Getting Him Hooked: Mr. Freemanâs Indifferent Sinner Wife Chapter 905 Father... They would probably never get over this.
âLyla, about this...â
Before Olivia could finish speaking, Lyla suddenly shouted toward the door, âItâs Daddy!â
Olivia looked around and saw John walk in.
Lyla wanted to run toward him, but Olivia pulled her back. âLyla, heâs not your father. Donât call him that.â
Johnâs eyes flickered with loneliness as he paused.
âBut I saw him when I was video-calling you, Mommy.â
âItâs not him.â
However, Lyla did not believe her. She looked at John with a stern little face. âThen why was he in the video? Besides, my nose looks like his nose, so he must be my father.â
Olivia was annoyed. âLyla, why wonât you listen? I told you heâs not him because...â
She glanced up at John coldly and said through clenched teeth. âYour fatherâs dead.â
Lyla burst into tears, âMommy, I want a father. I donât want to be a child with no father. When I was at kindergarten, the others made fun of me for not having a father. Someone even said that youâre a homewrecker and thatâs why I donât have a father.â
Oliviaâs heart sank as she glanced at John and hugged Lyla again.
âDonât listen to those people. Theyâre talking nonsense.â
âBut why donât I have a father when everyone else does?â
She did, but her biological father rejected her and called her a bastard four years ago.
She could not allow the same thing to happen again.
Since John refused to acknowledge the child four years ago, he did not deserve Lyla.
Besides, she was Phoebe now, not Olivia.
What did John have to do with Phoebeâs daughter?
She wanted Zac to pretend, but now that her relationship with Zac was in such a state, it was unsuitable to do so.
Just as Olivia was wondering what to do, Sam wiped Lylaâs tears and said gently, âLyla, not only do I not have a father, but I also donât have a mother. If Godmother hadnât kindly taken me in, Iâd still be on the streets.
âBut Lyla, look. Youâve got a mother, an uncle, me, and Mr. Lucas. Youâve got a lot.
âNot everyone can have everything. You donât understand the adult world yet. Stop making a fuss. Youâll upset your mother.â
Sam was unclear about the past, but he did know that Olivia did not want to acknowledge John.
If they kept this up, things would get ugly.
Ken also pushed John at this time. âHurry, say something.â
John thought Olivia would acknowledge him when Lyla said so.
Unexpectedly, Olivia was so determined.
It seemed that there was still a long way to go.
John stepped forward, leaned over, and rubbed Lylaâs soft hair. âSorry, Iâm only your motherâs friend.â
With tears still hanging from her long lashes, Lyla looked at him doubtfully.â Uncle, are you really not my father?â
The question made him sad.
He glanced up at Olivia only to get a nasty glare. He could only say with a nod, âYeah, Iâm not.â
âDo you know my father, then?â
He shook his head. âI donât know him, but I believe your father isnât a good man, or he wouldnât have left an adorable girl like you behind.â
Lyla bit her lips aggrievedly. âReally?â
âYeah, really.â
John felt tightness in his chest.
He thought he would not care much about his daughter before meeting Lyla. However, he realized how lovely the little girl was after meeting her in person.
She was so adorable that he could not bear to lie to her.
