised. "Mind telling me what this is about?"

"Your condition. When were you planning to tell me?" She asked furiously. He remained silent. Levi wasn't planning on telling her at all, but it would infuriate her even more if he said that.

"Shizue, it's not big of a deal-"

"Not big of a deal?! You could die!" She yelled fiercely. Truthfully, he didn't give a damn if his presence in this world could lead to his death. As long as he gets to be by her side, nothing mattered to him, even if it were a limited time.

The other members of the squad, who was just right next door was hearing every word Shizue was yelling. It honestly scared them a bit, they knew how intimidating she can be when she's angry. Nonetheless, they continued to eat breakfast while trying to ignore the fight coming from the other room. They also prayed for Levi's survival.

He couldn't lie, now that she knew everything. All he could do was assure her, which wasn't an easy task but it always worked. "Look, I've suffered far worse things than this. I'll be fine."

Okay, that was a lie.

The woman closed her eyes as she sat on the edge of the bead with a heavy sigh escaping her lips, covering her eyes in distress.

"You, and this Shizue...you weren't just comrades were you?" She didn't think twice before uttering those words that it surprised Levi.

She found out. Why was he always so protective of her, those warm yet guilt filled eyes he had every time he looks at her, it all pieced together. Levi knew he couldn't keep this from her anymore, but he didn't understand why she just referred to herself as another person.

"Yes. We were more than that." Levi spoke as he looks at the pink haired sorcerer.

Shizue would be lying if she said she didn't feel the same, but the thing is, this was wrong. She couldn't possibly think this would go any where, and what's more, they were bound to go back at some point.

"Shizue-"

"I know everything, Levi." She cuts him off. Levi felt his chest tighten, but he chose to ignore it. "This shouldn't have happened. This is my fault I shouldn't have involved you in all this-"

"Enough Shizue. This is my decision." Levi said strongly. "I just want you to be safe. Shizue I can't lose you again."

"Don't." Shizue clenched her fists that rests on her lap. "Don't say that...."

"I wanted to blame everyone for what happened to you back then, but it was all my fault." Levi looked directly in her eyes, he didn't care about himself anymore.

"It's my job to prevent anything that could lead you to the same fate as before, Shizue."

"Stop treating me like the Shizue you lost because I'm not her!"  A single tear had escape her eyes, the more this continues on, the more Shizue felt these foreign emotions. As if it weren't hers.

Levi was caught off guard.

He shook his head, Levi kneeled in front of the girl, reaching for her delicate hands. "Shizue,"

"You're right. It is not certain whether you're the Shizue I loved before." Her chest felt torn as she listens to his words, but she accepted it either way. It was for the best. "But I know her better than anyone, and I'm certain I'm looking at her right now."

She felt his grip tighten. That moment, no matter it it hurt, Shizue forced herself to meet his steel grey eyes. "You're still the same person I loved before, Shizue."

She felt so weak, at war with her own emotions.

"This love will eventually kill you." It was too heavy for her to take. Shizue knew she had feelings for the him, but he had done so much for her, she couldn't let him waste his life for someone like her.

"Levi is you stay here any longer your condition will worsen and-"

"I don't care!" Levi could take it anymore. The moment he saw her again he vowed never to make the same mistake to her again.

"I don't care if I drop dead tomorrow. I'm not leaving you."

Shizue gazed solemnly at their hands, she moved as she slowly interlaced them. "I will never let you throw your life away, Levi."

Letting him go was the only option she had. Shizue didn't want to, but she couldn't go on in her life knowing he's suffering just to be with her.

"You can't stay here." Levi could only look at her eyes.

"Is this what you really want?" It took Shizue a minute to respond to that question.

No.

I want you to stay.

Those were the words that spoke in the back of her mind as her eyes met his steel grey orbs. He waited for her answer hoping she'll ask him to stay. Levi didn't care what could happen to him, he only thought of what Shizue really wanted. And whatever she  chose, he will respect it.

Please,

Don't leave me.

"Yes." Shizue looked directly in his eyes as her tears continued to fall down. She didn't want him to see her like this, but Shizue already lost control of her body as she tried to bury her selfish desires within her.

Levi felt sharp pain in chest, he held it in.

He didn't want to leave, but he couldn't take seeing her like this any longer. And if that's what she wants, he'll have to choice but to oblige.

Shizue felt a pair of cold hands cup her cheek as carefully wipes her tears away. His lips was let out a solemn smile which only tried to bring her comfort. "Alright, don't cry anymore."

She couldn't take this any longer. Shizue  abruptly stood up as she tried to make her way out the door when she was suddenly pulled and was enveloped with a tight muscular embrace.

"I want you to know, whether I leave or whether I die and be given another life, my heart will always belong to you, Shizue." The girl let out a quiet sob, and Levi took his one last chance to say what he really felt.

A loud thud erupted in the squad's room as Gojo and Hanji made a grand entrance. "Good news everyone! We finally figured how we're gonna get you back!"

Their eyes widened in surprise and the two were immediately bombarded with multiple questions.

"Really?! We can go back to the island?!"

"Question, can we raid the fridge before we go?"

Reiner deadpanned at the brunette. "That's your question?"

"If you starve in the sea, that's not my problem."

"She's right food is important. But other than that we'll finally get to go home!"

"Well, we're still trying to figure out how we're gonna harness the compass but once we do that, you're good to go." Says Gojo which made them smile in delight.

"I can't believe you guys are leaving." Hanji stated, making everyone turn their attention to them. " Though it was unexpected, I'm really glad I got to see you all again."

Armin smiled softly. "We'll miss you too, Hanji-san."

Connie wrapped his arms around Sasha and Jean, he was just thankful that after everything that happened, the three of them were still together. Mikasa hugged Armin blissfully which the blonde immediately returns.

"Hey, don't you think we should talk to Shizue-san? She did so many things for us, I really think we should thank her." Sasha said.

Pieck agreed. " You're right, hey Hanji-san do you know where she is?"

That question made Gojo and Hanji look at each other in unison. "Wait, you also don't know?"

Hanji frowned at the man. "How should I know I was here with you?"

"Maybe we'll just get her tomorrow." Says Annie, halting another squabble.

As the days had gone by, while Gojo and the others figured out how the cursed object operated, Shizue was sent into more solo missions and buried herself in a dark pit of despair.

Though she hated working, she needed something to distract her from everything.

Getting away from him was the first step.
