Midoriya POV

When I wake up, I'm temporarily disoriented by my surroundings. I glance over to find Kacchan sleeping next to me. Wait... I'm still a virgin, right?

I recall the events of yesterday, how he we almost... I turn red just remembering it. But he was so kind and understanding when I stopped him.

I remember waking up in the middle of the night and him saying he loved me. He sounded half-asleep. Did he mean it? I hope so, because when I said it back, I meant it with my whole heart.

I feel him stir next to me.

"Hi," I whisper.

"Hey," he says sleepily.

I smile a little. He's cute when he just wakes up. Standing up, I search for some clothes.

"Where're you going?" he mumbles.

I end up at his closet because I don't want to put my uniform back on. "I forgot to tell you, but Ochaco and Tokoyami-kun convinced Aizawa-sensei to let us have a Halloween school dance, and the class is making posters today."

"Shit, seriously?" he pinches the bridge of his nose. "Today?"

"Yeah... um, can I borrow some clothes?"

"Sure. Where are we making the posters?"

"Oh..." I pull on a black hoodie with a skull face on it and grey sweatpants. "Let me check my phone." I read the message from Ochaco on the Class 1-A (minus Mineta) group chat. "We're going over to Mina's house. Apparently she has lots of paint and stuff like that."

"Couldn't Ponytail just make the posters?" he grumbles and gets up from the bed.

"I guess, but's its not as fun that way!" I try to look on the bright side. "You don't have to come, if you don't want to."

He pulls on a black v-neck sweater and maroon-coloured sweatpants. "Nah, I'll go."

"Really? Great!" I exclaim. He's been a little bit more social with our class lately, and it's really nice. He's still pretty blunt towards them, though.

"What time do we have to be there?"

"10:30am. It's 9:45 now."

"We have time to get coffee. Lets go."

"Okay!"

We leave his house and walk to the nearby Starbucks. In line, I pull out my phone. "I'll just check if Ochaco wants anything."

"You know we'll end up buying twenty fucking drinks if you do tha—"

"Oops. You're right." I hold up my phone to show him a load of requests from our classmates.

"Why'd you send it to the group chat?"

"If it's a problem, I'll pay for them."

"No. It's fine," he sighs.

We rattle off the long list of drinks to the cashier — eighteen drinks in all, since Tsuyu didn't want anything and Mineta wasn't invited. I can't blame them for not inviting him. He shouldn't be such a creep if he wants to get to hang out with us.

We leave Starbucks, awkwardly balancing trays of hot drinks in our arms.

"Fucking lucky Racoon Eyes lives around here," he grunts.

"She does?"

"Yeah, her and Kirishima are just the next suburb."

"Oh. Let's go before we're late!"

"We're going to the dance together." He says it more like a statement than a question.

"Yay!"

"Stop being so damn cute," he growls.

I blush and almost drop the coffees.

We arrive at Mina's door just on time. Kacchan uses his foot to knock on the door since his arms are laden with drinks.

The pink haired girl flings open the door. "Guys, they're here! They brung us drinks!"

"Yeah, and you'd better fucking help us carry them," Kacchan snaps, while kicking off his shoes.

"Alright, Mister Grumpy!" she takes two trays from him and carries them into the house; we follow behind.

"Bakubro! Midobro!" Kirishima waves from his seat on the floor. His spiky hair is pushed back with a bandana. "Did you guys come together?"

"Yeah," I wave at him.

Paper, paint tubes, brushes, pots of glitter and sequins, and stickers are strewn all over the floor. I find a patch of floor to sit on with Kacchan. Mina sets the drinks on the low coffee table.

"Have you started yet?" I ask.

"No, we're still waiting for—"

"Hey guys!" Kaminari strides into the room, clutching Shinso's arm. "Look who I brought!"

"Hi..." Shinso lifts a hand up to the back of his neck a little awkwardly.

"Oh, I didn't get you a coffee!" I exclaim. "Do you want me to go get someth—"

"It's okay, I've had four cups at home today." He idly plays with the string of his Mindless Self Indulgence hoodie.

Kirishima's eyes almost bug out of his head. "Four cups? Already? That's manly, bro."

Shinso shrugs and sits down on the other side of the room with Kaminari. "I don't sleep very well, so it keeps me awake."

"Hey, Mido!" Kaminari calls. "That doesn't really look like your usual style of shirt!"

I laugh nervously. "Uh..."

"It's mine," Kacchan says flatly.

"Ooh," Kaminari gasps in mock-horror. "Scandalous."

"Shut it, Dunce-face."

The yellow-haired boy smirks. "Sure." He pulls out his phone with a charging cord attached and puts the end in his mouth. "Can we start making the posters yet?" he asks, voice a little mumbled from talking around the wire.

"Denki, there's literally a power point on the wall there," Mina points out. Kaminari just shrugs. "Anyway, we're still waiting for Todoroki-kun."

"Just start without him," Kacchan grumbles.

"That's not very fair! You wouldn't like it if we started without you!" Ochaco points out.

