Chapter 383 âZyla, give me a chance to explain, okay?â
Ken tried to approach her and explain, but Zyla took the fruit knife and placed it on her wrist. She clenched her teeth and shouted, âGet lost! Come here again, and Iâll cut my wrist.â
âZy!â
Terrified, Olivia grabbed the knife and waved her hand at Ken. âKen, leave now. Letâs talk about it when her mood is stable.â
Ken had no choice but to hang his head and walk out with confusion and a worried look on his face. After everyone had gone, Olivia put the knife in the farthest place she could from Zyla. Then, she held Zylaâs hand. âZy, you promised me you wonât do something silly again.â
Zyla looked at Olivia in aggrieve, buried her head in her knees, and cried.
Olivia was relieved only when Zylaâs emotion was stable. She tugged the blanket and placed a glass of water by Zylaâs bed.
âZy,â Olivia took a deep breath and licked her lips nervously. After a while, she did not ask what she wanted to do.
Zyla noticed Oliviaâs hesitation. âSis Liv, ask what you want to ask. Iâm fine. Just now...â
She hung her head and rested her hand on her forehead. âI was impulsive.â
Olivia frowned slightly. âZy, you... you donât actually hate Ken, do you?â
The room was silent except for the sound of the cold wind blowing through the treetops.
Olivia was afraid she had said something which affected Zylaâs mood. She quickly said, âZy, Iâm sorry.
Iâm...â
âIt doesnât matter,â Zyla suppressed her emotion. âYou are right. I donât hate him.â
Zyla covered her face, and Olivia could not see her expression. However, she could hear Zylaâs whimper.
After a long time, Zyla wiped off her tears and lifted her head to see Olivia as she smiled. âAt first, I hated him because I thought he was Johnâs lackey. I thought he was bad.
âThen, I suddenly realized that he wasnât so annoying.
âLast night, after he dragged me away, we were standing on the patio, drinking.
âI turned my head to look at him, and at that moment, I suddenly felt that he was very handsome, like a shining star in the night.â
Zyla smiled when she spoke, but tears flowed down her cheeks.
She sniffed, paused, bit her lip, and continued to force a smile. âLater, he apologized to me for what happened during the day and kept explaining.
âI donât know whatâs wrong with me. My heart is beating fast. When the cold wind blows, I can feel my cheeks burning.â
She took a long breath and tried to prevent her tears from flowing. âBut, Sis Liv...â
âThere is no way we can get together after this happened.â
Although Olivia noticed the romantic tension between Ken and Zyla, this was the first time she heard Zyla admitting it.
However, something like that happened.
Olivia felt sorry for them, and at the same time, she blamed herself for it. She clenched her fists but tried to comfort Zyla. âZy, this is not your fault. You are still you, and both of you...â
However, Zyla interrupted her before she could finish.
âSis Liv, Iâm still me to you, but Iâm not me to him anymore.â
She went to the window and looked out into the cold winter night as she said with a bitter smile on her face. âBesides, heâs not what he used to be, is he?â
Zyla had that night with another man, and Ken had that night with another woman.
How could they ever go back to the way they were?
Even if she had feelings for Ken, she was now not fit to dream about being with him...
