Bakugo POV

My plan was to confess to him tonight. But how can I now? I fucking messed up.

I was trying to tell him he was more than a stupid nerd to me. It was supposed to be the lead-up to my confession of liking him. But I made him cry. And he just wanted to be friends.

I'm so fucking stupid for thinking he might actually like me back.

Finally, we arrive back at the camp, me carrying him still. I've balled my hands into fists so tight that my nails have embedded marks into my palms. I really want to smash something to pieces.

"Thanks for carrying me, Kacchan," he says softly in my ear.

Fuck. Why do I have to like him? I'm going to scream if I don't get away from him. It's driving me crazy.

I drop him off to the teacher's lodging so that Recovery Girl can tend to his ankle.

Storming away, I go behind the brick building of the showering block to gather my thoughts alone.

"ARGH!" I shout, slamming my fist into the brick wall. It does nothing except hurt my hand. "Fuck this!" I punch the wall again, and again, and again.

I'm angry. I'm angry at everything. I'm angry at Deku for just being Deku; I'm angry at the ground, and the sky, and the air. But most of all, I'm angry at myself, for being such an asshole.

My knuckles are bloodied and purple, and I realise that tears have spilled out from my eyes, staining my cheeks.

I'm... crying?

"Kacchan?"

Damn.

I turn away from the wall to see Deku behind me.

"Leave me alone," I mumble, wiping my nose with the back of my hand.

"What's wrong?" he asks, worry etched onto his features.

The sky has darkened, leading us into dusk. A faint yellow glow emanates from the showering block. The first few stars of the night dot the sky.

Deku's eyes reflect these very stars, ringed by circles of beautiful, glassy emerald.

I have to tell him.

"Kacchan?" he asks again. "Oh! You're bleeding!" He takes my beat-up hands in his own, caressing them gently. "What happened?"

I manage a weak gesture at the wall.

He makes the connection easily. "W-why? Why are you hurting yourself?"

I try to form words, but my voice cracks, and I stumble forward. He catches me in his arms and wordlessly pulls me into a hug. I bury my nose in his soft viridescent hair.

He... he smells nice... and clean...

"Kacchan," he whispers into my shoulder.

"Yes?" I murmur.

"I have to t-tell you something..." he pulls away from me, hands on my shoulders.

"I do, too."

"W-well, you first..."

I step back from him, clench my fists, exhale. Run my hands through my hair. How do I do this?

"Deku," I start. "I..." Oh my god. Why is this so hard? "I need you to know... What I want to say is..." I'm making so many false starts. "Ah, fuck." I turn away from him.

"Kacchan, you can just say whatever it is," he tells me.

I whirl around to face him. "I fucking like you, okay?! It's driving me insane!" I all but yell. "That's why I kissed you at the sports festival! I don't expect you to return my shitty feelings! I just had to get it off my chest!"

He stares at me. He's turned red from the base of his neck to the very tips of his ears.

I grit my teeth. "Fucking say what you were gonna say before."

"Kacchan," he grabs my wrist and pulls me closer to him. "What I said I needed to tell you... was that I... I like you, too."

My heart bangs against my ribcage like a war drum. "H-huh?"

"I like you, Kacchan," he repeats.

I inhale sharply. I'm at loss for words, something that never happens.

"And you... like me?" he bites his lip.

I manage a nod of confirmation.

"S-so, what does this mean for us?"

I need to get my shit together. Form some words. I blink away my muted stupor and wrap my arm around Deku's waist.

"It means you're mine, Deku."

He gazes up at me with those stunning emerald orbs. "I-I'm yours, Kacchan," he murmurs.

I tilt his chin towards me and lower my face so that our foreheads are touching, then our noses... and then, finally, our lips collide.

Every clichéd line I've ever read about kisses being like fireworks, or stars, or whatever, cannot even begin to describe what I'm feeling right now. It feels so right, my lips locked on Deku's, our arms intertwined around each other.

I pull my face back a few centimetres. His eyes fly open, and he opens his mouth to speak, but I cut him off with another kiss, this one just as sweet as the former.

He breaks the kiss and grins at me from ear to ear. "You're a good kisser."

"I know. I'm good at everything," I smirk.

He rolls his eyes, but he's smiling. We start walking back to the main area of the camp.

"How's your ankle, by the way?" I ask.

"Good! Recovery Girl healed it... but I'm really tired now."

I startle when I feel him slip his fingers into my hand.

"O-oh, sorry," he apologises and goes to pull his hand away.

"No," I squeeze his fingers tightly. "I... I'm just not used to it... yet."

"Well, you'll have to get used to it, then," he smiles, "because I'm a very affectionate person."

I knock him lightly on the forehead with my knuckles. "No kidding, nerd. You've been practically climbing onto me."

"Oh, really?" He crosses his arms jokingly. "Because if I remember correctly, you're the one who kissed me first, and more than once."

