Chapter 435 Seeking Justice for Her Son âCan you specify the parts where he made significant blunders?â Cecelia pressed.
âSorry, this is the internal information on our selection. We canât share it with you,â Petunia refused with an excuse.
âArenât fairness, impartiality, and openness the spirit of this competition? Why canât you share it with me?â Cecelia contradicted on just grounds.
Petunia felt embarrassed and simply said, âWell, if you want to ask for a reason, Iâm telling you I gave him the lowest score!â
âThe fluency of the No. 23 player was fine, but he was very poor in the other parts, so I couldnât give him a high score. Satisfied?â
âMiss Taylor, I seriously doubt the accuracy of your judgment and your understanding of music,â
Cecelia mocked.
Petuniaâs face instantly turned dark. She stood up to confront Cecelia.
âMadam, donât try to make a fuss just because your childâs score is low?â Petunia said loudly on purpose.
Then, the viewers who were leaving the venue were attracted and stopped to look.
Many people wanted to know the result of the argument, so they returned to their seats to watch the fun.
âWeâre all professional judges. Our ratings are the most just and professional. Your child must be lacking in skill. You should look within yourselves. Is it suitable to ask the judges for a high score?â
Petunia reprimanded Cecelia in the tone of a professional judge.
Cecelia was not afraid of being humiliated. She said, âIâm not asking you for a high score. I just doubt the fairness of your rating! If you have a problem with me, you can take it out on me. Thereâs no need to involve my child! As for my sonâs performance, the whole venue has watched it. They have ears, and they can tell. Why is his score ridiculously low? Is there anything fishy in this?â
Cecelia stared at Petunia, coldly and fiercely. Didnât she know what intention Petunia was harboring?
This must be her trick!
âAre you doubting my professional ability?â
Petunia started arguing with her. Cecelia sneered, âDo you have the ability? If you did, you wouldnât have blindly given a score like that!â
âIt sounds like youâre so professional! Today, on this very stage, I will make you surrender and admit defeat!â Petunia said indignantly. Then she said to the audience through her microphone, âParents, teachers, and all the viewers, now a mother doubts my professional ability because of her childâs low score. She wants to challenge me, and I agree to compete with her here and show her my ability.â
The competition between Petunia and Cecelia should have happened at the dinner party on the Bowman Groupâs cruise ship, but it had been delayed because of various reasons.
Today was a perfect opportunity. Petunia would make Cecelia feel humiliated!
Now in the private room on the second floor, the Nelsons and Shawns were also watching. Remington clearly knew Petunia did this on purpose.
She wanted to compete with his wife Cece? She was humiliating herself!
The audience all craned their necks. No one expected that this mother could be so brave she dared to challenge the professional judge of this competition!
There was fun to watch now. Everyone was waiting! They were waiting for them to compete, but Cecelia was silent.
When she walked past her, Petunia asked with a smile, âAre you afraid, Miss Linsey?â
âNot at all.â Cecelia said calmly, âIf you want to compete, letâs do the most difficult one. Show all youâve learned in this life.â
âThis is your request. When youâre humiliated, donât blame me for not showing you respect.â
Petunia hit Ceceliaâs shoulder with hers and went straight to the piano on the stage.
The childrenâs competition had ended. This was just a minor incident, but the audience was more interested. After all, this was a battle between a parent and a judge.
All the people wanted to see the final result. They wanted to know if the mother could successfully get justice.
When the competition started, Cecelia asked Everest to bring Andres here.
Andres came to her from the side and glanced up at her. Cecelia gave her son an encouraging look and held his little hand.
They would listen to the performance together.
Petunia began to play. In order to show off all her skills, she picked a very difficult piece called Paganiniâs Exercise No.3 â The Bell by Niccolò Paganini.
Flowing rhythms soon ran out from between her dancing fingers. Her performance was truly outstanding. She was very skillful, and her emotional control was perfect.
All the other judges nodded repeatedly to show their approval.
And those who knew nothing about piano music were also enjoying it. Indeed, the performance was perfect from beginning to end.
When the music ended, the viewers at the venue all applauded.
Petunia stood up and bowed to them. Then she looked at Cecelia standing in the audience and said through her microphone, âThe mother of the No. 23 player, itâs your turn!â
The viewers all wanted to know if the mother could play the piano.
How could she dare to compete with the judge?
If she couldnât play, she would lose face, wouldnât she?
Cecelia also got a microphone. She said to Petunia directly, âThereâs no need for me to show. My son will compete with you!â
Petunia widened her eyes in disbelief. âYou must be joking! This is a competition between us adults.
compete with me? What are you trying to do? If you canât play the piano, just admit defeat!â
âI wonât admit defeat. If you donât dare to compete with my son, youâre not qualified to compete with me.
I must let everyone know my son can play the piano just as well as you!â
âWhat a bold statement! Remember, this is your request. If your son loses, donât blame me for taking advantage of his young age.â
Cecelia ignored her. Holding her sonâs little hand, she took him to the stage and put him on the piano stool.
âGive it your all, son! Youâre the best!â
Cecelia kissed her sonâs face and stepped aside.
A ray of light slanted down on the piano. For the second time tonight, Andres was in the spotlight. His little hands landed on the keys and began to move flexibly.
The music started to reverberate. Soon, some realized that the child was playing the piece the judge had just played.
Surprisingly, he played it so well!
A five-year-old could play such a difficult piece? That was amazing!
In fact, what outsiders didnât know was that Andres had rare musical talent hidden within himself.
He had not experienced professional training, but if the music was what he had heard or what he had watched someone play, he could memorize every detail and play it.
After quietly hearing Petunia play the piece, he could play it.
The audience watched the child confidently playing the piano. After hearing the melodious rhythms, every one of them would think, How come such a talented child got the lowest score in this competition?
Although the piece was difficult, but Andres could play it without making any mistakes. Realizing that, Petunia couldnât laugh anymore.
She stared at Andres, her eyes filled with confusion. It was widely known that this little boy of the Nelson family was unsociable and knew nothing. But how could he play the piece she had just played?
This was not what a boy at his age could do!
When the last note ended, the little boy withdrew his hands and stood up to bow. Once again, the audience gave him the most enthusiastic applause.
This was the encouraging and appreciative applause for the uncrowned king!
When the applause had quieted down, Cecelia looked at Petunia and asked, âWhat do you think of my sonâs performance, Ms. Taylor?â
