Chapter 565 âLiv.â
Just when Olivia thought that her phone call would not go through again, she heard a familiar voice on the other end of the line.
âFred, are you and Lyla... okay?â
âYes.â
1 It was evident that the person on the other end was still upset.
âSorry...â Olivia pursed her lips and lifted her face up with her palm. âI know Iâm at fault for doing something like this, but... I had no other choice, or you wouldnât leave.â
There was no response from the other end of the line.
âHowâs Lyla? Has she gotten used to living there?â
âJust about.â
âDonât be angry, Fred, please? I really miss you two. When itâs all over, I promise you, Iâll come for you two.â
There was still no response on the other end of the call.
Olivia sighed as she sat down dejected. âFred, did you really think I wouldnât know that you spiked my juice?â
As soon as she said that, she could clearly hear heavier breathing sounds from the other end of the phone.
After a while, Fred asked in surprise, âYou knew?â
âYeah, I knew. I knew it all along.â Olivia smiled. âYou and Zac are the same type of people. You always think about me and would do anything to prevent me from doing something stupid.â
âNow you know those were stupid acts? Then, why would you...â
âFred, you think that it was stupid, but itâs not like that for me. These are all things that I needed to do. It was like this four years ago, and itâs the same now.â
Then, she chuckled as she answered his question. âWeâve won our first battle. Did you see the news?â
âYeah. I saw that. Thatâs why I picked up your call. Lyla was angry with you as well. She had to yell at you a few times a day.â
âWhat did she say?â
âShe said that you were a liar and you failed to keep your promises. She threw the teddy bear that you gifted her back into the box and said she never wanted to see it ever again.â
Olivia felt a slight urge to cry. She looked up into the starry night. âSheâll forgive me.â
âJust talk to her yourself when youâre free, okay? Sheâs fast asleep right now.â
âOkay.â
Even though thinking about Lyla made Oliviaâs heart heavy, hearing Fredâs voice made her breathe a sigh of relief.
At least they were safe. She made the right decision.
âTake care of her for me, Fred.â
âOkay.â
Then, after a few casual chats, Fred hung up because he said he was tired.
Actually, Olivia knew that he was not tired and was just saying so to express his silent anger.
What she did not regret was that every time they got angry for just a while, they would soon recover.
Perhaps the phone call with Fred gave Olivia the closure she needed since it sobered her up quickly.
However, when her mind was clear, she thought of someone.
[Mr. M, we won the case today. Pitt had the other party painfully defeated, and it was absolutely amazing. Itâs a shame you werenât there.]
[I saw it.]
Olivia was stunned and was quick to ask: [Were you present, Sir?]
[No, but I got Wade to livestream it for me. You were beautiful today.]
[Thank you so much, Mr. M! If it was not for you, we wouldnât have been able to win today.]
[No worries. Itâs no big deal.]
After thinking for a while, Olivia asked carefully: [Sir, Iâd like to buy you a meal as a token of appreciation. May I?]
Previously, when she asked, Mr. M told him that he would decide later.
That had caused her to be a little nervous, afraid that she would be rejected once again.
However, Mr. Mâs reply came quickly. [Okay, Iâll get Wade to pick you up at 5 oâclock in the evening tomorrow.]
Olivia stared at the message for a while and felt quite nervous. At the same time, she was very emotional.
Was tomorrow going to be the day she finally saw Mr. Mâs face?
Would he really be an old man? How old would he be? She would find out tomorrow!