"I wouldn't fucking care."

"Language!" Iida orders.

"That's true. Bakugo wouldn't care, kero."

Just then, Todoroki walks into the room. "Hello."

"Hi!" everyone greets him.

He sits on the other side of me and reaches for his coffee. "Thank you for this, Midoriya."

"No problem," I beam.

"Okay! Now that everyone's here — sans Mineta — let's get started!" Mina cheers.

"Sign my petition to replace Mineta with Toshi!" Kaminari chimes in.

"I'll sign, kero," Tsuyu jokes.

Tokoyami picks up a pink pot of glitter. "You cannot have these bright colours on a poster commemorating such a sacred night."

"What?! Pink is the best!" Ochaco argues.

"Yes, sis!" Mina agrees.

"Not for Halloween!"

"Bird brain has a point," Kacchan cuts in. "Halloween is black, orange, and purple. Skulls, spiders, ghosts."

"Citrouilles," Aoyama adds.

"That means pumpkins," Mina translates for us. "I'm beginning to learn French the more I hang out with you, Yuga!"

"Alright, pass me a brush!" Kirishima cheers. "These posters will be the best."

Mina tosses him a wide paintbrush and he catches it midair.

We get to work painting glossy papers with the aforementioned colours and designs. They actually look quite frightening by the time we finish. Shinso is a surprisingly good artist, and he uses the thinnest brushes to add delicate spiderweb designs in the corners of the posters.

I lift up the flyer I made — we're making little ones to slip into lockers — and admire my work.

"That looks good, Midoriya," Todoroki compliments.

"Thanks!"

Kacchan interrupts, holding up his own poster. "Mine's better than yours, Icyhot."

Todoroki meets him with an even gaze. "If that's what you need to tell yourself."

"What the fu—"

"Hey, please don't fight, guys!" I cut in. "They're both good."

The two of them glower at each other for a minute before Kacchan snubs him. "Bastard ain't worth my time," he mutters. He stands up abruptly and storms in the direction of the bathroom.

Oh no, is he mad at me? I bite my lip worriedly.

"Don't worry about him," Todoroki says to me quietly.

"Um, thanks... but he's my boyfriend. I kind of have to worry about him." I tuck my hands into my— well, actually, Kacchan's — hoodie.

"That's right, your boyfriend," he mutters to himself. He goes quiet and brooding.

Todoroki is so difficult to read. Compared to him, Kacchan is like an open book — he'll say anything he's thinking, even when it's unpleasant.

"Guys, Midobro is muttering again," Kirishima says.

"Whoops. Sorry," I apologise sheepishly.

Kacchan returns from the bathroom and sits down next to Kaminari. I'm hurt. He must be mad at me for something. I watch as he paints another poster and talks in a low voice to Kaminari.

Kaminari's eyes widen and he glances over to me.

What are they talking about?

Todoroki leans over to me and whispers in my ear something I don't catch.

I turn my head to speak into his ear. "What?"

"Are you going to the dance?" he repeats.

"Yeah. Why are we whispering?"

"I don't know," he says in a normal voice.

I laugh half-heartedly. "Are you going?"

"I suppose so. Who are you going with?"

"Kacchan, of course?" I'm surprised by his asking, and it comes out like a question.

"Hmm. What is your costume?"

"I actually haven't decided yet," I admit. "What about you?"

"A vampire."

"Cool. Edward!" I joke.

He stares at me blankly. "Pardon?"

"Um... it's from Twilight."

"I haven't seen that."

"You're not missing out," I laugh.

"You'll have to watch it with me one time," he suggests.

"Uh, sure... Hey, Ochaco, what are you going as for Halloween?"

"I thought you'd never ask! I'm being a super-cute witch! Have you decided yet?"

"Not yet!"

"I'm going as a sexy devil!" Kaminari adds.

Shinso arches an eyebrow. "I'll be there to see that."

"You don't have to wait till Halloween to see me looking sexy, Toshi," the blonde flirts.

"Get a room," Kacchan growls.

"Nah, we like an audience," retorts Kaminari. "Anyway, what are you going as, Toshi?"

"A skeleton. I've been practising my SFX makeup skills."

"What about you, Bakubaku?"

"A werewolf. And don't call me that dumb name."

"I'll be dressing up as Mary Shelley's Frankenstein!" Iida adds.

Mina sighs. "Not much to go as when you're pink... I was thinking of going as an alien."

"But aren't you already an alien, kero?"

"Like, a dressed up version."

"Yaomomo and I are going as Lydia and Beetlejuice," Jiro says. "Respectively."

"A couple costume! That's so cute!" Ochaco squeals.

"I am going as an angel of darkness," Tokoyami states gravely.

"I wanted him to be the Whybie to my Coraline, kero," Tsuyu croaks, "but he said it wouldn't work with his head."

"You're being the holy light angel to my angel of darkness, instead," says Tokoyami.

"Yes, I am, kero."

"Ooh, can I steal your Coraline idea?" Hagakure asks.

