Chapter 30 : I'm a bubble of nervousness ready to explode.

"Okay, we'll talk about it later, what's wrong with you!!" I say into the call as I try to rub my arms in hopes the goosebumps would disappear.
It's starting to get chilly outside, and I forgot my jacket since I'm running late per usual.
"What do you mean later? You're gonna promise me to delete it now!" Rose exclaimed and then muttered a 'Sorry.' to whoever I assume she accidentally stumbled onto.
I gritted my teeth. "Jesus Rose, fine!!" I exasperated as I eventually had enough of her whining.
"Okay, bye!!" Rose's voice came out cheerful. Oh, so now she's happy.
I shook my head. Couldn't she wait until I catch up with her next class, when I'm over the super late situation, to ask me to delete the selfie I posted of her and I? According to her, something looks wrong with her cheekbones.
She looks perfect but okay.
I finally arrive to my locker and pretty much start stuffing random notebooks in my bag. I'm too late to comprehend what I actually need. I don't even know what class I have right now, I'm too focused on being hectic as hell to remember.
I wasn't aware that anyone was approaching since class started a while ago up until a hand brushed on my shoulder, startling me.
I turned around as I accidentally dropped my notebook and bent down to pick it up, only to be met with Brad.
Now's not your time, please, I'm so late.
"Good morning." Brad smiled warmly at me and I couldn't help but notice his blue eyes lightning up.
Brad isn't exactly my type, but with a smile and eyes like his, he can be a good charmer.
"Morning." I smiled back even though I'm a bubble of nervousness ready to explode. I'm really late.
Doesn't he have class too?
"How's everything?" He continued, even making himself comfortable as he leaned on the locker next to mine.
"Um, everything's fine, thank you." I replied quickly, glancing around at the empty hallway.
"I'm sorry, I know you have class, I was just wondering what the English assignment was about." Brad said, putting down his backpack.
This boy really doesn't plan to leave anytime soon.
I glance at the time on my phone anxiously. Fuck fuck fuck.
"The assignment isn't due till Thursday.." I reply. He literally has three more days to ask me about whatever he wants, why is he so persistent on doing that now?
"Oh I know, but I haven't started on it yet, and I probably should." He responded, pushing his hair out of his face. It needs a little trim.
Or maybe it doesn't but he's just pissing me off, yeah, could be that.
Why the hell hasn't he started yet? Why me? Couldn't he wait until lunch?
"Well, to be honest, I don't know if you'll have enough time to read a book and its sequel in three days." I replied, chuckling. I feel sorry for him. I've been reading it for two weeks, and if it weren't for the fact that I love books, I wouldn't have made it.
I procrastinate alot, okay?
Brad's eyes nearly popped out of his head, "Holy shit, I had no idea!"
"You were there in class though.." My voice trailed off. I'm pretty sure he was and I remember him borrowing a pencil of mine specifically since he never gave it back.
"Oh yeah, I must have forgotten.." Brad replied, finally pulling his backpack over his shoulder again, maybe this means he's finally leaving me the hell alone.
"Okay..." I said, really awkwardly.
I'm not even going to bother worrying anymore, I'm super late at this point anyways.
"Maybe you can help me with it at lunch?" Brad asked, grinning at me.
Lunch is twenty five minutes. I worked super hard on the assignment, and I don't even know how am I supposed to help someone finish a book. Most importantly, I don't want to. I'm late.
"Sure!!" I smiled back at Brad.
Despite the fact that I don't want to, I have this urge to please people and completely forget about myself.
I always promise myself to work hard on saying no when I want to, but nothing ever changes.
"Thank you Ellie! I'll see you at lunch then?" Brad asked, finally making a move to walk away.
"Yeah." I replied smiling, but the second I turned around, I nearly pulled my hair out in rage and started speed walking.
Aaron is going to kill me. I just missed twenty minutes of physics class.
I don't understand why some teachers can't just kick you out of class instead of embarrassing you only to make you attend it.
I literally apologized multiple times and told our teacher the real reason this time.
I slept in late and was stopped by someone outside class. I got called a liar. Aaron was laughing in the corner. Pretty fun.
What a shitty way to start this damn day.
The entire day, I spent my time overthinking my trying to help even though I don't want to situation with Brad.
