Chapter 52 : "I've never met him before."
***********************************************
I laugh at little eight year old me freaking out over the brand new concert tickets I got for my birthday.
"Quick question," my cousin Audrey said, "isn't the video supposed to be you receiving a Christmas gift?"
"What, because it's Christmas?" I replied, chuckling.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what she meant." Mom answered and I laughed.
"Well, who cares! I look cute either ways." I said.
I'd love to receive concert tickets as gifts every Christmas, but for some reason, I don't. Sad really.
"You look gross, there's cheese literally dripping down your mouth." Audrey said and I gasped.
"That's whipped cream from my birthday cake!" I exclaimed and dad walked in with the desert, laughing.
"Dad, did you really have to play this video, out of everything else?" I sighed.
"Oh no worries, Audrey's part shall appear at some point." Dad answered and I got excited as Audrey asked him what part.
We all gazed at the screen and saw Audrey walking in from the kitchen with a plate of cake in her left hand as she twirled her hair around her fingers with her right one.
"Didn't you just have cake?" Audrey's mom, who's my aunt, calls from somewhere behind the camera.
"I need more cake mommy, I'm not on a diet like you." Audrey replied and we all laughed as the video stopped there and my aunt gasped.
"I'm assuming that's the part where you murdered her." I said to my aunt, laughing.
"I think so too." She replied, glaring at Audrey who just laughed.
I checked my phone when I received a text, and smiled when I found out it's from Aaron.
My family indulged in another conversation as I checked what the text says.
*Merry Christmas Oreo, i want to give you your present face to face so when can i come see you?*
My heart lit up as I read the text over and over again. I truly thought he didn't get me anything when I didn't find his present this morning, but this just makes it better because I will actually get to see him.
*now would be fine* I texted Aaron back. I truly don't know if I'll find a better time today and I just want to see what he got me, and see him.
About fifteen minutes later, Aaron texted me saying that he was outside my house, and I told him it'd be best if he walks ahead a little bit and I'll follow him. Knowing my family, if they see Aaron and I exchanging gifts in front of the house, they'll make a scene.
I made up a silly excuse to my parents, put on some warm clothes and left the house. I saw Aaron down the street and instantly, I smiled upon seeing him, as I headed towards him.
"Hey!" I grinned, and Aaron smiled at me, holding two wrapped items in his arms.
"How are you?" Aaron replied.
It's crazy how much my mood drastically becomes a lot better the second I see Aaron. It's not that I was in a bad mood in the first place, but Aaron just makes it all even better.
"Good." I said and Aaron nodded his head.
"I spent Christmas with mom this time." Aaron said and I raised my eyebrows, both surprised and pleased.
"For real?"
"Yeah, she's been changing." Aaron said, but he didn't seem very happy about that.
"That's a good thing, yeah?" I tried.
"Maybe, but on the other side, that can also show that she's really sick, to the point where she's caring about us again in a way." Aaron said and my heart sank at that possibility.
What would happen if she's terribly sick? That is scary.
I nodded my head silently not knowing what to say and Aaron shook his head.
"Anyways," He said, smiling again, "start with this one."
He handed me the bigger item and I grinned as we sat down on the sidewalk.
I teared the wrapping apart, enjoying that because it's satisfying to me for some reason.
"I didn't know you had a skill at wrapping presents." I told Aaron and he shrugged.
"I try."
Immediately, I gasped at the amazing sight of two books and a makeup palette. Both of which I've been gushing over recently.
The street was empty so I pretty much felt comfortable squealing and hugging the books.
I looked at the makeup palette. "How did you know!" I said, referring to the exact palette I've been wanting, all with excitement filling me as I grinned.
"I asked Rose and Laurel." Aaron replied in a smile and I squealed yet again.
"Awwww, Aaron, this is so amazing!" I exclaimed, smelling the books.
Aaron gave me a weird look.
"Books smell great and I'll fight you on that." I said and Aaron nodded silently.
I didn't know what to say at this point, I felt genuinely happy and excited though.
"I feel bad now because what I bought you is boring compared to this." I whined and Aaron laughed.
"Stop Oreo, I loved it, look." Aaron said, unzipping his jacket, and I gasped in happiness when I saw him wearing the hoodie I bought him.
I just don't know what guys like and what gifts to buy them. Aaron wears hoodies all the time, so I figured why not.
I still feel like I should've gotten him something better, now that I saw his gift for me. Whatever.
"Do you really like it?" I smiled, a blush creeping up on my face all of the sudden.
Snap out of it Ellie, no one blushes in this cold weather!
"I love it Oreo, I love anything from you." Aaron said and we stared into each other's eyes quietly.
Normally, too much eye contact makes me feel awkward. With Aaron though, it makes me feel safe. And happy. And helps me forget about everything around me.
The sound of my book falling from my lap and hitting the floor snapped Aaron and I from our trance and Aaron laughed as I picked it up and hugged it close to me, in apology.
"I feel like this will excite you more." Aaron said, handling me another wrapped item, only a lot smaller than the first. I'd almost forgotten about it but now, I'm super excited.
I grinned quietly yet again, and furrowed my brows in curiosity when I found a small red box with a cute white ribbon on top of it.
"Jesus, Aaron, don't propose to me, we're still too young!" I tried saying something funny and Aaron laughed, rolling his eyes.
I chuckled and opened the box.
I never thought something I was wishing I'd get this morning would come to me like that. God is really taking the time to listen to my prayers.
At first, I couldn't comprehend what was happening, and Aaron was starting to record my reaction.
I gasped, not believing what I'm seeing. A piece of paper that will make my entire life better.
I held up a concert ticket. For Ed Sheeran.
I didn't make a sound as I started crying immediately and Aaron gasped.
"You're crying!" He said in shock, the camera's flashlight hitting my face.
"I've never met him before." I whined, tears literally streaming down my face.
"Aw, Oreo." Aaron whispered quietly and I turned to look at him.
"Thank you." I smiled and went in for a hug.
Aaron laughed as he put his phone away and wrapped his arms around my back.
I held him there, for a good thirty seconds. Best thirty seconds of my life, thank you.
When I pulled back, I wiped my tears away and that's when my squealing self came back to life.
"I can't believe I'm seeing him in a couple of weeks, oh my god!!" I said, carefully placing the ticket back in the cute box.
"Mason and I are going with you." Aaron grinned at me and I squealed more.
Oh my god, I'm going to an Ed Sheeran concert with Aaron! That's like the perfect place that he could propose to me at.
"Thank you, Aaron, I have no words." I said and Aaron grinned.
"I don't need words, I'm pleased enough that you're this happy, that's what matters." Aaron said and I felt like crying again.
"I've probably never been happier." I replied and meant it. I don't even know what I was doing with my life before Aaron.
I want to hug him again. For endless hours. And kiss him. But I can't and that is so frustrating.
"Are you cold?" Aaron asked me suddenly and I shook my head.
You make me feel warm, and content. God, I want to kiss you so badly.
"I'm very warm right now." I said and hoped Aaron would understand that being with him, makes me feel protected and fucking warm.
Aaron nodded his head, staring at my eyes. We seem to be doing that alot lately.
I don't want to leave Aaron, I want to spend the rest of the day with him, and sneak my way into hugging him again because whenever I place my head on his chest, and he rests his chin on my head, I feel happiness in a way I never have before.
Sadly though, I had to go back home a couple minutes later. I did get to hug Aaron again as a goodbye. It was brief, but a brief hug from Aaron equals the world.