I make a clicking sound with my tongue.

"You should probably get your hands looked at," he tells me.

"Eh, they're okay," I brush it off.

"No, Kacchan," he says emphatically. "Get them bandaged, at least."

"Do you think you get to order me around now that we're dating?!" I snap.

"So, we're dating?"

"Not if you're always gonna tell me what to do!"

"Are we fighting? I feel like we're fighting."

"We're always fighting!"

"Kacchan, that's not how dating works."

"Well, fuck you," I fire back. Then my shoulders sink. "Um... sorry," I mumble. "U-unfuck you."

"It's okay," he says easily. "We'll just have to work on getting along better."

I nod soberly.

"Let's try it again. Kacchan, please get your hands checked on."

I clench my teeth.

He gives me a stern look. "Kacchan."

I throw up my arms. "Fine!"

He smiles, satisfied. "Good boy."

"Did you just talk to me like I'm a dog?"

"Oops."

"Kinky," I smirk.

He turns beet red. "Sh-shush! Go get your hands fixed, now!"

"Okay, okay. I'm fucking going."

Izuku POV

I'm sitting next to Uraraka at the bench, eating my rice for dinner. I can barely keep the smile off my face. Kacchan likes me. We're together.

"Oh, hey, Bakugo!" Kirishima calls as Kacchan saunters over the the table and takes a seat on my other side. "What took you so long?"

Kacchan holds up his hands, which are meticulously wrapped in white bandages. "Had to see Recovery Girl."

"Wow, now you look like Midoriya," Kaminari comments.

"Hey!" I protest. "I haven't hurt myself for ages!"

"That's true!" Uraraka cheers. "You used your quirk without breaking any bones the other day on the river race!"

"Are you serious, kero? Midoriya, you sprained your ankle and had to be carried back to camp just a few hours ago," Tsuyu cuts in.

I open my mouth to object, then close it. With everything happening between Kacchan and me, I forgot about that...

"You did?" Kaminari asks. "How did I miss that?"

"Probably because you were busy texting your boyfriend," Jirou says flatly.

"Hey, Hitoshi and I are just friends. He's not my boyfriend!"

"Yet," Kirishima says emphatically. "Not yet, my man."

Kaminari's cheeks are dusted pink. "Okay, subject change, please."

"Ooh, I have a game for us all to play!" Mina cuts in. "Tonight, everyone come to the girls dorm. It will be really fun!"

"What is it?"

"Not telling you!"

I'm about to say that I'll be there but the words dry up in my mouth when I feel Kacchan's hand on my leg. I barely manage to avoid jumping fifty feet into the air as he traces tiny circles on my thigh.

Ochaco turns to me. "It's such a shame that class B won the rock climbing, isn't it?"

"Nngh... y-yeah," I stutter, distracted by Kacchan's touch. I glance over to him; he's eating his meal normally, but a tiny smirk plays at the corner of his mouth. I'm positive he know's what he's doing to me.

"I thought we'd win for sure, since there are so many tough guys in our class!" she continues, oblivious.

"U-uh, guess n-not," I manage. Think about normal stuff, I will myself. Think unsexy thoughts. Grandma's meatloaf. The gum under my school desk...

Okay, enough. I dart out my foot sideways in an attempt to thwart Kacchan's teasing, but I accidentally kick his shin.

"Oh my gosh! Sorry."

"Fuck, that hurt!" he rubs his shin.

I bite my lip. He's moved his hand now. "Sorry..." I stand up abruptly.

"Hey, where're you going?" Mina asks.

"I'll be around for the game later," I reassure her before walking quickly to the boy's bunker.

Inside, I sink down to sit on my bed and rest my head in my hands. This dating thing... I have no idea how to act. It feels like we were enemies just this morning and now... we're dating? Isn't there supposed to be some kind of lead up to this? Like going out with each other on dates, first? I'm just... so confused.

I feel the matress shift as someone sits next to me.

"What happened back there?"

I look up at the sound of the deep voice to see Kacchan next to me.

"S-sorry..."

"Jesus, stop apologising for everything. What's wrong?"

I take a shaky breath. "I don't really know, umm, how to date you?"

He purses his lips and I'm worried that I've offended him. But then he says, "Me too. I think we're rushing into this headfirst."

I nod. "We should... slow it down, a bit? I mean, we both like each other, but we still don't get along very well..."

He laughs a little at that. "Yeah, you can say that again."

"Well..."

"So..."

"I guess," I start to say, but he cuts in.

"I'll date you properly, Deku," he says with such fierce conviction that I want to kiss him right now. "I'll take you out, and when we're both ready, we can be a couple. Alright?"

"Okay," I agree.

"We'll take it slow," he adds. "Promise." Holding out his hand to me, he extends his pinky finger.

His hands are calloused from training, while mine are scarred from using One For All.

I smile and lock my little finger with his. "Promise."