Maybe if it were someone else, they'd forget about it. But not me.
It's gonna be awkward and I won't know how to help him or what to say, I wish I made some excuse.
Actually, I wish I could've straight up told him I need to get to class and avoided that entire stupid conversation.
I don't have anything against him but I don't like him either, after today.
I have a feeling he's lying anyways, I don't know if he just wants the answers or whatever but it really pissed me off.
Which is sad since I can do absolutely nothing about it.
Ugh, my life sucks.
When lunch rolled by, I thought I could totally avoid Brad but he did make it to our table and casually took a seat next to me as he greeted everyone.
I ended up summarizing some parts of the first book to him and he said he'd finish the next one on his own which I could literally care less about.
The moment he left, everyone was calling me stupid.
"You don't have to help him with something that you've been working on for two weeks, it's not your job!" Laurel narrowed her eyes at me.
"Yeah.. but like, maybe he has something going on and couldn't finish it, I don't know.." I replied nervously.
I think they're getting pretty mad at how he randomly joined us, wasted my lunch time, and was the reason I got yelled at in the morning.
I obviously told them the second I saw each of them in our classes.
"Stop being too nice!" Steve said, looking me in the eye sternly, all seriousness and stuff.
Rose rolled her eyes, "Don't waste your time y'all, I've been trying to make her believe not everyone deserves her kindness since third grade."
"That's not true, we weren't that close in third grade!" I shrugged my shoulders just as the bell rang and lunch was over.
"Don't change the subject." Joey said, smiling sarcastically in my way.
"People will start taking advantage of you." Aaron stated from next to me.
They kept lecturing me for the rest of the day.
I get that they're saying all that for me, but I already know that and unfortunately can't help it.
It was finally time to leave this hellhole. As I began walking, Aaron suddenly popped out of nowhere, like he always does, and grabbed my hand, which made a sudden rush of electricity ignite within my body the second he touched me. Weird.
I opened my mouth but before I could get out a word, Aaron had already pulled me away to his car as he said, "No talking, just walk."
We got to Aaron's car and he waited for me to get in as he let go of my hand and the goosebumps from the cold returned.
I just stood confused looking between him and the car.
"Get in!" Aaron exclaimed, opening the passenger door for me.
"Um, what's wrong with you?" I asked as I pushed my hair to the left side, a habit of mine.
Aaron didn't say anything as he just glared at me.
"Okay, okay!!" I muttered as I got in and waited for him to turn around and get in too.
"Seriously!" I said the second Aaron sat in the car.
Aaron didn't respond as he stared his car and drove off.
I swear to god, I will never understand this guy.
"What's going on!!" I said in a loud voice, making Aaron laugh.
"I'm just driving you home, chill!" Aaron glanced at me from the corner of his eyes as he wore his beautiful smile.
"Really?" I pulled my eyebrows together, in question.
I really don't understand why he all of the sudden decided on that.
"Yes, really." Aaron replied, making a turn.
"Okay...wait really??" I asked again.
Aaron just sighed.
"You're Aaron, I don't believe you, there has to be some prank going on." I explained, glancing around, waiting for the prank to be performed on me.
Aaron just laughed again as he said, "I just thought I could drive you home since you're tired today, you don't need to always walk and your house isn't far away."
I grinned happily, "Awww Aaron, wait," I then started squealing like an idiot, "Thank you so much, damn no one has ever even noticed that I walk home most days."
Aaron smiled and glanced at me briefly again, "You're welcome Oreo, I notice everything when it comes to you, you know."
Silence fell upon us as I had nothing to say and instead just blushed quietly to myself.
I'll have to admit, Aaron is this one cute ass friend, for sure.
I noticed from the corner of my eyes how Aaron looked at me and then laughed and looked away as he shook his head at how much I'm blushing and fiddling with my fingers.
"Stooop," I whined, "I get shy, okay!" I flipped my hair dramatically over my shoulder.
"Okay." Aaron replied, the hint of a smile still visible on his face.
I wish all 'pranks' looked like this.
"Don't ever forget your jacket again." Aaron suddenly states.
"Wha-how'd you know!" My eyes widened in surprise.
"You were shivering all day. Please don't forget it again." Aaron spoke gently as I melted on the inside.
