The rain poured heavily over the palace, drumming against the grand windows of Prince Sebastianâs chambers. He stood near the fireplace, watching the flames flicker, lost in thought.
Alex, ever composed, stood a few feet away, waiting for orders. His dark uniform was pristine, as always, his expression unreadable.
"Youâre so stiff, Alex," Sebastian mused, swirling the wine in his glass. "Itâs as if youâre made of stone."
"If that were true, My Prince, you would not waste so much effort trying to move me."
Sebastian smirked. Sharp as ever.
He took a slow sip, then suddenly sighed dramatically. "Iâm terribly bored."
"Shall I summon entertainment, My Prince?"
Sebastian tilted his head. "You are entertainment enough."
A flicker of something crossed Alexâs eyes, gone too quickly to be sure.
Sebastian took a step closer. "Tell me, Alex⦠do you ever tire of this game?"
"I do not play games, My Prince."
Sebastian chuckled.
"Liar."
He set his glass down and reached outâonly to pluck the white glove from Alexâs hand. The air between them shifted. For once, Alex did not immediately retrieve it.
"You serve me so well, Alex," Sebastian murmured, twirling the glove between his fingers. "But do you ever wish⦠to do more?"
A pause. Then, as expected, Alex bowed slightly.
"My only wish is to serve, My Prince."
Sebastian leaned in, his breath warm against Alexâs ear. "Then tell meâ¦" he whispered. "Why are your hands shaking?".
Alex immediately straightened, stepping back.
"Forgive me. I should fetch you another glass of wine."
Sebastian watched him retreat toward the door. Heâs slipping, he thought, his smirk returning.
"One more thing, Alex."
Alex stopped but did not turn.
"If you ever do wish for more⦠you need only ask."
A pause. Then, without another word, Alex left the room.
Sebastian exhaled, running a hand through his golden hair.
One day, Alex. One day you will break.
