Chapter 42 Mr. Nelson broke the rules again

“Miss Linsey didn’t let me follow her, asking me to come home first.” Remington was speechless. “She went to date a man. Of course, she didn’t let you follow her. Next time, you must follow her and find out who she is dating.”

“Yes, sir!”

“Now leave!”

Remington pummeled the bed in depression. Although this was just a contract marriage, he didn’t want to be a c uckold.

This woman didn’t know what shame was, but he thought about helping her!

Bentley was heading for Jinger County.

Jinger County was on the outskirts of the Center City. It was a quaint little town that was not far away.

About an hour later, they reached their destination.

Cecelia was to look for Ida Williams on this trip. Ida had used to be the personal maid of her mother Leila Done. Leila married into the Linsey family and introduced a husband to Ida, who then married into Jinger County.

When Leila got sick, Ida came back to attend to her until the latter passed away. Therefore, in order to find out what her mother had suffered from before she died, she had to visit Ida.

Referring to the family address Ida had provided back then, they came along the bluestone walkway to her home.

Verda knocked on the door, but no one came to open it. Then he tried to push the door, and the door instantly opened.

“I think there’re people in the house. Let’s go in and check it out!”

Cecelia went in with Verda.

“Is someone here? Aunt Ida, are you at home?” Cecelia asked while walking.

She walked through the front yard and came to the main hall. “Aunt Ida, Aunt Ida? It seems there’s no one at home.”

When she was about to leave, she heard some noise coming from the room. She and Verda immediately went over, walking into the room. Seeing the scene there, Cecelia screamed in horror,

Verda was also terrified. They had not expected that Ida, whom they were looking for, was now lying in a pool of blood on the floor in the

room.

She was not dead yet, looking in the direction of the door with her eyes open. The noise they had just heard was made by her by slapping the blood on the floor.

“Aunt Ida! Aunt Ida…”

Cecelia held Ida’s hand, lowered her head, and leaned close to her, hoping to hear her words.

“Leave the city… leave the city…”

Ida did not finish the complete sentence, but had consumed all her energy, her head down to the side.

“Aunt Ida! League the sea? Aunt Ida!”

Ida then died, died in Cecelia’s arms.

Seeing that she died but kept her eyes open, Cecelia felt so grieved. What did Aunt Ida want to tell her at her last moment?

It seemed that someone knew she was coming to visit Ida and then killed her before she came. Did they kill her to cover something up? Verda had begun investigating the scene. He found that Aunt Ida had died of a sharp weapon. There was an obvious cut on the back of her neck, and all the blood was from there.

By observing the signs of her death, they could deduce that the murderer might have arrived here a few or a dozen minutes earlier than them.

But they didn’t see any fingerprints or footprints, and the door and windows were all intact. That is to say, Ida had not fought the murderer.

Cecelia looked up at the comer. The man was wearing a casual khaki suit with dashing eyebrows and bright eyes, looking resolute. On his chest, there was an officer’s ID card.

He was from a wealthy family, but he had stubbornly taken the police test and become a criminal police officer. Yes, he was a freak among the children from rich families.

“Captain Shawn, I came here to look for Aunt Ida, my mother’s maid hack then but I found her dead at home” Cecelia explained in grief.

Roger went in with the forensic expert, and the other police officers. cordoned the place off, beginning to investigate the scene.

After a while, Roger came out with a serious face. As a matter of routine, he had to take statements from them. He asked, “I’ve asked the forensic expert to examine the dead. Was the dead already dead when you arrived?”

“No. She still had her last breath.”

“Did she say anything or give you any clues?”

“She said something like “League the sea”, but I didn’t hear it clearly. After she died, I found a broken photo in her palm.”

Cecelia handed the photo with blood stains to Roger. After examining it, Roger asked, “Who’s the girl in the photo?”

“It’s my mother! At her young age.”

“It’s strange. Why did she have to grab your mother’s childhood photo before she died?” Roger asked with confusion.

With all the questions that should be asked having been asked, Cecelia then said, “Captain Shawn, no matter what, I hope you and your team can find the murderer, giving justice to Aunt Ida.

Cecelia left the crime scene with Verda.

Fortunately, they had asked Roger for help. If they had called another police officer, they might have been taken as murder suspects.

Back from Jinger County, Cecelia didn’t go to the Nelsons’ house, but asked Verda to take her to the Peace Mountain Funeral Parlor.

Ida’s death made her feel uneasy, so she had to find everything out as soon as possible.
