After closing the door to Ivan’s room, she walked into the living room and said regretfully to Maximilian, “Mr. Wolfe, I thought you wouldn’t let the beauty down.”

Evelyn leaned closer to Maximilian and whispered in his ear, “No, I didn’t.”

She didn’t fancy Maximilian, but for his perfect hands, she didn’t want him to be stained by a woman like Karen.
