Chapter 475 John knew it was a sarcastic remark.
However, John did not plan to ask further.
After all, according to what he knew about Olivia, she would not push him off the sofa in the middle of the night.
He got up from the floor, patted his clothes, and asked, âDid I do anything inappropriate last night?â
âMr. Freeman, you can leave now since youâre awake.â
Not wanting to quarrel with him any longer, Olivia got up from the sofa, went straight to the door, and opened it.
âPlease leave.â
âMs. James, I apologize for doing anything inappropriate last night.â
Presumably, because of the hangover, Johnâs voice was hoarse, making him sound sexy.
âApologize?â Olivia sneered. âDo you think an apology is enough after you hurt someone?â
âI was drunk last night...â
âForget it.â
Olivia did not want to listen to his so-called explanation and stopped him. âSince you donât want to leave, Iâll leave.â
She slammed the door and quickly walked into the elevator, pressing the âcloseâ button.
However, just as the elevator doors were about to close, a pair of slender hands blocked it.
John opened the door and entered the elevator. He stood before the door, blocking Oliviaâs way out.
âMs. James, I hope to solve the misunderstanding head-on. Escaping...â
Before he could finish, the elevator suddenly shook, and he reminded Olivia quickly, âHold on to the handrail.â
However, the elevator swung again before Olivia could react, and the lights went out.
Olivia was afraid of the dark, especially in such a dark, confined space, and her body began to tremble. She reached out and tried to grasp the handrail, but perhaps it was because her body was so stiff that she could not find it.
âAre you alright?
âY-yes.â
Olivia did not want to show her weak side before him, so she clenched her teeth and endured it.
However, her voice was trembling, and John could hear it.
He followed the sound, reached out, and grabbed her hand. Then, he comforted her. âItâs okay. Iâm here.â
However, the elevator shook and fell again after he said that.
Olivia could hear the grinding of the iron cables at the top of the elevator. Her legs felt weak, and she lost her balance and fell.
John noticed her abnormality and wanted to protect her in his embrace.
The elevator suddenly stopped, and the huge force made John lose his balance.
To avoid hurting Olivia, he had to shield her in his arms while he fell heavily to the ground.
âAhh!â
Already afraid of the dark and the elevator so rickety, Olivia was scared out of her wits and forgot to put on her disguise.
Her thin body shrunk in Johnâs arms as she held tight onto his neck, resting her head on his right arm.
After a jolt, the elevator finally stopped.
John could feel the woman in his arms relying on him, and he smiled.
He reached out and touched Oliviaâs head. âItâs okay. Donât be afraid.â
Olivia snapped out of her fear and wanted to sit up. However, she had accidentally pressed Johnâs right arm, making him hiss in pain.
âAre you hurt?â
Then, she fumbled all over his body.
John grabbed her hand and said, âItâs okay. You sit on the side, and Iâll keep holding you.â Olivia froze for a moment and leaned aside without shoving off his hand.
However, the claustrophobic space made her lose her breath, and soon, she was covered in a cold sweat.
Suddenly, John sat on the ground and said gently, âClose your eyes. Imagine the clear sky. You are lying on the grass, smelling the faint grassy smell. You can see the shadows of the trees around you...â
