Chapter 688 Jennie did not talk to Olivia again after that day, and the two seemed to have had a fallout.
However, every day when Ken came over for dinner, Olivia reminded him.
If he saw Jennie, remember to tell her and not hurt Jennie.
However, Ken gave the same answer every time, âI will still tell you the same thing even if we do it again. Iâm Zylaâs for the rest of my life. I wonât look at any woman, even if sheâs your friend.â
She could not say anything more, so she could only change the subject.
Today, Ken suddenly said, âI saw Jennie today.â
âHow is she? Is she okay?â
âSheâs well.â Ken glanced at Olivia and lectured, âOlivia, where on earth did you make such an annoying friend? I wanted to scold her, but my upbringing taught me not to yell at women, otherwise...â
Zac gave him a look. He rolled his eyes and changed his tone helplessly, saying, âAnyway, I said no again. I hope sheâll get back to normal soon.â
Ken had seen many women who went after him, but this was the first time he had seen someone like her.
He had only one word to describe her. âBothersomeâ!
Some people never seemed to know decency. They always did the most inappropriate thing at the most inappropriate time.
What could be the proper response but disgust?
âLiv, donât overthink it. Letâs leave it alone. Let them be.â
Olivia put down her cutlery and sighed. âIâm scared someone will use her. If Dorothy and the rest find out about this, sheâll get hurt.â
âLiv, will you stop being so nice?â
Ken was irritated to see her this way. âIf she goes against you with Dorothy and the rest because of this, sheâs betraying you.
âYouâre worried about her life after she betrayed you? You have only one life. Your brother and your daughter need your protection. Are you going to abandon them?â
âKen!â
Zac shouted. âYouâre going out of line!â
âIâm out of line, but Iâm only being honest after what happened these days.
Iâm afraid she will harm Liv!â
Zac agreed with that remark.
They knew very well that Olivia was soft-spoken and kind. Otherwise, she would not have led that ungrateful Dorothy home.
Besides, she liked to think for others. Even if Jennie betrayed her, she probably would not blame her.
âLiv, Kenâs words are harsh, but you know heâs worried youâd get fooled.â
Olivia bit her lip, glanced at them, and nodded. âI know.â
With that said, she forced a smile. âDonât worry. After what happened four years ago, am I still that stupid and naive?â
She picked up a rib for Ken. âHurry and eat. Mrs. Simmons will scold US if we donât finish dinner.â
As she spoke, she got Zac another piece. âEat more. You can only protect me when you recover.â
The two knew they could not persuade her, so they could only hang their head low and dig in.
At night, Olivia lay in bed after her bath, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Suddenly, the phone vibrated.
Mr. M: [Ms. James, we havenât spoken for a long time. How are you?]
Olivia was dumbfounded for a moment before remembering who it was, and she could not help feeling delighted.
Olivia: [Iâm fine. How are you, Sir?]
Olivia: [Are you not planning to return to Murica?]
Olivia: [Why do you ask?]
Mr. M: [I happen to see you selling your houses and am worried that you lack money.
Thatâs why I asked.]
âSelling my houses?*
Puzzled, Olivia replied, âIâm not selling my houses.â
Mr. M: [The two units you used to live in and the atelier are being sold. What happened?]