"Girl, I thought you were going as Violet Incredible!" Mina exclaims.

"Coraline is better! Can I, Tsuyu-chan?"

"Okay, kero."

"I'll be a ghost!" I decide suddenly.

"Hey, that's cool!" Ochaco says. "I'm surprised no one's done that!"

"Oh my gosh, I should've done that!" Hagakure cries.

Sero adds, "I'm going as an Egyptian mummy!"

"And I shall go as the true king of you all!" Aoyama says grandly. "My crown will be trés twinkly!"

"I'm gonna be Little Red Riot Hood!" Kirishima shouts excitedly.

"Your costume will match with Bakugo's werewolf," Todoroki states.

"Oh, but Bakubro's going with Midobro!" Kirishima turns to Kacchan, concerned. "Sorry, man, I can change my idea—"

"We're not going together so it's fine," Kacchan cuts him off. Realising that he might sound too nice, he adds, "Shitty hair."

"We should get Aizawa-sensei to go as a cat!" Ochaco cries.

"As if he'd do it," Kaminari snorts.

"He might!" she argues.

"He won't even bother coming to the dance!" Kaminari protests. "Aren't I right, Toshi?"

Shinso nods begrudgingly.

"Shinso..." Todoroki starts.

"Uh oh," Tsuyu ribbits under her breath. "Here we go, kero..."

"Yes?" Shinso replies.

"Don't answer him, kero, he's going to ask for your entire family tree."

"Hear me out. Are you by any chance Aizawa-sensei's secret love child?"

Shinso makes a noise that sounds like a spray bottle on crack. "What?! How did you even get that idea?"

"Well..."

"Run before he pulls out the PowerPoint presentation!" Kaminari jokes.

Everyone laughs.

"He thought that I was Hawks' secret love child," Tokoyami adds.

"If Hawks is actually your dad, take me to meet him. He's soooo hot," Hagakure sighs dreamily.

"He thought I was Kermit's love child, kero."

"Next you'll be saying Kaminari is Pikachu's son," Kirishima jokes.

"Bastard said I was Gordon Ramsay's fucking love child," Kacchan rolls his eyes.

"I can actually see that..." Ochaco stage-whispers.

"Just give it up, Todobro!" Kirishima urges.

"I've connected the dots!" he protests.

"You didn't connect shit, man," Kaminari snorts.

"Denki is right. I'm not related to Aizawa," Shinso says.

"Hey, Toshi, wanna change your costume to be an angel to go with my devil?" Kaminari pleads randomly.

"No."

"Aw. Please?"

"No."

"Jesus," Kacchan snaps. "Could you two go fuck already?"

"I mean, if you insist—" Kaminari raises his eyebrows at Shinso. "Come on." He stands up and walks in the direction of the bathroom, beckoning for Shinso to follow.

"Wait, I was fucking kidding!" Kacchan yells.

Kaminari sits back down and pouts, earning a handful of laughs.

"Later," Shinso says to Kaminari.

"Oh. My. God," Kacchan shakes his head at them.

When the posters and flyers are deemed "awesome", we pack up and leave. I walk home with Kacchan.

We stroll in silence. The annoying anxious voice in the back of my head keeps nagging at me until I finally speak. "Um. Are you made at me?"

"What? Where'd you get that dumb idea from?"

"Uh..." I pull the drawstrings of the hoodie tighter. "Well, after I talked to Todoroki-kun, you were really, um, glare-y at me, and you moved to sit away from me..."

"I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at that stupid Icyhot."

"Why?" I ask.

"You're so oblivious," he mutters. Sighing, he elaborates. "He's still obsessed with you."

Is he? Really? "Oh... you're jealous?"

"Of course I am!" he snaps. "He's such a perfect pretty-boy, and he's fucking rich. I have every right to be jealous!"

I reach up a hand and tug on his shoulder gently. "D-don't be jealous, Kacchan," I gaze up at him through my lashes.

His tense shoulders relax a little. "Sorry. I'm being an ass."

"Y-you know you're the only one I love," I say quietly.

"Love you too."

"So... you do? Love me?" I check. I wasn't sure if he knew that he said it last night.

"Yeah, why else would I say it?"

"Just checking," I chuckle.

He smiles at me softly. "You're funny sometimes."

I look at him questioningly.

"Like... when you get all shy... it's cute to watch..." he mumbles, the tips of his ears turning pink.

"Are you actually blushing?" I tease.

"Shut up," he mutters indignantly.

"Kacchan's blushing! Call the news reporters!"

"I hate you," he growls.

"I love you, too."

"Say it again."

Why? "I love you?" It comes out like a question.

"Again."

"I love you."

"One more time."

"Kacchan, stop," I whine. "You're just growing your ego."

He smirks. "Maybe I am."

"You're so self-obsessed." I roll my eyes. "You love to hear praise about yourself."

"Then don't you want to make me happy?"

I can't resist his playful eyes. "Love you, Kacchan."

"Love you too."
