In the face of the sudden situation, Verda had to turn the steering wheel to the right sharply.

Cecelia, in the back seat, tilted suddenly. She quickly grabbed onto the handrest to steady herself.

The accident had become inevitable.

After the collision, their car crashed into the right–side guardrail. Due to its high speed, the other car flipped over and skidded on the ground for several meters before stopping.

After the intense collision, there was a brief silence inside the car. Both Verda and Cecelia had fallen into unconsciousness due to the accident.

Meanwhile, outside the hotel entrance, Petunia and Maggie had already gotten into their car. Both of them witnessed the accident happening.

“Yes.”

Remington glanced at Verda on the stretcher, his head covered in blood, clearly indicating the collision’s severity.

“Are you injured too?”

“I’m fine! We need to find out the cause of the accident!”

Cecelia had a scrape on her forehead, but compared to Verda’s injuries, hers seemed insignificant.

Cecelia held her daughter close, her mind still reeling from the recent accident. If Verda hadn’t reacted quickly, they might not have survived the crash.

Remington let his mother care for Doris at the Nelson family’s estate. He then helped Cecelia tend to her wounds.

He carefully treated her minor injuries and asked, “Luckily, they’re only minor cuts on the surface. Do you feel anything else?”

“No, I’m fine. I need to go to the hospital to check on Verda.”

“Alright, I’ll go with you.”

The two of them immediately headed to the hospital. They entered the emergency room and saw Fredric waiting outside.

“How’s he doing?” Remington asked.

“He’s already been taken in for emergency treatment,” Fredric told them.

For now, all they could do was wait.

After waiting for over an hour, the emergency surgery was finally completed. Cecelia was the first to rush over when they saw the doctor coming out.

“Doctor, how is the patient doing now?”

“Why are you all here? Who got into an accident?”

Shepard walked closer and greeted everyone with nods.

“We had an accident just now. My subordinate, Verda, was seriously injured and had surgery.”

“Did you get injured too?” Shepard noticed the wound on Cecelia’s forehead.

“Just a minor cut.”

Shepard looked serious. “You’d better get checked out to rule out the risk of concussion.”

Cecelia felt it might not be necessary, but Shepard and Remington advised her to do so. “Just have a check–up to put our minds at ease. I’ll go with you.”

And so Cecelia got an X–ray done as well. After Shepard examined the results and confirmed that her brain was fine, everyone felt relieved.

Remington received a call and said, “Cece, they’ve found out some information over there. I need to go take a look.

“Okay! Go ahead!”

Cecelia stayed with Shepard while Remington left the hospital.
