Chapter 844 Olivia paused and looked at the man at the dining table. He was glowing and did not look like he had just suffered a fever.
âNo thanks.â
âIâm on my way to the hospital anyway. Itâs not out of my way, so why refuse me? Hmm?â
Olivia did not want to argue with him, but John had already got up and walked over to her, handing her a sandwich.
âMrs. Simmons makes delicious sandwiches. Take it with you. You can eat it when youâre hungry later.â
âHave you recovered so soon?â
John smiled. âMaybe itâs because you were with me, so I recovered quickly. My fever is gone in the morning, and I have a good appetite. It doesnât affect me at all.*
Olivia only found the man weird. Who could have a fever of 39 degrees Celsius in the middle of the night and be so energetic the next day?
However, she did not bother to argue with him, so she followed him into his car.
âJohn, I donât want to forgive you, nor do I intend to believe you. I hope you understand.â
John changed his attitude and said with a nod, âYeah, I know. I wonât force it. Youâll see whoâs telling the truth in the future.â
Olivia turned to look out of the window. She grabbed her phone and called Ken.
âWhere are you? Kateâs illness is getting worse. She needs someone to sign the papers, so do that if youâre at the hospital and donât miss the emergency deadline. Iâm on my way.â
âIâm at home.â
Kenâs voice was a little indifferent. âYour presence is all they need.â
âKen, how long are you going to be at odds with her? Sheâs your sister. Are you sure you donât care if she dies?â
Oliviaâs tone was harsh with a hint of a reprimand. âThatâs enough. Youâll regret it if you keep this up.â
âWhy are you suddenly defending her?â
âBecause I saw the change in her and what she is. You know very well that sheâs not bad. Stop being stubborn, will you? She needs your support.â
Ken did not buy it. âWhy are you suddenly okay with her scolding Zyla? Have you forgotten Zyla?â
Sometimes Olivia thought Ken had a one-track mind.
However, unable to tell Kateâs secret, she could only bite her lip. âKen, youâre a grown man. Even if you dislike her, donât forget youâre the only family she has in Ocean City. She needs you. Arenât you afraid youâll regret it if she doesnât make it today?â
Then she hung up without waiting for Ken to speak.
She had no idea why Ken was so stubborn and unkind to Kate.
After all, they were brother and sister. Even if they were not biological siblings, they grew up together. No matter how wrong she was, what could be more important than human life?
âIf you treat me like that, wonât you be sorry when I d ie one day?â
The man beside her suddenly looked at her and said out of the blue.
Olivia frowned. âI donât think what I said applies to you.â
âOlivia, youâre so cruel.â
Olivia sneered. âItâs not that Iâm cruel, John. You always survive. If youâd die easily, youâd die six years ago. but you didnât. You were fine six years ago, and you were fine four years ago. Youâre still fine now. Will you die?â
Her remark made John feel a tightness in his chest.
Everything she said was familiar. It was similar to what he had said four years earlier.
She was mad at him.
âDid you sign the divorce papers?â
Oliviaâs expression immediately changed. âHow do you know about that? Didnât you pass out yesterday?â
John turned to look at her. âOlivia, Iâm not a robot. How can I be eavesdropping when I have a 39 degrees Celsius fever? You carelessly left the divorce papers on the bed. I found them when I woke up this morning.â
With that said, he looked blankly at her and asked, âSo when are you going to sign them? Hmm?â
