Chapter 686 Elegance Gardens.
Olivia got up from her afternoon nap and walked out the door just in time to see Jennie walking out of the study. She ran after her and called her.
âJennie, stop right there!â
Jennie ran for two steps. Knowing she would have to face her sooner or later, she stopped and turned to look at her. âIâm here for your husband, not you.â
âWhatâs with that attitude?â
âIâll treat you the way you treat me. Itâs fair and reasonable.â
Olivia ran and pulled her into the garden. âCome here.â
âLet me go.â
âAre you getting Zac to ask Ken out for you?â
Jennie shook her hand off. âSo what if I am? If you want to know what Iâm doing here, ask your husband.â
Olivia felt some tightness in her heart and looked at the familiar yet strange woman in confusion.
âHow did we turn out like this?â
âYou did this to US, not me.â
Olivia took a deep breath and sat down in a nearby chair. âI know youâre angry and think I broke you and Ken up, but I swear I didnât stop Ken from getting in touch with you. I only told him to figure out if he liked you and not to waste each otherâs time.â
Jennie jerked her head around and looked at her coldly. âSo youâre telling me it has nothing to do with you? Didnât you tell Ken to keep his distance from me?â
âJennie, Iâm curious. What is it about just one meeting that makes you so obsessed?â
Olivia looked straight at her. âDonât take me for a fool. Weâre adults. No one falls in love with just one look. You should have a reason.â
Jennie averted her eyes from meeting Oliviaâs. âCanât it be love at first sight?â
âI didnât say you canât, but I find it pathetic if love at first sight can make you ignore three years of friendship.â
She knew not everyone would be like Zyla, but she had no idea that her friendship with Jennie would turn out this way because of Ken.
Their friendship was so fragile.
Olivia let out a sigh. âJennie, we all have our secrets, and thatâs normal. But you shouldnât be a hypocrite. I didnât tell you many things because Iâm afraid youâll get caught up in the middle of this chaos.â
With that said, she paused. âDo you know how Zyla died?â
When she mentioned Zyla, Jennieâs expression changed dramatically, and she swept all the water glasses off the table.
âDonât you talk to me about that woman. You keep mentioning a woman who has been dead for four years. Iâm here alive and well. Have any of you cared about me? You...â
âBecause Zyla died in my arms!â
Olivia got up, widened her eyes as she looked at her, and roared, âShe died protecting me. She held on to tell me to protect myself even after being stabbed multiple times...â
Tears welled up in Oliviaâs eyes as she clenched her teeth. âShe died thinking about protecting me!â
Jennie had never seen Olivia like this before and took a step back in shock.
âDo you know how many strikes she had taken from me?â
Jennie shook her head blankly.
Oliviaâs eyes reddened as she said hatefully through clenched teeth, âThey say when someone takes a strike for you, you should pay with your life. But she took more than one strike for me and ended up giving away her life for me...â
She took a deep breath, swallowed, and wiped her tears with her hand. âSo why canât I mention her?â
